I'm just starting this book.. I was thinking it's an uneven read, but I will stick it out, because as you say it gives a really good background history of the time, and the Spanish/English political situation.

The things being said on the Bounty's Facebook page are awful- even knowing full well that the families of the crew read them, uninformed people still continue to make nasty comments. There is a time to deconstruct what happened..now is not it, when there is still a missing person...

And yet- the fact that she's wallowing at all, and hasn't slipped beneath the waves is incredible. Is it oo much to hope she may yet survive? In one pictrue her bow is still above the waves. Looks like she has sustained mast damage...but she is still battling the sea. -

Matty- I saw the sentiments you posted about on the web. Some of them made me sick. I can't believe that such vile and bitter thoughts could be posted, especially as there are still missing. One confirmed dead, now..we must now continue to hope her Captain is found.
