  1. Mistress Alexander would seem to have things well in hand and is looking out for us wayward pyrates, providin' for us a safe harbor yet again. Thank'e, Mistress, and all your co-conspirators too.

    Aye. What he says. Huzzah!

  2. Check thrift stores too. I "Lucked Out" and found one at the Goodwill. Saying you want an old Persian rug, cheap, is like saying you want a ten dollar gold piece, cheap. I did buy some new ones (relatively cheap) at the flea market. With a little aging and a couple of good (dusty/muddy) encampments they will look old. I may have to use Mr Hook's idea and add a canvas (painters drop cloth) painted with a compass rose.

  3. Received Cascabel's "Flintlocks 101" just in time for Christmas. Buxom Anne Marie (B.A.M.) wants a Queen Anne pistol (figures), so she can be a part of the battle at Fort Taylor's Pirate Invasion next year. Guess she'll have to change from B.A.M. to Bam Bam. Previewed the instructional before wrapping it and found it to be a great educational tool. Well done. Thank you Cascabel for the quick delivery in time for Christmas.

  4. The line is marked with tags tied 47 feet 3 inches apart, with each tag having one additional knot. The chip is dropped overboard, and timed with a 28 second timer. The number of knots to go through the counters hands is the number of knots you are going.

47 feet 3 inches is calculated by dividing the earths diameter at the equator (21,600 miles) by 360 (degrees). 1 degree equals 60 miles. 1 minute of longitude at the equator equals 1 nautical mile. 21,600 miles divided by 360 (degrees), divided by 60 (minutes) = 1 mile.

  5. Also heard this a few times... "Hey Matt, you must know...who are those two hot twins"? To which I replied, "Pirate huntress' mate".

These two?! ;) (Picture stolen from the Pirate Surgeon's Journal FB page)

Touché, but they dont look much like Pirate Huntress'...I did see one in a dress and one in a red coat though.

I think they're twin sons by different mothers.
