There be an acupuncture point on yer ear fer seasickness - ye can get a little studdie-thing that stays on wit' tape, and when the mood hits ye, press the thingie and zippo - there be no more blues... ...Qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum... ~ Vegetius

Cire
I have never really had a major case of sea sickness. If the feeling is anything as bad as the sickness feelings I can get with migraines... well, last one I got I started singing sea shanties, and just focusing on the rhythm helped set me ta rights... took me mind right off it... Don't know if sea sickness be feeling the same though. Because the world does revolve around me, and the universe is geocentric....
Captain Scurvy Dog
Aye...me ears have heard many a tale of sickness of the sea... & all in common was the Want to DIE! a Tear forms in me Eye when i hears that... For me own Father took me out to the sea since i was a wee Pup... he'd even let me skip from schoolin' & take me... for Deep Sea Fishin' was me Fancy... Now the Reason i says about the Tear is that i did not find out till Decades later that me own Father got Terrible Sea Sickness but bore wit it cause he knew of his Son's Love for the Sea... i always had known me Pop was Tough... why he even used to get his Teeth Drilled & worked on & even Pulled wit No Anesthesia!... he had said, when he was a Pup it had cost extra, so he just got used to not ... & also hated Needles... that Stuck wit me as well. (Sniff) Anyways, Aye... Sea Sickness be a Horrible Illness, i'm told. Captain Scurvy F. Dog
Scupper
Another cure is to press between the tendons in your wrist. If you feel between them just above the wrist joint you'll feel a small node or lump. Press frimly but not hard. it will make the queasiness go away. Both my parents had cancer and were treated with Chemo. That's what the doctors had them both do to get by the sick stomachs. said it works on seassickness and motion sickness as well. Scupper "That's the navy for you. Rum in the scuppers today. Mr_Scabbs
Yarr... Seasickness is a brutal one. Just this last December I got ill on the waters. Me folks and I traveled to Florida, and I decided that it would be a wonderful idea to go deep sea fishin' out in the Atlantic Ocean. I was picturin' somethin' fun--ye know? Fishin' all day while drinkin' grogs left and right. Well, turns out the barnacle scraper of a captain didn't allow drinkin' on his boat. Not to mention he packed the entire rig with rowdy Jr. High landlubbers who couldn't tell the difference between a pelican and seaweed. As the tiny turd of a boat left the harbor, it raced across the waters and violently rocked and swayed us. It was me mum who was the first to get ill. I turned to me father and said, "She's not cut fer the sea, is she?" Then next thing ye know, I've got my head over the side of the boat and I'm vomitin' me breakfast all across the vast blue ocean. (Arr...I sure hope them fish like Goldem Grahams cereal.) To make the long story short, I was in horrible pain from wretching 8 hours straight. I didn't even catch a single fish. Grant it, I only held the rod and reel for about two minutes total throughout the entire day. On the plus side, though, those Jr. High kids got to see a dolphin. Too bad I was "yarghing" over the deck and missed it... "I like nachos. Mermaid nachos." DocF225
I'm not really a doctor but I play doctor all the time. The acupuncture/pressure point is probably the best route other than medications. The point works on the nerve pathways from the inner ear which acts as your body's internal gyroscope. The wrist tendon pressure point works on the queasy gut in much the same way. Many of the marine supply catalouges sell a wrist band made of elastic with a hard plastic knob on it. Just place the knob between the tendons of the wrist and the elastic band exerts just the right amount of pressure. I worked on a Dinner Cruise vessel for a number of years and we always had problems with passengers getting sea sick ( on a River mind you). Depending upon the size of the vessel you can take steps to cut down on the motion which causes the inner ear to go nuts. Stay near the center line, avoid the bow or stern and pick a point on the horizon and watch it to prevent seeing too much movement. Doc Wiseman - Ship's Physician, Stur.. er... DocF225
If twer last December, I was likely in some burning building or another. Spent most of the month covering vacation spots at work. 19 Fires in 31 days must be some sort of a record even for my little metropolis. Doc Wiseman - Ship's Physician, Stur.. er... Capt. Flint
Been on the water my entire life, even lived on a boat for a while, and I've never had it. So....... I have no idea what will cure it. So in my own ameteur way I reccommend a lot of booze and then have really wild sex on a water bed, before you evr go out to sea. It might not cure you, but, it would make the tirp a lot easier........ The Capt.

Zorg
Have always avoided mal de mare, but I've a friend who swares by ginger tea, right before taking deck. There's something about heavin back and forth in a tight, stuffy cabin that can get to the best of us tho. Drop a kitten six feet, and she grins... Drop an elephant six feet, and ya gots yerself a mess ta clean up.... Sometimes bein' the biggest and most powerful is the LAST thing you wanna be.....
