  7. Just found this in my collection. I remember this illustration is just slightly out of period, but I think it is pretty clear what this sailor is wearing.
  8. I do a "Pyrate Mythbusters" what does presenting entail.
  9. NICE! I ordered the decanter but it will not be modified in time for PIP - even if I get it in time!
  10. Mr. Reggie, I have lots of Butt Paste and other sundries. If ye forget your sense of humor, tent or waistcoat, I will be happy to help! Well, the butt paste may be up to you....
  11. It's a self portrait, and obviously (look at the dogs) Mr. Desportes thought he was quite the Man's Man. He isn't wearing a wig, which says, "I'm having a sporting good time with my viral man's hair" Overall, it's a very cocky, wonderful, self proclamation of wealth and virility. I think both his waistcoat and breeches are velvet, but since i live in Floridee, I will probably modify them to linen. I love this painting, and will make a viable recreation (for my climate) with your alls help! :-)
  12. Yeah your right I need to get my country gentleman on! My waistcoat will be sleeveless as I would NEVER have an opportunity to wear a wool coat over a sleeved waistcoat! Too hot!
  13. I've seen a couple of websites that offer a "short sailors" waistcoat. I've seen pictures of a few reenactors with them on as well. What i am not finding is any historical mention of them. It's basically a waistcoat that only comes to the waist. Man I am full of questions this week. I'm hoping these were PC as i already picked one up last week from a Sutler in Saint Austine.
  14. Hello, I am finally having my "dream" kit made for me. As some of you may know it's from Francois Desportes 1699 self portrait. The question my clothier is asking me is "Is the tape on the waistcoat wool with metallic in it or plain worsted wool in that gold color?" Keep in mind this is 1699. I don't know the answer, but hoping someone does. Thanks
  15. Not sure, it's been a bit. They are available at many places though for about $20.
  16. Check this site out! http://www.jamestownglasshouse.com/Repro1.html
  17. Just glad to be curious... Hey Quartermaster - nice link! I want one of these wine decanters - like NOW!
  18. No problem and thanks for the compliment. I am seriously trying to examine everything I have and know the history, regardless of it's accuracy or not.
