More than 10,000 historical re-enactors, history enthusiasts, collectors and the general public from the United States and Canada are expected to attend the 47th annual Kalamazoo Living History Show™. The juried, nationally recognized show is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16, 2025, at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center, Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds, 2900 Lake Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan. The show attracts over 200 of the finest artisans and vendors of pre-1890 living history supplies and related crafts from throughout the United States and Canada. Other highlights include children’s activities, Native American dancing and singing, and many artisans who will demonstrate their crafts. untilDrake’s Raid commemorates the attack of the land and naval forces of Sir Francis Drake against Spanish San Agustín in 1586. The encampment takes place at the Oldest House Museum Complex beginning Friday. Drills, demonstrations, and 16th century living history interpretations will be presented from 10 am-4 pm on Saturday. A battle between Spanish town’s brave defenders and the English privateers and brigands of Sir Francis Drake will be reenacted beginning at 7:30 p.m. The battle will commence at the Santo Domingo Redoubt near the City Gate and proceed down St. George Street, concluding at the Governor’s House Cultural Center and Museum at the Plaza de la Constitución. Noon to 4pm Ride the pirate ship To or From the Island The Mackinac Pirate Adventure Tour with the Good Fortune pirate ship will feature water cannons for the kids as well as a bar for adults. The pirate ship will be ferrying passengers from our Mackinaw City Dock to the Festival on our Historic Mackinac Island Dock, in the morning, with ticket purchase. The Pirate Ship will end the day by offering family-friendly evening and Nauti (21+) cruises at 5:45 pm and 7:15 pm, departing from the Mackinac Island dock. Festival admission is FREE. Since it began, in 1987, Falmouth Classics has steadily grown to be one of the largest Classic sailing events in the UK. Falmouth is recognised as having some of the best sailing waters in the world in the Carrick Roads and Falmouth Bay. There are also many vantage points for spectators to view the events.
