  1. Thanks callenish....its funny that you post this....for i just got a dutch oven from a friend of mine....i should try this out YYAAAAYYY

Our family has had a meat pie from way back that is a little bit different. it is layered.

first layer placed on the pie dough is thinly sliced potato, second layer is thinly sliced onion, third layer is thinly sliced carrot, fourth layer is thinly sliced roast beef (leftovers) and the fifth and last layer is thinly sliced tomato. each layer is lightly seasoned with some salt & pepper and a very light dusting of flour to help make the gravy. After you have one full 5 ingredient layer done, you start over again, and again, until the pie is as high as you want it, then you cover it with the second pie dough, give a couple of slices through to let the steam out and cook until knife tender. even better the second day, if there is any leftover. ;)

Well sir you might have to let us see this dish you have mentioned...that or give the recipe to Lady Brower...sounds fantastic lol

  2. That fort looks like alot of fun, and like you said Will...isolated on an island with nothing modern around just makes it seem all that more exciting!!

I know the Half Moon Marauders plan on going to the lockhouse for sure and more likely than not to pea patch island

T'would be awesome to meet the Mercury Crew....now if I could only find your cap'n :-P lol

  3. Sadly I will not be able to make it to PiP this year due to scheduling conflicts with work....Maybe next year I will be around...for now I will have to live vicariously through pictures and stories :-(

  4. The event was a blast!!

Black John and the Pirate Brethren: Thank you for a great event!! I cant say enough about it!!!

Reggie: That rum run in kit was well worth it...and size doesnt matter....its how you handle yourself lol

Mike and Kate: It was great to meet you two. I really hope to see you two again real soon!! Remember..call us if you are going to be in our neck of the woods...I know you want to get to NYC soon

Mike: Thank you for the loan of the "BOOMSTICK" and the red coat....now I might have to get my own and defect once in a while lol......

Kate: Awesome pictures and great food!!! And yes...women shooting black powder is HOT!! lol

Tartan Jack: We hope to see you down there some time...its always nice to have a fellow Celt amongst the group...we need to fight back those damn Canadians before they protest on the White House lawn and become legalized!!!

I have probably repeated myself several times...but that is a testament as to the caliber if the event and the people there!!! Well worth every moment....although....we do need more rum doxies ;)

  5. lol....I am waiting too...Lady Brower passed out though :-P Doubt she is waking up early tomorrow

Edit...I am tired....easiest way to tell....I use 'lol' waaaaayyyy too many times lol

To meet the people who have been teaching me so much and didnt even realize it lol, but everyone was great..Mike and "Kate"....it was ALOT of fun to hang out with you two....although Mr. Whiffer had better make sure to keep his hands off my flag otherwise my alter ego "Big Red" will come for you!! lol....but I do have to thank you for loan of the horse pistol...I am now an addict, so I have to go buy one now!!! BlackJohn and crew....wow!! again I say..wow!! This is an event that will be talked about amongst our crew until november...and even beyond then....This was such a fantastic event!! Everything ran great...I was taught a great deal by everyone there and for that I am eternally grateful!! Mr. Tignor....You sir were great...glad to meet you as well..I will see you at many events in the future and I look forward to it....There are tons of people I want to thank but I am not sure I can remember EVERYONE'S name...but I am still grateful for all of your help and companionship!!!!

As far as Lady Brower catching on fire......

Kate....you and I have to talk.....we have plans we need to discuss MWAHAHAHAHA

  7. WoW...that was pretty good lol

So what does everyone have planned for this upcoming 4th?

I know I am plannign on having a mini event with me crew...PC encampment...with some modern day fun thrown in...like fireworks...although i am hoping that we should have some black powder going off as well!! Its almost like a test run for the lockhouse nextweekend...should be fun

  8. ahhh thank you for the correction oderlesseye lol. I get the commands mixed up (you would think I would know them in the military but I am a wrench slinger and not carrying a rifle all that often lol), but the miltary did wear tricorns cocked differently than the civilian one for shoulder arms even if the hat is small enough to not really interfer with the rifle.

Maybe thats why somepeople wear baseball caps backwards nowadays....so you dont hit the woman with the brim when you go to kiss them lol

  9. From what I know...Blackjohn is right...during the rev war the hat was either cocked to the side or worn off to the side so that the soldiers could carry the rifle at "order arms". So the rifle was on your right shoulder and the hat (so as not to interfere with the rifle) would be worn over the left eye, or backwards...I would have to consult with my rev war freiends buy=t I am 85% sure this is why the hat was worn this way......I will be back with legit sources later

  10. Wow, fantastic write up!!! I glad you too the time and effort into posting all of this information!! Well i guess I will leave my kilt at home then for reenactments and just save it for around the house, renfaires, and St. Patricks Day then lol. I believe the kilt I have does not have knife pleats but it is made or worsted wool so it wouldn't even be period correct. I originally bought the kilt (Black Watch Pattern) from Highland Secrets (websites down as of right now) and I bought a great kilt, but cut it into a half kilt and amd saving the extra fabric for another project. Just looking for another excuse to wear it...cause lets face it...they are VERY comfortable (and women love them too). Thanks again for that great write up jack...I'll see ya at the lockhouse next month (wow time flys) and make sure to post picts of your kit when you are done!!!
