1721 will be a historic event in and of that year in history, so we need to build kit and clothing from the ground up. So...step one is shoes. We'll talk about each step, but shoes are first. This is the thread to talk about who has them, who needs them and how to get them, so sound off if your feet are clad or unclad. If you have some for sale, trade, loan or as a gift, please let us know sizes and details. Pictures are always a plus. (Originally posted by William on Facebook)

THE NARRATIVE Now that a few events have come and gone and we're sitting at the 2 month mark leading up to Fort King George, it's time to talk about the overarching narrative, which is being worked out as we speak. First, we need to be candid about the differences that exist between attendees. Some crews and individuals have been doing this for a long time, but a few people have never had the opportunities to attend any event at all. This creates an uneven 'casting' in our participants, so we need to remind ourselves regularly that we're all enthusiastic. We all want to be here. Our specific reasons and experiences might differ, but everyone is looking forwa…

So, after some 16 years, I am actually going to get to use all the research myself and others put into the early 18th century British uniform portrayal. Much of that research can be found here -> (although a number of books in my personal library, and discussion on other forums has padded this info out a lot) Currently, I have almost everything needed for this portrayal, and have worn various iterations of it out over the years. To really nail this down to "as perfect as I feel I will ever get it", I need to accomplish the below 1. Remake the hat. I have a black hat blank, and wool trim that has been waiting for months for this. I am going to make a h…

As we work our way through clothing and upgrade our kits, it’s time we talk about stockings. What little I know on the subject, wool and silk would have been the most common materials with neutral, off white and browns being the most common colors. But honestly I don’t know. As our 1721 standard to shoot for, can anyone provide examples (with citations) for what people wore for stockings?
