Ransom
Sore — but in a good way. Have spent the last two days working like a slave in my garden. Pulling weeds, trimming winter-dead foliage and branches, spading veggie beds over, pulling more weeds! Most of all enjoying the smell of fresh earth, and the warmth of the SUN!!! Hang in there, Jill. We all have times like those. It's all part of the "That which does not kill us" learning experience. ...schooners, islands, and maroons and buccaneers and buried gold... You can do everything right, strictly according to procedure, on the ocean, and it'll still kill you. But if you're a good navigator, a least you'll know where you were when you died.......From The Ship Killer by Justin Scott. LadyBarbossa
::: hugs to Jill, hugs to Cheeky, hugs to Kendra, hugs to all::: Jill, I completely understand. Cheeky... likewise... Kendra, hope that hip mellows out soon enough. I feel for ya. Trying not to let the mounting stress (big things and little things) get to me. TOO much of it that happening and I'm having to revert to some odd means to keep a lot of it from tearing me down. Despite a wee snap earlier today that is threating the great wall to topple down upon me. yo ho yo ho ~Lady B Tempt Fate! an' toss 't all t' Hell!" Red-Handed Jill
I'm hoping that this spate of weirdness passes soon. Today about half a mile from where I work, a man is holed up in a condo, surrounded by police. He apparently violently attacked a prostitute and then locked himself in this condo. Right now, there's a standoff and the road between my office to the freeway has been closed off and traffic is insane. So I had to go to the bank during lunch and I made my way to an alternate route. I got stuck behind a huge propane truck and subsequently was not able to see the traffic light - at all. When it was time to turn, I followed the truck and was closely followed by another car. So closely that if I had stopped or even slowed down, I would have been rear-ended. Next thing I know, a traffic cop stops both of us and we're both cited for running a red light (that I couldn't even see and I would have had to run anyway to avoid an auto accident.) This is particularly distressing because the last time I got a ticket was in 1992! GRRRRR!
Iron Bess
Must be in the aire.... Police shoot out down the street from me this morning... Officer wounded but saved by his vest (Thanks the Gods) and the perp dead in a driveway a few doors down. Police and tape everywhere.... Phoebe would not stop barking. Sad. Very sad. Well, you may not realize it but your looking at the remains of what was once a very handsome woman!

Cap'n Kisslin'
Must be in the aire....Police shoot out down the street from me this morning... Officer wounded but saved by his vest (Thanks the Gods) and the perp dead in a driveway a few doors down. Police and tape everywhere.... Phoebe would not stop barking. Sad. Very sad. That's scary when that stuff happens so close to your home. Glad to hear that the cop is okay. I myself is hoping I'm not getting sick and really really looking foward to a day off from work. I was sailin' the high seas, 'round the Florida Keys. Trailin' that merchant ship, the one I'd catch and strip. For she had me swag, and flyin' an English flag. Red-Handed Jill
In the Fremont standoff, the police eventually threw seven teargas cannisters into one of the windows and the guy exited and was taken away. Apparently, he has a history of violent behavior. The woman he attacked was hurt, but not too badly. At least she was able to get away from him and call the police.
