Hi everyone! This is my first fiction...so we'll have to see how it goes. I'd love comments/reviews if anyone reads this. Thanks! CHAPTER I I hurried along the streets as quickly and quietly as I could. Nobody must see me. If they did, I would most certainly be caught and dragged back to where I had come from. Why was I running away? Well, I was running away from the terrible fate my parents had sealed for me. They expected me to marry Sir Allen Parker. Sir Allen had lots of money. That was the only reason why my parents thought I should marry him. They didn't think twice about love or a meaningful relationship. I guessed that they hadn't ever even loved each other…

I am humbly submitting this novel in the hopes that you will enjoy it keeping in mind that I wrote this a year before I joined the Pub (back in 2005), or had attended any kind of pirate reenactment event. I based most of what I knew of large events on the SCA wars I had attended over the previous ten years. That being the case, you will see a few names that sound familiar. It is pure coincidence. If you want to make any comments about the story, pro or con, PM me. I can take it! Also, I will probably be doing edits as I post chapters, as I haven't re-read this in over a year, so I am sure I'll find errors. Feel free to point them out to me if you find any. THIS IS A …

One Eyed Trollop Golden Age of Piracy Island of Bermuda, St. George 1713 Part 1 of 3 Riet is the last person you thought you would encounter in the taproom of “The Frog and Onion” tavern. One-eye Riet’s first husband was a Lutheran Pastor from Copenhagen she made a cuckold with the entire parish. Her second husband was a Spanish Pirate Chief she turned over to the French governor of St. Kitts. Last you had heard Riet had pleaded her belly to avoid hanging in the colony of Charles Towne after being caught selling strategic information to…

The Port Royal story ran for over two years, with a lot of great writing. However, many of the original players have, for various reasons, dropped out of the story, and it has been stagnant for many many months. I would like to kick-start it back to life. To do that, it needs new players to create new adventures. If any of you have ever wanted to hop into one of the on-going stories running on the Pub, now is your chance. PR is basically a land-based story(although ships came in and out regularly), and we've had people playing everything from smugglers, murderers, tavern keeps, actresses, pirates, pirate hunters, eccentric professors, and wealthy sugar plantation owners,…

This thread is for those currently playing in, or wishing to join the Port Royal role-playing thread. It gives quick biographies of the characters, both main, and supporting, that you might run into while in town! It is to help all of us keep track of who's who. NOTE: PORT ROYAL PLOT IDEAS AND CHARACTERS ARE COPYRIGHTED BY THOSE WHO HAVE CREATED THEM. NO ONE MAY USE THESE CHARACTERS WITHOUT THEIR CREATOR'S PERMISSION. RANSOM Female. Captain of the schooner Rakehell. Twenty something years old (This IS a fantasy, right!). Light red curly hair, Irish-blue eyes, 5' 6" boyish figure. Youngest daughter of landed gentry. Greetings one and all! OOC - This is a chance for anyone wishing to develop a historically driven character and see where that role takes them. If you aren't into roleplaying and simply want to pick someone up or talk in modern terms, stay out. In turn, we won't allow anyone to post your life's story here or make fun of you. Simple enough for you wouldn't exist yet. We humbly request that the moderator, Dear Rumba, monitor this to ensure that we keep to the rules. SCENARIO The years are anywhere between 1660 and 1730 in Port Royal, Jamaica. This is the two primes of Port Royal, pre-earthquake (1650 to 1692 - the age of the Buccaneers) and post earthquake (1692 to 17…

This thread is where those folks, participating in the serious role playing thread..Port Royal Jamica , can ventur to post any questions regarding the historical background and or any technical questions regarding role playing. Why a second/joint thread? So as to avoid constantly disrupting the original story line of the role playing thread by going in and out of character.... Hope this helps ! JH Sterling

T’was a time not so long ago that I, Seamus the Unlucky, was Captain of me own ship, the ‘Wolfhound’. Despite a near spotless record of boardin’ an’ raidin’, the ‘Wolfhound’ had eventually been sunk after a bungled mess of a raid on a small port town that will remain unnamed, tank ye very much. This bit of bad luck left me with few options as ta findin’ gainful employment and I was convinced that despite the successes I’d once had, piratein’ weren’t fer me. I have since that day been the cook at the “Itchy Crab” Tavern here in a port where tankfully, no one knew me name. So there I be, mixin’ up a particularly savory batch of me gruel when I hears me a ruckus comin…

I dance from plank to plank across an old wooden pier, beneath My sandaled feet, the ocean's restless waters, reach out to greet me. So soon have I arrived. Spindrift, you are my wooden masted beauty. My eyes drink in this scene of tranquility. Wraithy whispers, Evoke such a feeling of haunting delights in My Soul! Down this Familiar Path, I must travel alone. My memoirs were written down on the parchment that was left to wither. Beaten by times wrath, my mind finds comfort in an old mariners tale. Spindrift, speak again!, the soft evening breeze caresses your sails, Whispers of the wind, Moon, she gazes down upon my tranqual bay. Softly rocking, loyal compa…

I wrote this short story for my mother, a teacher of mathematics, who asked me to write a ghost story about numbers. I did - but of course, I couldn't resist including pirates in it too.

Steam Attacker Memories of the War of 1895 By Hagen Luke As told to Stephen Sanders Chapter I This is my first attempt to ever write a book, memoir, or anything much more than a letter to a family member or friend. I did try to write a love poem once to a girl but I was ten at the time and the resulting piece, which to my eyes was a work of great art, caused little more than a giggle. Im not trying to write great literature here; Im just trying to record the events of my time. This is a journal, not a novel. Plato was the first to say that necessity was the mother of invention. If that be the case, then survival is most definitely inventions…

I have been enjoying reading all the works for the current stories, and I will probably look into joining the current PR storyline, but I have a fantasy/steam punk urge that I like in my writing style. With that in mind I noticed that there was no fantasy or steam punk based stories currently going on. More historical based fiction. If you would be interested in beginning a role-play adventure set during Victorian times, with a Steam punk flair, please post and let me know. If there is enough interest I will create a setting background and we can begin working on characters. I was not sure if this thread belong in the Skull and Quill section or back in Airship Pirates…

This is a Fictional Account of the first meeting, and subsiquent frienship/alliance between me and Blackjack Brimstone of the Devil's Brood Pyrates. I wrote the basic story, and Blackjack added some fleurishes and helped make sure his character was represented accuratly. In reality, we met at the Hampton Blackbeard Fest in 2010 Tale of the First Allaince by ~ Commodore Greyhound and Commodore Blckjack Brimstone of the Devil's Brood They said it was an alliance forged in the hells themselves and that even the locker feared to claim them, all that is truly known is that on that night a dark wind was blowing. A pact between two of the most contemptable pirates to ever …

Terra Incognita = An explanation and call for players Although there are many role playing stories on the Pub, this one will be different. An experiment, if you will. With input from PEW (we've been bouncing this idea back and forth since last November), we hope to try a new approach to story telling. The biggest difference is that this story will be illustrated. Now WAIT, before you throw up your hands and say "Well, that lets me out, I can't draw." Let me explain. By illustrated, we mean anything from scanned copyright free art, scanned letters (written by you or not), maps, rough sketches, even photos — with this caveat. The art doesn't have to be strictly PC correct…

"It was a Man-O’-War with 102 broadside cannons, light steel armor plating, eight bow cannons as well as eight stern ones, a set of swivel guns, a set of prototype black-powder mortars, and a three-headed naval ram. Its body was painted crimson and its sails were black. The figurehead was a nude maiden’s upper half with intestines drooling out her bottom, and the Ship was called “The Devil’s Whore”. The ship wasn’t like any normal Man O’ War, because the ship’s hull was slightly slimmer and sleeker than other Man O’ Wars, making it faster almost like it had the hull of a Frigate." -One of Sister Hawk's introductory paragraphs, describing the vessel As ye can read from t…

THE FIRES OF LOVE AND INTRIGUE Maribel had told Carmen the story of her family in exchange of Carmen’s story, and how her brother Chema got to be sold to a smuggler who brought him somewhere to the Spanish Main. Maribel had promised her to read her the cards for the King of clubs Jose Maria, in her room, in deep secret. ”Why are you keeping it secret?” Carmen asked, naively. ”Because some people are afraid of what they don’t understand. Exactly how it was with your accusation, in the first day, that I poisoned you, when in truth you simply weren’t accustomed to the taste of the spiced coffee with cardamom. But what if people believed you and thought that I use poison…

Monday, 3rd "Oars! Iron Oars!" The blustering voice of the English privateer captain on deck jolted me out of my reveries. I had heard shooting a short time earlier; no doubt they had taken a prisoner who spoke Spanish. I blew gently on the wet ink in my journal and softly closed it. A young privateers burst in and said, "Hey, you better get topside. The Captain is looking for you!" "Iron Oars!" thundered the captain's voice again from above. I followed the young man to the main deck. Standing at the rail was a man in the rough brown cloth of a padre or monk. He stood quite erect, with each hand folded into the opposite sleeve of his robe. At his sandled feet lay a wo…

The door bursts open and is filled with the sudden silhouetto of a man. A brief strain of Spanish dance music swirls in the stale, fetid air, and his form is illuminated by a burst of thunderbolts and lightning. He steps into the Pub, slams the door behind him, spits the damp, macerated remains of a cigarillo on the floor, takes a rasping breath, and speaks, in a thick accent -- Spanish, but tainted by long years cruising the ports and byways of the Main. "Jou do not know who I aim. But I know who jou are. I haive been seerching for you seence I was only seex years old, but I would know jou by sight anywhere. I recognize jou by the deformities jou carry. Jou, wit' …
