Favorite BAD Movies

I think we all have a favorite "Bad" movie, don't we? But what makes a "Bad" movie bad? That's hard to define. Some bad movies have bad actors and acting, some have good actors and bad stories, and some movies are just bad overall. One good measure of a "Bad" movie is to look for cheesy effects and/or sets (which Frank Zappa referred to as "Cheepnis").

Here are some of my favorite "So Bad They're Good" movies:

Yellowbeard - this might have been a different movie if Marty Feldman hadn't died halfway through filming. Still a lot of fun. As the tagline says "A rollicking yarn for the young in the head."

Godzilla Movies - except for the first one in Japanese. The rest are loveable stinkers.

Get Crazy - this one has to be seen to be believed! Lou Reed, Ed Begley Jr, Donovan, Bobby Sherman, Malcolm McDowell, Daniel Stern. A way-out rollicking rock-n-roll comedy. My favorite bad movie.

Death Race 2000 - twisted and funny. Must be seen.

I could go on all day!

What are your favorite "Bad" movies?

So I guess I'll be goin' first then. It be difficult to think about bad movies. If I like them then they must be good, aye?

Vibes: the first that comes to mind. Cindy Lauper, Jeff Goldblum, Peter Faulk. Terrible movie, but so quoteable!

Dr Who: I'm talking the made for tv americanized FOX network Dr Who movie.

Penn and Teller Get Killed: I'm not sure I'd call this a bad movie. It's more of a good, but completely pointless movie.

I don't be feelin' much like long lists, so that's all yeh get.

Zoolander - I watched this one while sailing from Norfolk to Seattle. I almost threw the person who picked it out overboard.

Remember the Titans - Same trip. Great movie the forst 2 or 3 times. By the end of the first week and about 30 - 40 views of that movie and the great feeling I had watching it was gone replaced with a hatred I have never known before.

Zoolander? Ewww!

Now, that one takes the cake.

One of my guilty pleasures is The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I own two versions of it. If it were up to my dad and my honey, they'd be in flames.

Well, you said "bad movies"!

Gotta add a few:

-------------

A Polish Vampire in Burbank: I don't even know where to begin with this one. The tale of a young vampire coming of age, but unwilling to take his first victim. Sounds touching? Well, maybe. Highlights include Judo for Jesus, plastic skeletons with bad wigs, EDDIE DEEZEN, and my favorite, try this quote from the "queer-wolf"

"Years ago, I was bitten by a queer. And now, whenever the moon is full, my wrist gets limp, my eyelashes get fuller, and worst of all, the next morning I wake up with the worst pain in my backside."

-------------

Cannibal! The Musical: Just see it. From the creators of Southpark, long before they were famous or had a budget. It's spadoinkal. Indians played by japanese (they even fight with samarai swords), rousing musical numbers ("hang the bastard, hang'em high!"), and a giant cyclops that squirts goo out of his eye. If you pay close attention, you can even hear the voice of Cartman, years before he was invented.

--------------

Orgazmo: Also from the southpark guys - a comedy about a mormon who becomes a superhero while working in the porn industry. Not for the timid, while the movie features no actual nudity or sex that I recall, it has tons of explicit language, rocket powered sex-toys, and Saaancho.

--------------

Raising Arizona: Yes, he's done bigger flicks since then, but I still think Nicholas Cage's career peaked when he was running through the city with a box of pampers under his arm and pantyhose on his head while hillbilly music played in the background.

Ye mean "There Should Have Been Only One?"

Heh.

Aye then. Prepare for th' list o' Crappy Moovees.......

In no particular order:

Midnight Kiss: Vampire flick with a hottie vampire..well, if you're into guys that kind of look like the lead singer of Skid Row and walk like elephants....and dress terrible.

Black Roses: Demon metal band. Nuff said. It's just one of those movies that USA kept playing late at night when I should have been in bed back when I was a teen. I grew attached.

Howard the Duck: Actually not "bad" per se, but some would call it bad. One of my favorite lines: "What's white, yellow in the middle and always reminds me of my birthday?" This movie is also the inspiration as to why I sometimes call Cleveland "Cleave-Land".

More as I think on this..

"Don't hate me because I'm beautiful. Hate me because I am robbing you, tossing you overboard, and stealing your ship!"

So far, I'd say Zoolander still rates the top of my list. However, others that should be scorned:

US Seals (not to be confused with Navy Seals)

Starship Troopers (how they could even share the name with the book, which was actually good, is beyond me)

Many old kung-fu movies

She was bigger and faster when under full sail

With a gale on the beam and the seas o'er the rail

Redneck Zombies- Fangoria magazine ran a contest for amateur make-up FX, the winner got their movie distributed. Unfortunately, there were no rules about plot or dialogue.

Manos: The Hands of Fate- for all you Mystery Science Theatre 3000 fans

Rumors of my death were right on the money.

How old is the movie? If it's new then I've probably been hiding under a rock again and that's why I have not heard of it.

Ahh, what ARE these movies? I've not heard of them! Well, save fer Zoolander, which is not really bad, but it's a stupid funny kind of movie. It be me friend's, like, favorite film. @_@

Okay, fine, being a wench, me guilty pleasure is Clueless. Yes, I knows, it not everyone's favorite movie, but really, it be not all that stupid or bad. It IS based on Emma, byone of history's greatest female authors, Jane Austen.
