  1. Now that the show is over, I have to say I rather enjoyed it. It's clear that there was never any intention of presenting something historical but rather, something entertaining in the way of a pirate fantasy. I think JM as an older Blackbeard was great and the flashbacks of him with a full head of black hair, and yes, a black beard, was outstanding.

Sorry to hear it did not get picked up for second season.

  2. 'ello poppits! It's been a mean moment or two since I last braved these waters. Lil' wenchlet Jessica will be 3 on the 5th of Nov... remember remember the 5th of November, the gunpowder treason and plot...

and Swabbie Jason is 1 ana 'aff now.

Thinks it's too soon to enterduct them to Capn' Jack Sparrow and Lot?

I'd been absorbed in superhero geekery a for spell but few days ago I felt a powerful YAR! overcome me. I've left the ole' Spy Museum and ply me security trade at the Gaylord Hotel on the banks of the National Harbor.

Life and Love is good, Mates

    ahhh... bugger you all

  3. Well... It's been a year or so since I cruised these waters. Upon my last visit I mentioned I had little buccaneer on the way.

    So... Look ya searats!

Her name is Jessica and she's almost 5 months old now. I've successfully taught her how to blow raspberries and we're working on the Arrr.

  4. just finished this book myself. when i saw that the one of the crew was a complete clone of mary read i was kind of turned off.

everything everyone else has said is true but in spite of it...

    i still enjoyed reading it.

I guess I`m just that desperate for pirate related material

  5. This was a terrible book, big disappointment. Forget the fact that it's a raw manuscript...the story elements are trite. Everything in here you've seen in old pirate movies or already read in original period texts of Esquemeling, Dampier, etc. Characters, events, all pulled right from existing sources. This is one lazy ass book. Don't bother with it.

I only bothered to finish it to see how bad the ending was.

I have to admit I agree. I read it and its just all been done before. It seemed like a re-hash of Pirates of the Caribbean for the most part. The strangest part I thought was the fact he builds up this great bad guy then seems to kill him off way to easily halfway through the book. Wasn't impressed. They seriously need to bulk the story out to get a half decent movie o

  6. Hey Stynky,

It works the same as before for me. No change. However, I don't mind the low-fi version on my phone.

yah, same here, nothing has changed. It's a catch 22 for me. My work firewall blocks most image hosts such as photobucket so I can't see most of the pics people post here.

and then on my iPhone, I get no graphics at all...

so I have to wait until I get home on my own computer to see any pics.

  7. I get shivers every time you say the name o' that drink, Syren

REALLY?!?!? I have no idea why you would get shivers...let me try it again..Plunder Me Cherry... biggrin.gif

    *shivers* wooohoooo

man that's even better than.... MUFASA!

  8. to clarify a bit, other websites don't give me this problem, most load as a normal website. The ones that do load as a "mobile" site usually give me the option to view it regular.

So it's not an option on the iphone itself (iTouch, actually, same thing), it's something specific to this site.

  9. Well, I certainly don't want to hijack Liam's thread. He's actually trying to accomplish something here.

I'll just say that fantasy, when presented as fantasy, is quite fun. Anyone who tries to pass off the "fantasy" image as reality is an idiot. But on the other hand, I've had some label my very existence as offensive just because I can't afford or make justacorps or proper slops.

  10. ahh. well said.

My kit tends toward fantasy because that's all I can manage to put together, for now. I understand well the amount of time and effort it takes to put together something historically accurate. I have great respect for those that manage to do it.
