You choose the parts., round headlights or square ect., it takes about 4 weeks to make your car. Usually they are using 3 year old Toyota parts. For example this car is 2003 Toyota Cressada Tilt telescopic 5spd. High backs ., with 40k miles from japan ...., turned into this for.........,get this..., US $ 4,500 .., nice eh? They tape some areas., and rough sand or smooth polish., then pull the tape ., presto nice pin striping., a surgical Jeep> They are a kick to drive too!

That was about 4 years ago ., The top first then the bottom ., after completion .,then I use cardboard and make templates for the metal work. Kind of an as you go thing. I can take some photos for you this weekend and a few measurement if you like. As I remember to get the roll top the strips are cut at an 11 degree taper for their length. The real trick is the lid sides.

Or do I do as Sailors once did... and make something that I really can use....

I made mine for my needs .., I do things for what I can use for my surroundings.

I wont make it for an event ., thats expensive for me. Then again I dont go to many events .

However it wont tell you how to build ., for that since there are so many differant designs., I would suggest asking and reading at Greybeard Outdoor .Greybeard Outdoor Cannon and Mortar forums This is also where Wes "Powderkeg" is doing his threads on the Build ..., look for his threads and just follow along . The most recent thread is the building of the drill bit to drill my bores. it is Powderkeg's Treatise on Drilling

and OOOh my poor back as well as Toolpost polisher This will probably be going for about 6 months ..., Including the lathe work as well as the finish work right down to polishing then a cypher !

Anyone here can check out the cannon forums at Greybeard outdoor and Muzzleloader. It is none of my business what anyone here does......., however let us please consider a few things about cannons.

Rule No. 1. ALWAYS build a cannon like it WILL out live you..., because it will.

Rule No. 2. Some dummy will get their hands on it and over load it .., and hurt people if it is not built right.

A cannon is not simply an over sized muzzleloader like a big pistol or rifle . Its alot differant than that. At 1" the ballistics of Black Powder changes drastically. A pipe should NEVER be used with a fiberglass outershell ? or some other fake cannon.

Pipe is usually rolled and welded ..,it has a seem .. where black powder can get "Blown into " causing erosion to the pipe. Failure will eventually occur.

The correct pipe to use would be Seam-less ...., very spendy. Also the breach plug should be machined that curves.,with-out a hard 90 degree where again corrosion occurs., thus failure.

Also ..,

Rule No. 3. the breach end of the cannon needs to be at least equal to the bore in all directions .

If you are not playing by these rules you are dangerous and a hazard to everyone around you.

The NSA has established these rules for proven safety after failures .

Continued faliures can add up to the cannoneers losing thier rights.

That would be a terrible loss. You can read about plenty of accidents on the afore mention two forums. Every time their is an accident it threatens us to lose our ability to own and fire them. As responsible cannoneers to ensure cannoneering is part of the American pastime and future we must not let anti NRA types and other do-gooders to capitalize on accidents......., Accidents cant happen or cannoneering becomes history

If it looks like a cannon ., build it to be one.

If you cant afford to do it right.., save until you can.

I started a thread a year ago about 4 newly commissioned cannons I am having built. I have been in line for these waitin my turn (They had several orders ahead of me) Also he is having to fabricated tooling to actually make it all happen. The maker has just gotten started . He is posting the creation of these cannons as an online project., we have upped it to a 6-pak.

4 Stainless cannons and 2 Bronze. Its a pleasure to watch Wes work he is a master machinist..., if anyone is interested I will post the links. These are going to be small ......., but REAL and done right ! These will be sharp. They are for our Scuba boat.

P.S. yea the Buckstix cannon and mortars are built right and so is Jefferson Armory's cannons. THEY MEET NSA RULES.

I have several coats., all to my own design.,and all made by others at my request on machines and of non period materials. I have reasons for this actually....., However I must say I am impressed with all 3 coats.., the skill and determination of the makers ..,attention to detail .,original materials., it doesnt get much better than that .

Yea.., isnt the Columbia., a Remake of the "Columbia Rediva" The sister ship of "The Lady Washington" The two ships Captain Grey used to sail from the east coast to the west coast by order of Thomas Jefferson...,pre-Lewis and Clark ? Too bad Disney couldnt wake the people up about what the Columbia really is.....,the first American Ship to circumnavigate the globe......, It was the first American ship to the Orient (Japan) for the Fur trade.....,the history of its origination is so much more than a Black Pearl.

After all they have a Mr. Lincoln .,Walt was interested in history......, I will miss Columbia.............,It really is beautiful. The Columbia should be everyones memories.., Its an American memory ., it represents American history......, the Columbia River was named after the ship as it was sailing up the Great River of the west ., Captain Grey was attacked by "Injuns" while on these ships.

As the only model of "The Columbia" It would be sad to destroy it in favor of something that looks destroyed?

Nah there not fer anyone......, theres some things I keep just fer me !!! *Wicked-Wicked-Grin* O.K. Lets see I gotta back to Mexico on Feb 25 thru March 3 ...., to get the last 3...,. yup 3 more.,How long does it take? well......, The Doc did 3 in 3 hours that included taking a mold of the teeth before and after she prepped them for the crowns on a monday tuesday., and a wednesday. Thursday The lab created them and I was back in the Docs office friday for fittling and setting. 3 were incorrect.,the lab tech came in ., looked..., and said come back tomorrow to me and the dentist.,come back at 8 am Saturday morning., He worked all night., come saturday morning there he was at 8 am waiting for the door to open !!! ....,

I gotta go back at the end of this month to get a root canal., this is the last of it..., since I am going all that way., and the flight and hotel......, I may as well do 3 more....., Do ya need another photo after March 3rd?
