capnwilliam
Hey, Coastie, I'm wearin' a T-shirt with the logo of the U.S. Lifesaving Service on it. Ever heard of that? Capt. Capt. Flint
Ahoy there Capt. Scarlet.... We have reached a hundred and we are just getting started. Glad to have you aboard Capt. Scarlet. I happily await to see what you have to add to our forum. Well, what say you me hearties..... 100 already. I raise a glass of rum to all of ye. May the wind be gentle on your backs, strong in your sails and may we all ride the waves to fortune...... The Capt.
Coastie04
Capt. William, Aye, the Lifesaving Service be'd a fine service in its day. However, just one of the organizations that binded into the modern CG. I would be interested in how/why you've a shirt with its logo on it, considering it was incorporated with the Revenue Cutter Service in or around 1915 to form the Coast Guard. capnwilliam
Aye, Coastie, the reason I have a shirt that mentions the U.S. Lifesaving Serving is because a couple summers back we visited an old lifesaving station at Chicamacomico (sp.), near Cape Hatteras, NC. They put on a nice show and lecture, and fire one of the old lifesaving guns that they used to use to shoot a line out to the storm-tossed vessels. Great fun! I highly recommend you stop there, if you're ever in the area. And it's a great area for pirates, since nearby Ocracoke is where Blackbeard fought his last. Then there's also Lost Colony; and Roanoke Park, where they have the Elizabeth II, a full-sized, sailing replica of the type of vessels that brought the colonists to the New World, in the 1580's. I'm havin' a hard time decidin' if I want the floggin' or standin' behind the cannon when it's bein' fired. Gee, that moonlight plank walk for two sounds soooo romantic.
