Ahoy to all. Thursday I was in North Liberty, Iowa to help with festivities. RAGBRAI (Registers Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) rolled into North Liberty yesterday with at least 20,000 cyclists. Granted only about 15,000 stayed in North Liberty the rest either stayed elsewhere in surrounding communities like Coralville or Iowa City or Cedar Rapids or elsewhere. Or even called it the end of the line for them. North Liberty came up with a theme for this grand event... that theme was PIRATES! Yo'rs truly couldn't pass this up when she learned of it and have been in contact with someone for a couple months to help out with the grand event. Yesterday it all mater…

I am home safe and sound, hope all of the folks that attended have the same good fortune. Special thanks to Rats and the Crew of the Archangel, and the Great Lakes Pyrates for putting up with me all day (not too many folks can do that ya know! ), and making my trip up there a very special and memorable one. More later, but it's time to crash. Bo P.S. If anyone got any photos they would be willing to post, my Blondiewench and the kids are chiding me hard for forgetting the camera. Any help would be greatly appreciated! They are on me pretty hard about the beach and battle. They are already planning on going up with me next year. Thanx!

Hello everyone my name is Lori. I'm working on a pirate character and her name is Morgan Drake and that is unfortunately as far as I have gotten so far with her. I was thinking of her being an illegitimate child of Sir Francis Drake but I don't know if this is appropriate or not by following a true privateer, and again I just don't know where to take it from here.

What a woman! Rumba hand made and sent me for my Birthday one of her glorious covers for my tankard... A soft green, hand crocheted lacy cover with shells, beads and pearls! The sides dangle with little silver chains and at the ends are lovely shells to weight it down and hold it in place. They tinkle against the sides of the pewter and make the most beautiful music! Pictures as soon as I get them taken! Thank you Rue! Happy Birthday to me indeed!!

Gas is almost $4 a gallon. What's the per-gallon breaking point cost that will preclude you from going to a pirate festival or event? Will you be keeping close to home if gas goes to $7 a gallon? Will you not go at all if it's over $10 a gallon?

Iffn' ye met anyone here from the pub out in the real world, tell us about it. Phone calls count too. For me I have met: Captain Morgan-best damn Disneyland trip with him thus far! RumbaRue Diego Rummy Captain Wolfy Wench-a member here, but doesn't post often enough Captain Grey-I saw her briefly at Comic Con one year, but didn't get a chance to really talk with her. Captn' Jack Sparrow aka Wade-only have talked with him on the phone a few times. Merrydeath-haven't met her, but had talked on the phone with her a few times. Pyrate Phil-well, haven't met him yet, but talk all the time either on the phone or IM chat.

I volunteer for the Papa Murphy Hospice Classic golf tournament. This year the Tournament takes place on 9/19, otherwise known as Talk Like A Pirate Day. I have suggested to the director that we have a Pirate theme to one of the sponsor holes. We could have Captain Morgan rum or something similar for the golfers. I would appreciate any suggestions from forum members to make this a real TLAP party. I have the beginnings of an outfit and a Jolly Roger flag. This is an oppurtunity to introduce a lot of people to Pirates

Starting tonight, I'll be away for the next couple of weeks, sailing down to Southern California and back on the Aldebaran (the same ship Ransom and I were on at the NorCal festival.) We'll be within twenty miles of the coast going South, but in order to sail North, we'll have to head out towards Hawaii and then head back in. I've never been more than twenty miles from shore so this is going to be a new experience for me! Several of us will be bringing cameras, so I'll post pics when I get back. Here's a rough idea of our route: With any luck, I'll be back on the 14th but that depends on the winds.

matusalem posted some pics of a teak hatch he was making (a beauty too i might add). Me being the gearhead I am was looking at the tools and the workshop. Ok lets post em. Pictures or a description of of your sweatshops and what you use to make your pyracy fettish happen. Tools, sewing machines, forges, what have you. I guess I'll have to overcome my figure out how to post a pic fear this weekend.
