When I get a chance, I'll post pics of the Pirate Brethren event gallery website. Until then... suffice to say, we had alot of fun! Hey, four battles in one day. What a blast! And thanks to the Crewe of the Archangel for coming so far to join us. You folks are great! It was a pleasure!

It was cold but sunny. The company was terrific. Thanks to the Archangel Crew and the Baltimore Rangers and local militia for making it especially great.

Prisoners were taken, released, taken again, and even hung. Trails were held, warrants were executed, and coffee flowed.

Wore my new shoes and stockings and mantua, tried out my new sword, fondled a blunderbuss for a while, beat up some pirates that were trying to kidnap me. All in a days work...

It was terrific. I'm tired. The hounds are unconscious. I'm sunburned. Let's do it again!

I offer my poor amateurish photographs until those more skilled than I can post:

Trial.jpg

The suspected pirates were tried by the local magistrate.

PiratesAttack.jpg

But their fellows were not to be deterred. The pirates attack!

BaltimoreRangersDefend.jpg

The valiant Baltimore Rangers defend the villagers.

DeafPiratesGallows.jpg

The bloody aftermath before the gallows.

shoelooting.jpg

But even The Law aren't above a little looting.

Hanging.jpg

A sole pirate left spinning in the wind.

In other news...

JimArt.jpg

Jim Hawks and Art laugh.

JimHawksDraydeGeever.jpg

Jim and Dray hang about.

Sebastianhiding.jpg

Sebastian hides under Jim's coat.

Just a tease.....

Thanks. As we were walking out to do one of the battles, one of the guys in the group, who is always willing to nail people for their looks, either good or bad, turns to me and says, "you know, the Brethren is looking REALLY good."

We've come a long way. And yet there is a long way to go. Ultimately, it would be nice if the road could lead us to a reconstructed "turn of the century" port town, filled with reenactors portraying folks from all walks of life, and with a ship or two in the harbor.

Which gives me... a cunning plan!

;)

Blackjohn requesting permission to enter town to trade...

Haha... that was actually taken during the Officers' Meeting. It is the same paper I used as proof of entry into the port of Annapolis.

I think I made a grave mistake. When the govt troops asked to see my papers, I was carrying a brace of pistols and holding Vera the blunderbuss. I think they took me for a trouble-maker!

B)

ps - there will be some here who think, "you are awfully clean and white looking." Trust me, dirt doesn't show like you think it would. That shirt is pretty grungy and hasn't been washed in at least a year.

Oh do tell! Do tell!

Could I have a real coffeehouse? Like as in a real building? And perhaps a tailor's shop that catered to reenactors?

You know, they used to do this thing for a week every summer at Belleville (I think). Reenactors would come and basically populate the town for a week.

I'm "in talks" with an event organizer in St Mary's City... for those unfamiliar with SMC, it is Maryland's first capital, much of it has yet to be excavated, they had a coffeehouse which has been excavated (but not restored), they have a replica ship, the restored State House, and much, much more. Historically speaking it is 99% perfect.

While I don't want to downplay the importance of the Lockhouse, I do like to think of the Lockhouse as a dress rehersal for an even bigger event at St Mary's.

St. Mary's Cittie is an awesome site and I've always been kinda disappointed because I think it is incredibly under-utilized. It's one of the earliest sites we have in the US and it seems nothing ever happens there.

Let's make something happen!
