The farthest I've ever been from the sea was somewhere in West By God Virginia, and I felt like I was in a big bowl surrounded by mountains. It was weird. I spent a week in Kansas about 3 hours north-east of Witchita on a job once. It's so flat, the trees so squat and the land so sun-kissed that it's beautiful in an austere way. Lots of gullys and ravines and whatnot. You could be the pirate of the ravine during the wet season. Mycroft: "My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher, yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?" John: "I don't know." Mycroft: "Neither do I.
