  1. "Touch of Grey' by the Grateful Dead - my theme song. Mythbusters is the coolest! I LOVE that show.
  2. The coat isn't THAT girly... but I can see that a guy might not make the buttons I used his first choice. I liked the look of the coat on the pattern, with two rows of buttons, so I found two different sizes (about 1-1/8" and 3/8") of the pearl-centered buttons and did a row of seven larger buttons, then a second row of fourteen small buttons. It turned out pretty good.
  3. Shame on your aunt! One thing that doesn't show in the picture is that the eyes glow red when the tree lights are on.
  4. You might be a pirate if THIS is your Christmas tree topper.
  5. I'm normally in the hand-sewing camp, but my hat is made of very dense felt and I was having a hell of a time getting a needle through it. When a pair of needlenose plyers is a necessary tool for sewing, it's time for glue...
  6. Most of that was due to the constraints of working at the San Mateo Expo Center. They have certain events that they do every year and have the signage for and our brand new event really threw them off. They couldn't even cope for two days and provide signage or even adequate support for our event. They made promises and we took them for their word, but they fell through. Otherwise, there would have been, say, a line of pirate flags along the route to the event or some such thing. Needless to say, next year's event won't be held there. Thanks for clarifying your point, Patrick.
  7. Yes it was missing something - your payment of $75. If you didn't pay for the evening's food, dancing and entertainment, then there's really nothing for you to criticize. I'm sorry to be sounding bitchy about this, but Jack and I put a lot into this (including paying for ALL of it) and it really bothers me to hear someone who didn't pay a cent to get in criticize it.
  8. It was a blast! My sister took some photos of us setting up. To get a peak at behind the scenes, check this out.
  9. Capt. Grey, my sentiments exactly! Maybe it's just the pre-menopausal hormones talking, but I feel smarter, sexier and more creative at age 45 than I did at age 25. I think it's the confidence that comes with wisdom and experience. Or I may just be losing my marbles. There's something to be said about having at least a "4" as the first digit of your age. Lots of unnecessary stuff just goes by the wayside - at least for women (can't speak for men of course, not being one...) Haven't you noticed that you can get away with so much more, as well?
