I will be at the Washington Rennaissance Fantasy Faire today where PC Arguments are not present. If I hear any directed at me ., I will ignore the person as a whole and move along . Probably I will be in the pub drinking Porters ., blowing the froth off a few and listening to sea shanties from people not dressed correctly (But having a good time) Hopefully I will see Females wearing the minimum garb standard.

According to NASA ( I am going with NASA ) ........., I think Pats right. I'm not going to be worrying about it. Also we just got our foreshore lease approved for the marina in San Jose. I asked the engineer working on my Foreshore about the sea levels at the beach., he says the records for the last 61 years (thats when the registrar began keeping tabe on such things there) He says historically things seem about the same., there fore I trust his judgement on the elevation requirement for our sea walls. He says with 7107 islands there he see the water mark all the time......., he thinks we are safe. Me too

This was one of the few times I wasnt carping......., I actually meant those words in a solemn sort of way..., I was merely engaged in thought while typing. Alot has been lost due to the inability to read or write..., only the well to do were school'd much of the time I think. Just a thought.. And my meaning of History was written by the Victors ., I didnt mean that to offend .,but actually I think thats true., I could be wrong .I am wrong alot. However I still didnt mean to offend., sorry. I bet French and Spanish versions might be differant in detail to Englands over the embarrassmentof of Trafalgar. France doesnt like the celebration . And I think there is a lot to be learned in Spains Archives yes... (I bet its a treasure trove actually.) After they did discover the new world. I dont wanna fight anymore and I really did not mean to offend..., Sorry for the interuption.., excuse um whaaa., go ahead., please assume the melee' .., I will enjoy from afar.
-
Me too.Remember the old saying History is written by the victor. One will never know. And what has been writen by the command of those who wanted it wrote a certain way. Many questions., questions., questions.,questions. *Sigh* and finally........................................, What has been lost by the inability to read or write .

Yes..,Black Bonie.., as a matter of fact I Feel your pain all the time. For an example I have not posted in "Your Garb" or the other threads basically because I have seen a few not too good get ups get some praise., and others that were good tho not ACCURAtE get critisized pretty harshly...., I dont need anyones approval to do what i am doing. So ., I figure., I will do as I please .,and to hell with anyone who doesnt like it.,Personally I try to avoid such topics., My respect levels go out the window and I get more pissed off than anything. I see what many have and could have bought such things had i wanted them...,I have a sort of mixed bag and i like it . It really isnt anyones place to judge you is it ? But then again its the Internet and people feel the need to help you even tho you dont want it. I have found if you dont want the BS limit yourself to what you show. I do not get into threads about my coats footware., shirts., pants or any other things., I just dont want to hear it to be honest with you and i have been here 4 years. I do not mean to sound harsh or deter you from the Pub ., but apparently you see it already yea? Anyway., I feel your pain. Part of my do it my way.., is made up of things I got from the people on the pub that inform others..., actually the "Pub" members are historically doing their best. picture this..., (I know some are cringing) I could go to a faire one way.,then change a bit and cruise a tall ship., then grab cargo shorts modern leather sandels.,a dufflebag and "Poet shirt" and a tricorn and be on a plane to japan.,and be walking around that way., My tricorn goes EVERYWHERE with me., all the way around the world! You see I am not really a re-enactor.,I actually believe i am a pirate.., imagine that !!! I feel because a garmet is a few hundred years out of style is no reason to dump it .,think of it this way., "Be your own event " ., Then take it with ya! And bring everyone ya can! "Hey they do remember me" Be cool Black Bonie take "The Pub" in stride its good place ., there is room in the world for re-enactors., fairgoers ., and yes even SCUBA divers.

This thread has caused me to look thru my pics..., Its been fun . I have many pics of the Intromuros (Manila fortess) Manila Cathedral. Fort San Pedro Cebu (Active 1565-1833) I think thats gAoP ! Colon Market (The first public market in Cebu (now 450 years old., I bet a few people got knifed there) Sto Nino Basillica ., Dept of tourisim ., the National Museum., the Open Hall of Heros., 1472 till WWII Luneta and more. I dont have a university education., I am sorry about that I cant compete there., I am being honest.., Therefore I had to take my 8th grade education there physically for 10 years and have travel around yearly over seas for hands on learning with all things from Magellans time forward ., its an obsession. Lots of cool pictures., Yea the Philippines is a treasure and a true far east caribbean and more. I especially like it because its pro american and they speak english. Its amazing. I can inudate twill with more pics than most would care to see. Just the museums alone ., not the diving or other stuff ., just the history.

I realize this is in 1521 ., It is Ferdinand Magellan being killed by Lapu-Lapu on mactan (Which by the way is AWESOME for Scuba ! ). Lapu-Lapu is very tattooed. this is 179 years before 1700. There were tens of thousands of europeons in the philippines by the GAoP . Catholic Churches Cathedrals., Fortress ., Huge Military might. Anyway these Seafarers came and went along with the Manila galleon., (Built in Manila with lots of good Philippine Mahogany) and they shipped with treasures from Cebu to Panama. Here is an old painting from Manila's Dept of tourism and National Museum outside Luneta park. This museum is great., and so is the Colonial Museum in Bacolod, Negros Occidental. Lots of cool matchlocks , pottery.,ship models.,conqustador helmets., a few coats and hats all throught the spanish colony of 400 years ! The Philippines has quite a rich maritime and pirate history. The PH having 7107 Islands sounds like a lot ..., how about 17,000+ islands of the neighbor..., "The Spice Islands? The Spice Islands was the whole reason for Spain funding Magellans Exploration (Cloves.,Nutmeg ect.,ect., Anyway try to imagine no sailor got a tattoo. in 170 years. then thru the GAoP none., then all of a sudden tattoos stared again., so only during 1680 to 1720 tattoos were exempt? Their were more sailors in more places than in El Carib for sure. If you dont know this history your missing the other 2/3rds of the worlds GAoP !
-
So what evidence does everyone read ? Is it english? Are the pirates you read about English? were they in the New world the spanish main and el Carib ? You have read ALL there is to read and know everything? So the GAoP is not a time period but its actually just a small place on earth at a certain time? for you? Or is it Global ? And then I must ask so then you have read everything about every one everywhere ..., during the GAoP of course. So Japan ., China., the Philippines (rich in maritame history as much as any in the caribbean) didnt matter ? The 7107 Islands of the Spanish philippines is something you can elaborate on ? You can speak and or read Spanish or Tagalog? and learned it in school there? Actually how many europeons came to the philippines from 1521 untill the Golden age., do you think maybe thousands? or perhaps tens of thousands? Suppose maybe a few got tattoos there? Tattooss were BIG in the Islands ..., I know that I dont need to give these numbers tho ., cause I know you know them. And besides better for me you do your own research ., after all if callenish Gunner isnt believable., why would I be..., You are well versed in Asia as well then correct? or do the timeline questioned have no relation to this part of the world for you or your agenda? I have much to add to this topic., but I like to know from the people making the arguement are they really knowledable in this geography? I am betting not . If so I bet you wouldnt be arguing your case about tattoos not being on sailors., Earth was a big place in 1700. I am betting your knowledge is more limited then a few care to admit. They had sailors., and they had europeons as well in the far east. Is the GAoP just for the Caribbean?

I cant give you that info at the moment Wages . My cannon maker friend "Wes" is currently unavailable., But i will try to find out when I see him., i believe its his book. Here is what we have so far for the Axe. Any idea what No # 12 is ?
-
Damn M.A.d'Dogge That a right fyne collection yea got ., I am very interested in that fish tail., I was thinking of getting the slowmatch version.
-
Yes and no "Bloody" Bill Marley . its actually called a "Thunder-Mug" . Primarily these were used by the Alchemist as a powder tester ., with that said however they were also used as short range mini - cannons. You can see a few Thundermugs here as well as a few other fun items, Handgonnes., Matchlocks ., Arquebuss .,ect.,ect., Also notice the .50 caliber Boarding Axe !!! and Yes we are working on a few of them as well.

You might think this is nasty.., I did.., but infact they are delicious. 1 avocado - peeled, pitted, and cubed 5 cubes ice 3 tablespoons white sugar 1 1/3 cups milk 1 teaspoon fresh lemon or lime juice 1 scoop vanilla ice cream DIRECTIONS Place avocado, ice, sugar, milk, lemon juice, and ice cream into a blender. Puree until smooth. You can do the same thing with the Yellow Mango., it too is an awesome drink .
-
Nope ., not a wooden pattern I believe it was this magnificent piece.
-
If I was starting out a collection of cannon.,I would grab it., you bet. It is that jr size that still makes a BIG BOOM and yet is still portable enough for a few sailors to move. Its a great catch for someone. But.., I am pretty much done finally with the aquisitioning part of being a collector.
-
Ahh.., Captain Jim.., you are a nasty booger when you are in a fight ta be sure sir. I like to be on your side to be sure. ! Grog............, lots of grog..., Then the Gun..........., Really big gun..................., Cannon..., with grape................., Lots of grape.,from a big bore.., from a distance............., then hot mortar shot to burn there sails............, then more grog.....,then more grape .,light the fires...., and grape them to pieces while their dyin to put it out *Wicked-Wicked-Grin* ya see...,just nasty......,. *Grinnin* -

Actually its been me lucky day so far ya know., 3 jobs.,with 20 miles.,done by 2: 00 p.m. picked up 2 - 1/2 gallon Growlers from Dicks Micro-Brewery., a stout and a Barley wine. and am now enjoying the sun sippin a cold one nibblin on Jalapeno cheese and re-finishing Als Napoleon with a fresh coat of black paint after all the recent celebration. I feel good

Finally., from .mov's to .mpg's ., wmv's ., the converting which misaligns video and audio., all straighten out in "Movie Maker". What a mess. I wish my Kodak took video in AVI instead of mov . Anyway this video is a culmination of the 2 weeks before during and after July 4th 2007 . Lots of little booms in this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iloGsofITII

Yes this a sort of awkward question. Cartridges are cool and considered very safe., as opposed to pouring from a flask into a recently fired gun with a hot ember still down the bore turning your flask into a grenade. I havent made cartidges., but would like to learn., but not on my own., from someone who has done it. I do make them for cannon.,and they are much safer and faster. There are actually some weapons for example an 1851 navy., that is cap n ball ., where the gun has a built in press., ., the ball fits so tight into the revolver chamber., that it is pressed into place with a press on the gun itself. In my experience the barrel wall of say a sea service pistol is not as thick as say an octogon .54 caliber lyman . The sea service uses a lot less powder., and it uses a ball that can roll in and out of the barrel freely., so as to not have it be a pipe bomb. To keep it from rolling out ....., you use the correct patch....., and not use a ball starter and mallet., or you run the risk of ramping up the pressure.., a greased patch can help get more shots off between cleaning also .,it cleans a bit itself actually.and snugs the ball ., which in smooth bore helps with badly needed accuracy. Rifled barrels and conicals run without patching., so do cannon., but once you get to an inch (for cannon) ., the ballistics change radically on black powder pressures. patching cannons is a bigg no-no according to the NSA. if you need to take up some slack., you should be getting a better fitting ball mold or use a sabot. I just do the way I was taught and explained., I have been wrong before...,I just try to follow safety and rules as I understand them.
-
I wonder if someone at the factory mismatched some .54 caliber balls into a .50 caliber rounball box..., could be Mick .., you never know.
-
I do....., just not politically motivated music ., I wasnt really interested enough in the retoric . . or the non lead by example policy to catch any of it........, and to be completely honest., it makes me lose respect for some of the participants as a whole. you know Niel Young .,I aint singin for pepsi.
-
Hmmmm., If your balls wont go in the barrel., You may want to mic the barrel..., at least youll know if it is truly a .50 caliber., I have never heard of a .44 Queen Anne but ., you never know. I bet you got a .50 and a bad batch of balls........., please do not misunderstand however..., the patch for a .490 ball would be., and should be an .010 ., you are writing .10 thats a HUGE differance. So I am not sure you are using the correct .010 but I bet the balls are not right..., perhaps at a sports shop you could take the QA and try the .490's they got in stock. If you are using a .010 ., then you got .490 + .01 +.01 and it compress's a bit as to not roll out of the barrel..., but it aint much. .01 not .1 On the underside of my Pedrosoli the Serial No# bore size.., all that should be there.?
-
I use an .010 greased patch with a .490 round ball in my QA. Yes the pillow ticking you are using is thick., your combo patch and ball cannot exceed .50 or it cant fit. A Pedrosoli QA is actually a quality barrel and very true to the advertised .50 so I would definitely keep to the .490 ball to keep your groups (target shots) tight., just thin out the patch., go to a shooters shop or sporting section., youll find pre-lubed patches in a variety of thickness. I find lube helps and please DO NOT USE A BALL STARTER AND A MALLET. you want the projo to roll in and out of the barrel easily.., the .490 will then a thin patch., tell us how you make out. As a side note what do you use for lube., Moose-Milk is good., that is some lard (Crisco) heated and blended with wesson oil., then soak and stack patches., then take watcha need., or?..., someone just told me to use Lanolin hand cleaner. I bet it cleans the bore as it shoots and is a great lubricant.

Callenish's heat treatment will work ., no new parts necessary so long as nothing is broke. Also ., just a thought., some of my guns like to throw a much better spark with the flint *Upside-Down* ., others *Right-Side-Up* ., also when I load I usually keep a toothpik in my vent., then after loading,. I pull the toothpik and prime., this keeps an unclogged air-way from the prime to the load for a faster ignition., almost like capn-ball., FAST. Have you tried to check for sparks in the dark...., if they are good., perhaps., use a marble mortar and pestle to grind your powder much finer...., into a dust.., Very powerful! .,I do this alot with my priming powder before I put it in my priming flask. I like a very fyne prime you know ! Just a few ideas that might help. What are you priming with., what kind of powder., and FG grade?
-
Captain Midnight Yea they do ! I have a great time building and piecing things together ., then testing and collecting...., dollar for dollar., and bang for the buck 1" bore stuff is pretty cool sir ! Oh if anyone is interested in shooting 1" bores.., I found the Do-It cannon ball fishing weight molds ..., for making your own weights .., makes a pefect ball ., a 3 ounce ball is .96 of an inch., just enough windage to be safe...., and big enough to catch all the gusto of the blast without losing your velocity ., Its really about right for a 1" bore.
-
Just curious., what vendor did you get these guns from? If you bought from one of the big 3 Indian made gun importers....., all have a money back guarantee., and will repair .,refund ., or trade in. But of course no one is going to guarantee your work.., youll have to do that. If you "fiddled" with it., none of them will warrantee it anymnore. 4 new pieces bought all at once sounds like 1300.00 to 3000.00 The vendor would remember you and I would be calling on them.
