William Brand Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Ahoy! This list is provided as a roll call throughout the year to gage the number of attendees who are staying inside and outside the Fort Zachary Taylor Historical Park at PIP 2007. The attendees will be listed by camp (period or modern) or hotel. Attendees may be a part of any encampment without camping inside the park and interaction during the festival is not limited to camping arrangements. The list merely reflects names and sleeping arrangments of attendees and the list will be updated towards the end of the year with a "confirmed" status for those attendees who have secured their transportation to and from the event. There is period camping in the 1680 Port Royal Buccaneer Camp, the Mercury 1720 Careening Camp, the Red Coat Camp and the Sutler Camp, as well as modern camping and hotels. We would like everyone to sound off as often as they can with updates on when, where and how they will be attending PIP 2007. If you do not know where you will be staying, you may still be posted to this tentative list. Please send me names, tents, hotels, encampment information, etc. For information on the period camps or other arrangements, please see the other threads in the Pirates in Paradise forum, or post your questions here. Diosa De Cancion Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 I don't know if you want a list of everyone on our crewe by name... but we have at least 5-7 more so far who are going... Diosa De Cancion aka Mary Read www.iammaryread.com
William Brand Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 I don't know if you want a list of everyone on our crewe by name... but we have at least 5-7 more so far who are going... I DO want a list of everyone by name. We want to show the vast numbers who are interested in attending. It creates a brushfire enthusiasm. People will attend an event with large numbers, especially when a good encampment is involved. Atmosphere is the thing.
hurricane Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Greetings! We don't have a roster as of yet. Because of the way our crewe operates, we don't really fill the manifest until we get closer to the event. It's more of a rewards system for those who do the most work in the year and who really want to get into the swing of what we'll be portraying down there. I don't want to create a false list, as some of our crewe is also here on pyracy and I don't want to commit them without having everything firm up on the "management" side of the group. As soon as we get a more firmed up list, we'll add it though. -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. callenish gunner Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 god willing the new clockwork heart will keep me going though the next year or so :) :) :) and all things being equal i'll be there making my new sutler's packing cases this week to load the tent and goods onto my trailer with the lad's help perhaps he and a couple of more will be with me come 2007 ..we'll see how his college schedule looks for the fall
the Royaliste Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 This is too far out for any of us putting our 'John Hancock's' on a roster, but we are doing our best to make this work into next year's schedule. If it all works out, we'll be sleepin' aboard, anyhoo!.. Unfortunately, that it sounds like a three day event, instead of two weeks, I'm not sure we can commit to the sea miles ( We'll be in Halifax, Nova Scotia in late July) and related time travel involved. For those aboard, little has changed in respect to that aspect of an actual traveling ship. I'm hoping it works out, but my prickley hairs on the neck are starting to have marching orders! William Brand Posted December 26, 2006 Author Posted December 26, 2006 If memory serves, there is another pirate festival in Florida about the same time as Pirates in Paradise, so you might have two festivals to sail to.
hurricane Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 I know of no other festivals in Florida during that time - there's Clearwater, but that's in November. And there's nothing in December in the area. If there is one, please apprise us - don't want to miss any. :) -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. the Royaliste Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Not to hijack the topic, but when and whassup with Gasperilla??? We're totally dumb on Florida events....
Jack Roberts Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Not to hijack the topic, but when and whassup with Gasperilla??? We're totally dumb on Florida events.... Jan. 20 & 27 Gasparilla Fest Its only 2 days, and they are spread apart. I hope you can make for PiP though. It would be nice!
William Brand Posted December 26, 2006 Author Posted December 26, 2006 Ahhh...that's the one. Too bad that it is so far out. When is the Florida Pirate festival? And where?
hurricane Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Pirate Fair is in Clearwater in mid November. BARF is in February/March - Gasparilla is a great drunk fest but not something that would value a nice ship like the Royaliste. It's more the clown version of piracy. -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. the Royaliste Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Many thanks for the information, Hurricane. Some folks must think we have some kind of 'crystal ball' of knowledge on events, but it's actually damned hard for us to get much information at all given the fact that we're always on the run, and it's either 'Kat or meeself at the helm, with the other gettin' some badly needed winks.....'who's reading the crystal ball?'...duuuuh
Silkie McDonough Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 God willing I will be camping in one of Callenish's 'rooms'. If for some reason he can not make it I will be in the 1720 Careening Encampment sleeping in a canvas lean-to beside m'lads from 2006, "Padrig n'Jimmy!
Sheila Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I am in with Hurricaine and Diosa in the Buccaneer camp Sheila forever! Green, it's not a color, it'a obsession!!!
William Brand Posted December 29, 2006 Author Posted December 29, 2006 Thank you all for continued updates both privately and publically. The list will contiue to grow, and while it reflects only the tentative few who wish to attend, I do hope that I shall not have to remove any name. Please buy those plane tickets early. By them. Paint yourself into a corner. Then you will have to go.
Silkie McDonough Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Please buy those plane tickets early. By them. Paint yourself into a corner. Then you will have to go. Worked for me in 2006!
William Brand Posted December 29, 2006 Author Posted December 29, 2006 I came into some money in 2005 and bought the tickets. I didn't have any money for the tent. I had no money for clothes. Still, with a plane ticket burning a hole in my pocket I was forced to find money and go to PIP.
Salty Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Good Sir, I will look to attend with Callenish should my kit an trade be enough to do so. ye potter wench, Saltypots Mud Slinging Pyromanic , Errrrrr Ship's Potter at ye service Vagabond's Rogue Potter Wench First Mate of the Fairge Iolaire Me weapons o choice be lots o mud, sharp pointy sticks, an string
Capt Rusty Wild Rice Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Count me in. I hope to bring a long boat for the event. Otherwise I will be in the careening camp. Capt. Rusty
William Brand Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 My how the list grows and grows and we are only on the seventh of January. All attendees are strongly encouraged to focus on recruitment of new and old pirates to this year's event. Early recruitment will give these new attendees the time they will need to prepare kit, education and funds for PIP 2007.
William Brand Posted January 17, 2007 Author Posted January 17, 2007 And still the list continues to grow. It is already larger than last year's list and I hope that as the year progresses, it will grow without losing anyone from it.
Ol Man From the Sea Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Plannin' to be there. Way to soon to think about camping though. I'll keep you posted.
