Also another way to add one another as friends in the myriad of social networks that are out there. Good idear? Bad one? Dammit Sam, there's too many bloody mybooks an facepages out there?

I just wanted to say good night to everyone before turning in. This has become a habit for me. the pub... almost an addiction...still a welcome one. I love being connected to all of you, even if its by a "thread." I hate to go to sleep without goodnights and kisses and the lot... I'm just that kind of mushy sot... it must have taken me 3 hours to say goodbye at PIP... Anyway.. GOODNIGHT... sleep tight....sweet dreams of smooth waters, and billowing sails...gorgeous sunsets and white sand, rum, and the laughter of our friends. XOXOX NELL

here is a link to a little game that can be a little addicting. http://games.aarp.org/games/type-writer/type-writer.aspx it gives you one letter and maximum number of letters to be used. Then you have to think up as many words that you can filling in the blanks using the letter given. It can be a bit harder then you think. My highest score is 7760 thus far. Oh, yes there are different levels and each level is just a little bit harder then the one before. So try your hand at it and post your score.

Ok, during the GOAP when the gov's decided they needed to reign in the pirates they offered clemancy and recruited repentent pirates to hunt down other pirates. So, in this day and age, how would those of a piratey mind deal with the pirates of Somalia?

I'm doing a paper on the UNESCO Underwater Cultural Heritage program, and similar laws in the US, and while doing research happened upon this. Fortunately she doesn't classify as underwater cultural heritage, but she does need some help. http://74.220.215.216/~sscolumb/wordpress/?page_id=40

We chart Kingman Reef... Kingman Reef is just about as likely a candidate for the "middle of nowhere" as you will ever find. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingman_Reef That's got to be a fascinating place... a pile of gravel a meter or so above sea level, sometimes awash, in the middle of Pacific Ocean. Boggles my mind...

It's been months since I have posted here. I am happy to see the nice changes to the pub! Anyway, I am sending out cyber wishes for the Holidays to everyone. It's going to be a very lean Christmas this year due to the economy and our situation but nonetheless it will still be Christmas! I am going to be a grandmother first time around so I am totally in gramma mode. The baby is due in June and I plan on making it's room here into a pirate themed(who would guess? LOL) The August fund raiser was fantastic. Lee Arenberg and Marty Klebba made it out there. We had wonderful donations from Naomie Harris, David Baille, Terry Rossio, Kevin McNally, Geoffrey Rush, the POTC mak…

Hi, I am new to the forum and used to be in the SCA. I have been working on a real time web game where you can sail around, trade at ports, sink ships and plunder, and form guilds. It has a bunch of different ship types, and tries to simulate realistic combat conditions with a challenging sailing system and a hungry crew. In any case the game is at constantsail.com. Please give it a try and let me know what you think. Thanks, Rob Screenshot:

Ok, so I'm bored at work during lunch and since I see the WAG going on, I thought I'd start one myself. This is the three word game where I post three words and then YOU post three words. The idea is to create a story with each pirate adding three words that connect somehow to a prior post. Here goes. A Dirty Pirate...

The Holiday’s are a time of celebrating, sharing, loving, giving, receiving, reflecting and remembering. Whether you celebrate Yule, Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa this time of year is a special one. I have many happy memories of my family and friends, but I especially remember them at this time of year. How my grandfather would always have a silver dollar for each grandchild. He would hide a silver dollar in his hand and we would each take turns guessing which hand he was holding the silver dollar. His blue eyes would sparkle with merriment at our consternation as we would try to beat him at his game of hide and seek. Or the memory of my mother’s cookies and candy tha…

This is totally insane! Some people are completely screwed up! 200 people trying to get into a Walmart this morning broke down the doors, trampled a few clerks, killing one person and an unborn child. Check out the article here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27955316/ I feel for the families of the person who was killed, the poor pregnant woman who lost her child and those who were badly injured. What's really sick is while the clerk lay there on the floor, clearly dead with the emergency crew around him, people still continued to push their way into the store, not caring what had happened. What has happened to society? Is Christmas shopping so important that people do…

I've been reading S.M.Sterling's book Dies the Fire... it's another Post apocalypses novel (hey... I like reading them...) Anyway, that and a thread in the Steampunk forum (in their version of Beyond Pyracy) about what to do when the zombies attack.... someone mentioned a bug out bag........ So I did a google search, and found another forum all about what to do when the zombies attack.... http://zombiehunters.org/index.php (this is their main page.. you gotta check out their Forum...bug out bags, guns... all kinda fun stuff....) So now I'm wondering what would I put into a bug out bag... just in case the zombies or the end of the World as we know it did happened....…

Carolina Journal Exclusives Dems Target Private Retirement Accounts Democratic leaders in the U.S. House discuss confiscating 401(k)s, IRAs By Karen McMahan November 04, 2008 RALEIGH — Democrats in the U.S. House have been conducting hearings on proposals to confiscate workers’ personal retirement accounts — including 401(k)s and IRAs — and convert them to accounts managed by the Social Security Administration. Triggered by the financial crisis the past two months, the hearings reportedly were meant to stem losses incurred by many workers and retirees whose 401(k) and IRA balances have been shrinking rapidly. The testimony of Teresa Ghilarducci, professor o…

I'm still trying to find a picture but I hope someone else watched American Dad last night and saw the pink disco pirate. It was the CIA telethon episode and one of the acts used a pirate dressed in pink busting disco moves. He had roller skates and even his peg leg had a roller on it. I was dying. I will keep searching for that pic. edit: Also, if you didn't catch Dexter last night then you missed the Bachelor party stripper option "Pirates in Petticoats". Yaaaaaaar!

Not sure where to put this but I think it deserves to be brought up. I know a couple months ago on the Point of the Cutlass forum someone had posted a call to arms for some pirates to join Extreme Home Makeover to help out with a boy who liked pirates. Didn't know the full extent of it nor the story and couldn't join in the fun cause I got that call to arms nigh a week too late! Pity. But that story was told last night and oh, how it moved me! The lad who likes pirates is named Job. He's 10 yrs old and has battled and won against Luekemia, had a double lung transplant, Wheelchair bound and continues to battle severe health issues. And he's 10! Extreme Makeover: Ho…

This may sound a bit strange to some, but I think I will have some agreement here. Recently, I watched one of these crime shows where a "treasure-hunting" high school teacher hired a "professional treasure-hunter" to assist him in finding sunken ships laden with gold and treasure. The hired hand reminded this teacher that "he seemed like a pirate from the Golden Age and he 'just had that pirate swagger." Make a long story short, the teacher had dished out thousands of dollars to this man and the man took off with loot. The teacher referred to the man as a "modern day Golden Age of Pirate..Pirate. Not because of the crime, but because of his personality and demeanor. Wh…
