  16. ty all who have posted so far.definatly more historical im pretty sure the shirt needs some sort of split cuffs and the chest laces or buttons and ill be needing some period appropriate slops.id like to get the shirt into more of an historically correct look as ive just found a source for linen andwould like to use the one i have now as a pattern when i am able to purchase some linen.i have loads of heavy cotton canvas layin round which ill use until i can get my hands on some hemp.would waxed linen thread be ok if i run it through some beeswax?ive got a snap sack in the works and slops will be following shortly.i geuss youd call my hat a bicorn i wear it with the point in front unless the sun comes out too much.pictures of every thing so far above thanks be to dutch for that.
  17. Thank you much...methinks that for now ill make one out of the cotton until i get ahold of some hemp.im near blackbeards crew in hampton va...great bunch of people.itll give me some practice so i dont mess up the hemp.then i can let my daughter use the cotton its great to see how enthusiastic she is..not 4 years just yet but loves anything pirate.ty again.
  18. Ive had the good fortune to sample several different types of hatchet megs rum cakes.you wont find better anywhere else.mmm mmm good...
  19. ive got a bunch of heavy cotton canvas laying around.would this be alright to use for a snap sack...as ive no hemp canvas??ty
  20. Well to start off i keep my sheaths clean and well oiled.on the last one i made i coated the inside with beeswax.still undecided if that was wise or not.for the knives themselves usually just a little 000 steel wool every now and then.
