The movie folks are sellling off second tier costumes from the live action movie, Peter Pan. I have Smee's stuff and it is first class - hand stitched even. Who'd have thought. Yes, it may not be historically correct, but it's nice. A bit pricey, but the are selling whole outfits. Check it out at: http://stores.ebay.com/Halloween-by-Hollywoodvault3 -- Hurricane

And my serger decides to throw a screw. I get it back together, and now the machine won't stich right. Ahhhhh!!!. (I know an overlock stich is inacturate, but I'm making ten costumes. I need to cut corners where I can.) So now i'm stuck taking it down to a repair shop tomorrow. Anyone else have any suggestions or experience with such machines? Tip or Tricks? Just venting some frustration.

Anyone know where my friend can get a pirate doormat? Hopefully in a store, not on-line. I told to her to first look in Target and Walmart, just for the hell of it. She lives close to Sea Port Village, down in San Diego. I know there's a store called Captain's Cove, all nautical stuff, pirate included. She wants to see if she can first find one by just going into a store and buy it. If not, then she'll consider on-line shopping, but that's a last resort.

I am in search of a way to get more of my handmade pirate items to the West Coast. I am located in Florida, so I can get to many of the faires in the Southeast with my items, but I would like to expand. Anyone know any faire / festival merchants on the West Coast that would be looking to expand their line of Renn / Pirate items? I would love to chat with someone about this. drop me an e-mail at diosa@piratesofthecoast.com Diosa

I've seen period woodcuts of folks with bandoliers of pistols, and of course pieces just thrust through a belt -- but was anything like the "saddle ring" of the 1800s ever used on the shorter carbines and blunderbuss and such of the period? The concept certainly seems handy enough on a US Civil War era Sharps on a cavalry sling, and I know some folk even use the same idea with the "single point slings" of the M4.. but did it go back as far as pirate days? The earliest I can recall is an 1850's Sharps with a looooong bar and large ring, but surely it originated before that. Do we know when?

Check it out all! # 4923... it's meant to look Sparrowish... but, after looking at the pattern & a couple reviews from a PotC Costuming chat list... it's a grand buy! Pretty close to 18th c pattern cuts, even looks like a fall front breeches! Yes.. BREECHES! Not some silly drawn string pants or something that is not really all that period. I'd imagine that you can make it also fly front. Pattern includes a frock coat, waist coat, shirt, breeches & cravat. Available for adults & kids.

Anyone know where to get one? It took me a long time to find mine, I got it at a street faire. I then realized a friend of mine also really likes that symbol too. Her birthday is coming soon and it would be great to find that and give it to her as a gift. The fun part is finding it, ugh! Anyone have any ideas? Ebay was not a good place to look, most of them are not what the pic showed. Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

I have a red velvet ladies pirate top, it is made using a costume pattern, and has no authenticity, but will make a nice costume. It is size 16 ladies, and I can send a picture if anyone is interested. New, never worn, made in my smoke-free, pet-free home. I am asking $45.00 + shipping.

Ahoy mates, I am wondering if any of you might know where I can find a small wooden figurine like this: They are usually about 6" or so tall, and are sold as "el cheapo" souvenirs at beach stores, nautical stores, etc. I had one of these when I was a kid, (it is now long lost), and I would like to find one again for sentimental reasons. If any of you might know where to buy them, or perhaps someone might have one they no longer wanted and it needed a good home, would you please kindly let me know? Thanks so much for any help!

Well, ever since punk designer Vivienne Westwood outfitted Adam & the Ants, pirate imagery has been part of high-end and mainstream fashion: So, what's the best piece (or pieces) of pirate fashion in your everyday wardrobe (Ren. Faire garb excluded)? For me, it would be my new bermuda-length white denim shorts trimmed with 2" wide metallic gold ribbon on the cuffs and pockets. ... paired with my cream & black striped Ralph Lauren cami. Cheers, Hester

This is short notice or I would just get patterns and sew it myself, which I am doing anyways. So I am looking for a web store that I could order ready to wear/off the rack Pyrate clothing that are period or close to it, or heck at this short notice fantasy/hollywood pirate would do. I would like to have these said items before Sept 19th ie Talk Like a Pirate Day, to wear to work and about town. I have faire garb I could use sorta, but I rather dress more period to GAoP for Sept 19th. So what I am looking for are, Sailor Slopes or Knee Breeches, Short Coat or Waistcoat, and possibly a Frock Coat. (Yeah Right, I know not in that short of time..he is crazy!) That is w…

i've never actually done this before, but i found a piratey product with which i am so very pleased that i actually feel compelled to share my joy with all of you. Before Pennsic, i ordered a few pair of the striped heavy cotton socks from Jas. Townsend and Sons. For those of you who aren't familiar with Pennsic, it's an enormous event, and involves an amazing amount of walking, most of it on very rocky paths. These socks are absolutely fantastic! They breathe like you're barefoot, yet cushion like sport socks. Plus, they look beautifully period. i purchased the red and black striped socks, and i tea dyed them to tone down the red, to suit my own costuming tastes. …
