Hester
The neighbours' contractors' radio blaring through my closed bathroom window. I'm trying to drown it out with Rhett Miller's The Believer, but it's not working. And I'm particularly cranky because it's a beautiful day and I can't open up the windows and enjoy the fresh air. (Yes, the pool installation continues, in fits and starts, a month after it was supposed to be finished. I was away for 10 days, and I don't see any apparent progress in the meantime. I expect this will go on until the ground freezes solid in the winter.) Anyone got an isolation tank I can borrow for the duration?
Hester
Well, how apt! The neighbours' contractors' "classic" rock commercial radio station just played "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC. Sartre was indeed correct when he wrote: "L'enfer, c'est les autres!" P.S. I think I'll have to get that slogan on a t-shirt. Or perhaps as a tattoo. Manglin' Maggi Maloney
silence. i am listening to dead, flippin' silence. i woke up hours early and can't go back to sleep! unless the lopsided rhythm of the ceiling fan humming counts.. it's unnatural to wake up before daylight on a Sunday morning. Hester
The unmistakeable clatter of an aluminum ladder. The neighbours across the street are climbing up onto their roof for some reason. BriarRose Kildare
[Note to self: Remember to close the blinds when you take a bath today, as there could be more than just squirrels and birds peering through the upper windows.] Hester you always know how to make me laugh. Thanks. As to what I am listening to is absolute silence which will soon be broken once I get my wee little guy up from his nap.
