So this is a show I watch called Ghost Lab, it's nothing like that stupid Ghost Hunters TAPS thing. A good friend of mine is one of the investigators and I can give you her word and mine that it's 100% real, nothing is fixed or staged. What better then the word of a pirate. Anyway they investigated a hotel where Blackbeard was known to stay. Reports tell of a young girl whom Blackbeard would sleep with then later hung from a tree in the back yard. They find an EVP of the girl screaming, maybe from being tortured by Blackbeard before being murdered. Then they find one of a males voice, maybe of Blackbeard himself? If you believe in ghost or not it's still a good watch.…

Mike Leach has become a symbol of the pirate mystique down here in Texas. His cover photo for the September 2009 "Texas Monthly" featured him sporting an eyepatch and included a piratey quote he gave about pirates beating soldiers. Well, he got canned today after a whirlwind disaster involving an injured player. The facts are flying, along with the fur, and we'll have to see where this ends (Leach and his lawyer are talking lawsuit) but, in the end, at least in Texas, pirates take another hit. I can hear the jokes now - "Well, doctors are now saying that instead of requiring the player to sit out practice in the 'offensive garage' that Leach should have make him walk …

I stumbled across a wonderfully illustrated comic called Cursed Pirate Girl by Jeremy Bastian. I've read the first to issues of the six part series. They recall the fun and fantasy of childhood pirates with a taste of Alice in wonderland. Very cool check out more info at http://www.jeremybastian.com/ . Not sure if anyone brought this up before but thought I would post.

Well I have not posted about a specific issue in quite some time now, but I feel this issue warrants such a post. I strongly feel that this issue is the best to come out of our camp and feel that Capt Nichols has so much more locked a ready to go for the next issue. I believe it will only get better! This issues cover has the prizes for the Devil's Dozen contest on it. A sword from Tony Swatton and one from myself that you can just see the point. It also has the Order of Leviathan ring that will be given to the 13 winners. First time that the cover has had only an object and I think it works great! The back cover has a lovely yet simple and clean ad by yours truly. I t…

Here's the newest offering from the L.E.A.G.U.E. of Steam (a new group that's come into the spotlight recently). I happen to know Duane Matthews who usually plays pirate Buchard, and I never thought I'd see him into this stuff. (He's the one with the long beard) No, I have no idea what the L.E.A.G.U.E. bit stands for.

I know some of us plan to be there a few days for PIP...and though I plan to travel light, I could bring some of my suitable steamer gear if others are also interested.... I know some of us will be swamped with what is already planned. Just a suggestion!
