It seems there was an assumption income had relevance to the question? Most people assume if you could have only one job., "Job" there is that nasty word again..., that you are infact doing it because you NEED the income? Some of us may have reached a point income is not an issue? Could be many things ., perhaps for someone ., the kids have grown up an gone.,the desire to keep up with the "Jones" if you will ., is GONE ., a simpler life that your 401k ., interest on your savings ., and your rents could perhaps take care of you if you chose a simple life., lived below your means? Could be some have a permanent income of whatever sorts? Some may have retired early and a job is something to stay active and ward off the dole-drums ? Could be the Job was actually wanted and not needed. Now we are living......, After all the question was ..., Something to ponder? I've been working hard a long time with an ugly job., in order to fullfill actually doing the job I WANT .., and now yes..., the pay isnt what its all about now......, its all about the fun ., meeting new people everyday! ., this is living ! Life is good man

I dont notice for anyones looks ., however I've never experienced any bad comments., for the most part I just do what I do ., and enjoy it. Its not really a lake ., but it is 7107 islands. and yes ., you are correct the people on the water . Ferry boat captains ., scuba banca's and fisherman seem to give an accepting nod.

Without recieving a response yet on this post .., I'll try to help you out a bit. I ordered a swivel yoke from G. Gedney Godwin last year. After not recieving it for 3 months ., they contacted me to let me know they wouldnt be getting any from the foundry for an unknown amount of time. It would depend on when enough orders accumulated to be worth a casting session. The loyalist is a casted iron over a steel pipe. Always be sure to find out on these type of cannons if the pipe is a seemed pipe (A water pipe with a weld for its length) or a DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) . The Dom is the only liner you want. The water pipe type easily rusts out in short time of usage at the seems (Black powder and substitutes are EXTREMELY and QUICKLY corrosive) once this rusts out .,youve got a real problem and an accident waiting to happen and a non firable cannon. The DOM liner in Cast Iron is a safe and good cannon. With that said ., there is a HUGE differance in prices with cannon. Do you want a Bronze for a swivel ., or will an iron gun cover your needs ? The Hern Foundry has some really nice cannon for probably the best prices out there. They make a good and safe Iron cannon. For a Bronze gun you may be interested in talking with Bill at Canadian Cannon Co. Bill will machine you EXACTLY what you want to your specs . Remember if you choose a thicker round - bar and a smaller bore ....., youll live to shoot another day . If you cheap out with a cannon..., people die. Cannon rule of thumb = Breach needs to be at least 1 caliber thick in all directions . If you build a 1" bore swivel you need at least a 3"diameter breach. if you choose a 2" bore ., that means a 6" breach...., most want the larger bore but a 6" breach is no swivel gun ., thats huge and heavy.., so they get a thinner wall..., please dont do this. Remember guns are up to 3/4" (A shotgun) Cannons start at 1" . A 1"bore is truly a cannon and provides a substantial boom ..., and if its OVERBUILT say a 4"breach to a 1"bore then youve crossed the line into BUFFED. You can load it a bit heavy and be safe ..., now you really booming ! And NO_WORRIES . For a 3rd idea ,., probably the cheapest way to get a High Quality gun that eliminates the rusty water pipe cannons ., would be a solid steel 3 or 4 inch round bar machined to your liking . Again check with Bill at CCC for his steel cannons . For example Bills 1/5 Scale 24PDR Garrison Tube, Steel would make a fyne swivel with a yoke and tiller. Remember ., when you die ., your cannon will be owned by someone else..., perhaps your son. He may not be as cannon savvy as you. How would it be if some one you love died because you cheaped out? Go heavy . A bronze gun will cost more ., however you can control the machinist to build what you want. A pre-made pipe and cast iron gun.., is someone elses idea of whats right? AND WILL RUST and become unsafe. BRONZE wont do that. Bottom line ..., cheapest cannon in a bronze swivel ???? 3 or 3 1/2 "diameter bronze round - bar to a 20-22"length with a 1"bore. If you go bigger Bronze costs alot ., but thats about as small as you can go., be a cannon and be safe ., for ever. Add a yoke and a12"tiller and youve got a nice gun. I hope this helps ., Good luck and what ever you decide ., please always share your cannons with the Pyracy forum members. (We love cannons) Here are my 3 sizes for ya .

Oh thats not my crewe Merry .., I was just helpin'them out . I do it every year. No my crewe is an ominous and nasty bunch ., a ragged band of mischevious individuals really., The kind yer mother warned you about you know. The gal in the pink (Kathy ) has since past., those are her children., the fellow with the brown shirt next to me.., he owns the computer shop ., He and I do this each year . We are lucky tho we have a local auto-parts store that makes us a "Car care package" and we have a book store that donates ., an arts and craft store., so we end up with a good raffle for the things. The relays are sad and happy We try to make fun and get the money When I first started and saw the ribbons ., it was my father that explained to me what each color of ribbon means (Differant colors for differant cancers) ..., We are all very lucky as we all know., if we dont get cancer.,someone we know will. It affects EVERYONE. Yes Captain Emerald Shaunassey they are outstanding I am excited to see them., they do look great.Rich

Thank you both men ! ., Its been hell really.,I am going thru a double Discectomy . this is the removal of 2 disks at the c4 and c5 level. Herniated., worn out and vertibrae rubbing bone to bone . this is causing me pain and paralysis.., so.., we are trading pain and paralysis away for a certain amount of immobility...,? How much i dont know. I am recovering at home now., with a metal plate across 3 vertibrae held intact with 6 screws...., they fish-plated me keel mates ! Cut-me throat whilst I was sleepin' they did. I am determineed to continue SCUBA., there fore a good fusion is necessary in the healing process. life changing events are happening for me., no more "Rooter Service' (The employee operating it wants to buy it. I will be completing my move over seas soon., the house is for sale !!!!!!!!! Cannons DO make pirates feel well defended (They readied the bedroom for me) If youll notice they included for me the "Bell of the Town-Crier" just in case I needed something..., water?..,another pill ? L. Silver ..., now thats my idea of a swivel sir !

Oops., in my delirium in between whats real and whats not real., I for got the real reason for my reply. Yes Wild Imports is over. I do have a small wild imports cannon as well . I do like it however it is a HMS Victory Signal cannon.,the 1.75"bore makes a wonderful report however the wall thickness is not one I would trust to fire a projo weighing any more than a golf-ball., Now after talking with Osvaldo ., Mr.Gatto..., the owner of the Manufactoring plant., I am very interested in a 6 of his waterloo barrels. these are also a 1.75 bore and are much heavier in the breach. Mr.Gatto has produced and sold 1800 cannon to the US and and many more times that in europe. His heavier cannon are capable of live fire and are a beautiful golden bronze ., (not so much red as in my 660 bronze stuff) Mr.Gatto is a wonderful armour and makes wheel locks ., cannon and other delightful weapons of war his emails to me are prompt., polite and hard to beat..., Osvaldo Gatto [avancarga@osvaldogatto.com.ar] If anyone would like to visit Osvaldo and Martins (Son) web-site here it is.,, Please book mark it. Martin can be seen in photos through-out the web-site..., he is the one dressed like a pirate !!! Réplicas de Armas Antiguas - Prof. Osvaldo Gatto Oh and to touch on RGB's work., Duck Islands cannons.., They are fine pieces of work., Jewelry if you will. I have seen their work up close., all you can do is steel ideas. their carriage work is outstanding and second to none., like a fine gibson les paul ., they book match all the pieces., even the manufactor of the wheels is correctly book-matches grains., Out standing work.

Sorry to be late to this conversation..., I have a curranet case of "Cut-Throat". After doing a search of Cannon I did however find this most recent thread. As with all the pirates on the board .., they all have sound advice to give. As with Captain_MacNamara I will say for sure the Hern barrel is the most for the money. Rusty Barrels is most certainly correct when he states Hern disclaimer as being a legal issue and not an issue of quality. Imagine the money a 2008 cannon lawsuit would cost today. Ugly. Along with Capt Thighbiter I would also agree I have felt safe with my Grey-Star. I have a small 1"bore 6 pdr from grey star and it is sure a loud and fun bang. Moving up from a 1"bore however will greatly add to your cannons weight., I believe Capt Thighbiter's Grey-Star is a 1.5 bore., which is substantially more cannon however still mobile. I think from all my cannon the most power to weight ratio would be 1.5 to 1.75 bore class .., they are very loud and still light enough to move. I cannot help you with personal experience on the Large Herns (Full Scale 6 pdrs.) However I can say on my own personal 3/4 scale herns ...., a pair of 3"ordinance rifles in naval carriages ....., Yes we do live fire rounds.., the HERN CANNON is for more than blank charges., you can feel confident in owning one. If you live fire it., start with smaller charges., then work up a bit., never pack a tight load. Mine are 2.25 "bores and weigh 340 pounds per barrel . We break the sound barrier with pinapple and mango juice cans full of concrete . A Hern is a good deal. Then lastly there is having one machined out of solid billet.,it costs more., but you get more. All these pirates have sound advice., These pirates speak from experience. The one sound piece of advice I can add is........., If you dont have time to inspect., clean ., and oil the gun (Cannon) then you dont have time to fire it. Start with small loads.,clean oil and inspect..., you'll live to fire another day. Fair Well.

Victory was built between 1759 and 1765 and yes the carriages were Yellow in 1805 . However ., in earlier years for example ., HM Bark Endeavour commanded by Captain Cook had Red Carriages., The Conn has some Red Carriages......., and yes., I have Red Carriages. Natural stained or laquered carriages look pretty but for the most part were considered unfinished . Not many first timers like to finish a Civil War 3" ordinance rifle in OD green or a blue grey...., but carriages really were not left in a natural wood tone finish. Painted may sound unattractive....., but it is correct. Paint protects the wood from the weather. Red was used., as it wasnt as demoralizing to the crew during battle (Red hides blood very well)

Well thats a pretty good question. Many of the mobile homes are trashed., the so called modular homes which are almost a mobile home built on site.,and the $300,000.00 dollar particle board OSB chipboard homes with 2 X 2 and OSB edge floor joists ect.., are literally ruined yes....., will they all get removed..., no. Some will ., some will not. FEMA will come thru and assess damage .., compensate them..., and then they will let them build with saw-dust and glue again??? Amazing .
