Yup, we're back from our week-long excursion to the East Coast. Our original plan was to plow through the land-locked states from Milwaukee to the Hampton Roads area in Virginia, and then toodle southward to our final destination of St. Mary's Georgia. I started off the day of the trip making a last-minute run to the bookstore to get some reading material for m'self and the missis. Many thanks to all those who posted their recommendations - alas, none of the top-picks were to be found, so I was left with just my wits and luck to pick an appropriate book. I ended up getting her "The Sea Wife" by Holly Cook, which I'm told turned out to have a decent story, though just a h…

Ahoy Mates, if one were to travel to the UK for whatever reason, and found one's self with some time to explore, what do ye recommend as must-sees / must dos pirate-wise in the UK? Starting in London and able to go most places in England proper as well as Scotland or Wales, but of course with only a few days to do it all in. Anyone with information on visiting the Execution Dock area of London much appreciated, as well as any other piratical places anywhere abouts - Bristol? The Jamaica Inn, Cornwall? Mousehole? Landsend? John O' Groats? Greatly appreciate any information ye can share. Many Thanks, aye!

We were thinking about going to the Renaissance Festival, near Tampa Florida, in early April for a day or two of our vacation. Has any one been to this? Are there any Pirates there? Or anyone selling Pirate Goods? Is the faire large or small? Any information on the Faire and camping areas close to Tampa would be greatly appreciated. I already checked the Website for the Faire, but I wanted information from other faire goers or participants. Thanks, Candy

Just makin' a call to all out there about a bit o' trouble I be in. I be new 'round this port, an' I suppose not everyone will know who I am, but I thought it ought to be mentioned what the goings on are here. I'll find myself without without a place to drop anchor for some time. The internet will be unreliable for me, so it's without an idea of when I'll be back that I find myself. If it weren't for the trouble, I'd probably visit more often and talk much more. I be lookin' forward to gettin' to know you all better, whenever that may be.

Anybody ever seen the Maritime Pirates of Greenport Long Island, NY in action? On their site they talk about having a Pirate Museum in Greenport, but unfortunately they haven't updated their site. Has anybody seen any of their performance work, or been to the museum??

I went to Australia and New Zealand over the summer and it was amazing. when i was in Syndey about to climb the sydney bridge ( amazing a must if you go) i saw next to Captain Cook charater tours was a man dressed like Tim Curry from Muppets Treasure Island, he was adversting a Pirate themed tour of the Australian coast. It was about 300 $AUS for two, i think, but it sounds like fun. Then in Auckland, New Zealand, at the nautical muesum they talked about Maori "pirates". So it was just great seeing pirate-like history from other places then the Spainish main. also, i was wondering if anyone has been to Austalia/New Zealand? and would like to talk about what they saw th…

Ifn any o' ye are goin' ter be in the neighborhood o' Rhode Island this Saturday mornin, there be somethin' goin on in Jamestown wot I think I should alert ye to. There's this race, and the rules are that ye have 2 hours te build yer vessel outta non marine materials on the town beach, then launch it and sail it on a downwind course. Tis hysterical! THere even be a prize fer worst example o' naval architecture. While it don't necessarily be piratical, tis all abou' creativity, so's ye can make it as piratical as ye want....

https://editions.covecollective.org/place/execution-dock Execution Dock Execution Dock was the site of a scaffold in Wapping, London, in the modern borough of Tower Hamlets. It was historically used to execute pirates, smugglers and mutineers. The last executions were in 1830. In London Labour and the London Poor edition: Phase 1 Of the Mud-Larks. (Volume 2): "Execution Dock to the lower part of Limehouse Hole, there are 14 stairs or landing-places, by which t…

I ran across this site and the pictures just ooze with history... https://spitalfieldslife.com/2016/05/08/watermens-stairs-in-wapping/ Watermen’s Stairs In Wapping May 8, 2016 by the gentle author Wapping Old Stairs I need to keep reminding myself of the river. Rarely a week goes by without some purpose to go down there but, if no such reason occurs, I often take a walk simply to pay my respects to the Thames. Even as you descend from the Highway into Wapping, you sense a change of atmosphere when you enter the former marshlands that remain susceptible to fog and mist on winter mornings. Yet the river does no…
