  1. That's lovely. Don't kids these days know how to conceal their alcohol? Sorry, it's not funny. But that is an awful lot of arrests...
  2. Greetings to ye! I am also new to the world or Piracy. The Gentlemen and Ladies are welcoming and full of knowledge. Pray, where is your area so that we might better find ye some local friends? Oh and I would like some hot spiced rum... I fear I suffer from a sore throat today. ('tis the strain of keepin me men in line!)
  3. Oh, I'm sorry m'lady, I was referring to the men's shoes from JAS Townsend. I ordered the Connie from Fugawee for myself, I thought they were rather pretty, and I like a small heel, I find them quite comfortable. I did go for the concord for my husband. They look pretty good and I hope they will be comfortable. We saved quite a bit of money because of the sale and combined shipping. =) hopefully everything fits and looks good... I just have to find him some buckles now.
  4. teehee. Yeah, I just can't wait that long for loyalists for hubby... Thank you gentlemen, I am feeling a bit better about my purchase. =)
  5. Evil? I thought they were good? Is there a better option within reason? Gosh shoes are frustrating...
  6. Darnit! I was typing something and the whole thing disappeared. Anyway. I'm about to (finally) order my shoes from Fugawee and I just noticed that the men's only come straight lasted in the ligonier model.... I guess my question is should I go for the left rights on fugawee and save some money, or buy the straight lasted from JAS-Townsend? What is the "best bet"?
  7. I really didn't have any trouble with read except it catching on a loosely woven linen... but that was fixed bu simply rounding the edges... Flattening was easy, I put my iron on a decent setting with some steam and sprayed a bit of water on the stays and basically steamed them flat once everything was in place, and just let them set straight on the table. Please correct me if this is a bad method...
  8. Damn, I need buttons too... but only enough for a waist coat. Are there a few floating around?
  9. I love those Monmouth . They are also on my "to make" list. (I was a knitter and crocheter before I could sew. lol) Alright, this pattern is for a doll's hat, but is this sort of what it looks like? I was looking at the ready made cap on Smoke and Fire, but couldn't really tell where the seams were. :-/ Thanks!!
  10. Oh that could be nifty- like those magic push up bras with the adjustable cleavage thing in the middle. Is that what it was used for?
  11. Is that laced only on the top bit there?
  12. I couldn't find the patterns... Has anyone tried to make one before? Or have any good pictures/ sketches?
  13. I'm really interested in the metal loops. Does anyone have any information on this? I've done similar things with non period corsets, and it looks really unique.
  14. You may also want to reference Chole's blog for her Duct Tape Double ~ a similar concept, without the drying time. I have the duct tape double blog saved... its a matter of getting someone to help me! I guess I'll have to coerce hubby into doing it. =)
  15. Eek! I missed a lot of conversation! The mantua is split down the front, and I ran into some fabric and draping issues, so my sleeves did not go in as part of one piece. I probably will not be wearing those stays with it, I am working on a new set as we type. The instruction on setting the sleeve is a real help, I was having a lot of difficulty with that (hence only one sleeve). It's a work in progress, though I doubt I'll have any time to work on it this week because of school and other projects... =( Stuff for me seems to get shoved to the end of the list... Oh well!
  16. That sounds like fun! Do a little "show" and an educational presentation? yey!
  17. Nice. Yeah, I'd love to even make up our own local events... Pirates in the park, and the like... =) I have generated some interest at school but I think people won't be serious about it until they see us in "action" lol PS. i think I have perfected the grog. we should have a tasting next meeting. yum
  18. This is my brown mantua in progress... I was having sleeve issues. It was still a bit pinned together at this point. Any feedback is appreciated. =)
  19. How do I get along with it not holding so much? Well, that is why the pot was invented... To keep a lady's stash of rum concealed from the men and close at hand! ...Why do you think tea parties were (are) so popular, hm?
  20. I watched the History Channel DVD on pirate ships. I found it rather informative, but I think most of the people around here would have found it very 'obvious' I guess. As a newbie, I liked it... I don't know how much I'd pay for it (I watched if free through instant netflix) It depends on how often you would watch it... I've watched that pirate special twice already, and then another pirate special three times... the other option is *hehe* pirating it off the internet... lol
  21. Yeah... We need to find some more local friends. I feel so looooonely
  22. tee hee. I actually had (bad) thoughts of making some breeches of the same cream silk I'm making those stays of just for play (you know, if I want to strip down and do some sword play-eek) Obviously not so PC, but fun. =) I may even skip the hat! How scandalous! Of course it would probably never make it to an event. Maybe a dress-up party...
