Wow ! Its been a long week . The clean up has begun. the biggest relief for people trying to move........., is....., I-5 opened up today., this will help get things moving again. Hey Rusty !!! ., We are ok., very busy as you might well imagine. Our house is dry., it stayed dry in the last flood as well however we are in a hole., if the water comes up a bit more we would get inundated. This time their is 10 ft over I-5 Hurricane., I am sure you remember that nasty we had in 96..., that was 8 ft over I-5. Needless to say my phone has been ringing off the hook. We have been helping the Cities waste-water management ., as well as sand-bagging for people and now alot of clean-up. For Sub Scale and modern replicas theres alot of rules ., and Switlick is coming out with an updated book which I am sure will cover them. Switlik doesnt cover the breach., I'm sure thats NSSA . Casting solves the trunnion problem., but it too then opens up a whole new can of worms. For example you should pour vertical not horizontal.., but then the barrel should be sleeved., I am still learning too. Sorry.

Thats a distinct possibility ., Red Handed Jill would also make for a great Bronze gun as well ., after all Bronze is a red metal. There is a male pirate on the board however who's very piratical name would indeed look great on the next cannon ., and I already had it in my mind to ask him if he would be o.k. with his name going on my carriage. There is a pillow block mounted to the rear axel just below the quoin that I will be putting the names on. But the swivel will get thename above the cascabel., as there is no carriage. Nah ., I am not that crafty ., I dream them up for our purpose put the design on a jpg in photo shop and then hire them out. "The Red Cat Jenny" Was built by Bill at Canadian Cannon to my spec. This is a new beastie we have been working on..., its not completely finished. it needs the tiller installed so I can aim it. Anyway I am very excited about this one and hoping to fire it soon. We have 6 more coming soon...., this is the first of 7 ...,the next 6 will be carriage mounted. We ( I ) am wanting to name these after Pub Members as they come in. Probably I will put a name on the carriages....., If a members is ok with it. But this one I beleive will be getting its name above the cascabel on the breach in the Bronze since a swivel has no carriage. I was wanting to use Pub members names that I thought would be befitting to name a cannon for our Scuba Craft. ........, Meet "Red Cat Jenny". Yes . My statement is not directed at any one person here., it is an observation and just my opinion on how I personally feel about it (The labels) ., over years of being around faires., and other assorted events thats all. I do feel we are all pirates ., its the spirit of the game that holds the fun of the event.., for me. I view patrons at these events as pirates., not as catagorized types of pirates. Thats what I ment. P.S. On the over all I do not expect to be accepted by any group and am not a part of one, Therefore I usually do my own things with a few freinds and enjoy it amongst ourselves..., our way.

I feel "Pirate" should sum it up as a whole ., after all most people observing you can tell thats what you are. You are a Pirate...,they know that. The only other pirate is what I refer to as a "Pirate Dick" . which is some sort of a person who feels the need to correct me for what i am wearing., as if he or she has a right too? I dont need "Pirate Myth"., or "Hollywood Pirate" or ? some other "Plastic Pirate"., it is derogatory., sort of like "Drug Store Cowboy..., is it not? Clearly the statements and judgements do degrade someones attempt at their fun. I can say gee you got better clothing than i do....., but your apartment in Iowa doesnt look at all like my beach.., You sure dont live what you preach ! There how'd that be? Would I be considered rude to say that., even if it is true? Well then the same should be said of people who volunteer critisisms., critisism actually hurts feelings more often than it probably helps. Its not my job to tell others my stuff is better and they should be like me..., your stuff is not correct..., thats pretty poor behavior really. Seems i have mentioned her ( Cheng I Sao ) in several posts of the last 4 years. and no-one wanted to acknowledge it before ., now shes on CNN and everywhere . Is this the "Pyracy Pub" or the "GAoP Pub" And piracy began the first time someone built something that floated., someone tried to steal it. however.,it seems many try to gear the Pub and piracy in general to the GAoP even tho thats such a tiny little fraction of time in the history of the world and pirates .,and also some feel Asia didnt even exist between the dates of the golden age let alone the nineteenth century ( i wonder if Cheng I Sao knows she didnt exist by people who just play pirate?) . Funny isnt it that Spain got more property than anyone else by far., and they were not limited to the caribbean. Personally when I hear the word pirate I picture an attitude or an act., or acts., and the sea., a ship ., ect., I dont picture in my mind a time line. The hollywood pirate comes to mind alot ., but dates to me do not. Perhaps the Mods should define the Pub ? Oh and i need to add to the post above mine., I just read the pulitzer prize winner of 1959 written by Admiral Morrison.,titled John Paul Jones. It seems the british considered him quite the pirate .
