Capt. Sterling
I need all tent footprints as soon as possible for those camping in the Fort. Captains and crewe leaders, if possible can you collect all the information for your crews and forward it along to me either here, via the Pub, or at the provided email addy below. Due to the change in location and the amount of space we have to work with and safety issues, I need to lay out streets and alleys and cook camps. My intent is to make sure crews stay together, but I cannot guarantee this if the information comes in via bits and pieces. I would be much obliged to groups forwarding all their participants' foot prints in one email. (archangeljhsterlingcpt@embarqmail.com) I want to make the new location as user friendly and as safe as possible for all crews, vendors, demos and spectators. Thank ye all for your assistance with this matter. Hawkyns
22x22 including ropes. Merchant area. Hawkyns Cannon add dignity to what otherwise would be merely an ugly brawl I do what I do for my own reasons. I do not require anyone to follow me. I do not require society's approval for my actions or beliefs. if I am to be judged, let me be judged in the pure light of history, not the harsh glare of modern trends. Crudbeard
Capt., Pirates of the Dark Rose are planning on the 12X18 we usually bring, and I assume Viceroy will want to bring his 10 ft diameter. But we will need room for the artillery park in front of the tents too, and the ship rail for the cannon lessons if you want that. Wow, this is going to be tight in the Fort! Has anyone stated whether the cannons can go on the walls this next year. that would help a lot. http://darkrosepirates.com/crew_crudbeard.htm
Capt. Sterling
Wow, this is going to be tight in the Fort! Ahoy Crudbeard how are you and Lady Barbara...and than little feathered rascal of yers? Ye Mate have way with understatements but have posed a very good question. I will look into placing pieces on the wall and see if that is feasible for this year. I will also post another thread for the number of artillery pieces joining in the festivities this year in order to provide the great guns a proper park of their own. If you wish to camp near the Artillery Park just say so and I will make happen. Regarding the demo ye wish to provide, would ye be wanting to do that all day or would ye rather we give ye a set time once, twice or what have ye for each day? Can ye give me dimensions on the ship's rail that ye will be using so I may take that into consideration as well? We have also not forgotten yer request for cannon drills prior to the battles and we shall make sure it gets on the schedule. Are ye going to Blackbeard's by any chance? If so, look forward to seeing ye and yer lovely Lady and we shall make the time to sit and discuss some of these items. Guest
My tarp's footprint in the Buccaneer Camp is about 8' x 8', since we are camping inside the Fort, I will need to borrow short tent poles this year.

hurricane
The tent for Red Handed Jill (or Jill Handed Red on this site), Booty and Youngblood is 10 x 12 including staking. They will be in the Buccaneer camp again. -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. hurricane
Thank you sir! With Diosa heading to the Wrecker's camp, looks like the Buccaneer camp could use some more abled bodied (I can't vouch for this) re-enactors. The Wreckers are lucky - think of all the "modern" conveniences they'll have compared to the other camps. Lucky folks, says I. :) -- Hurricane -- Hurricane ______________________________________________________________________ http://piratesofthecoast.com/images/pyracy-logo1.jpg Captain of The Pyrates of the Coast Author of "Memoirs of a Buccaneer: 30 Year Before the Mast" (Published in Fall 2011) Scurrilous Rogue Stirrer of Pots Fomenter of Mutiny Bon Vivant & Roustabout Part-time Carnival Barker Certified Ex-Wife Collector Experienced Drinking Companion "I was screwed. hurricane
It was in Section 3 of the changes Fayma posted. The fort festival is having a wider interpretation this year. Here it is: 3. ...We will not be limited to just portraying the Golden Age but piracy from the Buccaneer era all the way through the early 19th Century and Florida's Pirate history as well. All groups will be required to present demonstrations from their chosen era. So there are plans for a Wrecker's re-enactment since that was such an important part of Key West's history. So, more modern attire, more modern stuff to have in that part of the camp. Should be cool having everything from GAoP to Wreckers. D B Couper
The fort was built prior to the War Between the States (Civil War for you Yankees) to block the shipment of supplies to the Confederate States. Wreckers would "salvage" cargo from ships that had run aground. Buxom Anne Marie and I will have a camp set up portraying what we imagine a wreckers camp would have been. We will have masts and spars, with furled sails, and under the canvas tent will be various salvaged ships articles. Costumes will be of 1840 vintage. I, in Jack Tar attire, and Buxom, in a hoop skirt, will present the history of the fort and of the wreckers. Hopefully my "vintage" field camera and black powder flash will be completed in time. D.B. Diosa De Cancion
Aye Mickey, I have been talking to DB about some of his plans... and well... let's just say he's likely gonna make my job of having a Wrecker's camp represented darn easy! I have a stack of history books on the topic that I am going through right now to be able to depict the era more accurately...and yes, that means there is sewing to be done. I know I will be pulling out the sugar cane press again - as it still would be used.... and am working on a couple of other demos too :) Cool!
