  1. Me Jan/Feb issue o'No Quarter Given came today.

Aye they been behind we all know. I be glad they be

    gettin it goin again.

I hope ye all caught me article about this here Alex Bay Fest,

better known as Bill Johnston's Pirate Days.

What a better Pirate to celebrate than one who DIDN'T meet up with ol Jack Ketch?

  2. Coconuts in the grocery store are never fresh. They are the ones that islanders just cast away. The real fresh coconuts are still on the tree and are in green husks. The meat is almost gelatinous and there's a lot more milk that is sweeter than store bought.

Aye lads and lasses, tis great advice fer the Mango.

But, when it comes down to it, the truth about coconuts ye gets here in these United States be quite true fer the Mango too.

Ye go into an American store and the Mangoes be green and harder than diamonds. Also no scent whatsoever. A good, ripe mango should be of a shade of bright red mixed with yellow, and maybe SOME green.

They need to have a little give to a small squeeze, and have the sweet smell. Even those that LOOK the part here in the states generally lack the aroma. Ye go down to the islands and the Mango is like a totally different fruit. I find some in American stores worth getting, but most I just leave in the bin.

  3. I don't much care for the Guayabera style. I don't want to look Cuban, just tropical.

    Aye, but I do

I know Matt it be hard to find good things fer men. Its either too flowery, or just plain BORING!! The stuff they has fer lasses puts lad's threads to shame.

I have lost a ton o weight too.

I loooooooove wearing tank tops, spandex shirts, and other tight styles too.

    I feel great in them.

I love guayaberas because they look good on me.

I don't like the retro 80s tropical thats out now with all the flowery stuff.

I like more serious tropical prints like conga drums, signs for tropical nightlife, salsa dancers, city lights, and this one pirate print I once saw on a shirt in a Sportif catalog that my step mother in law had at her house a few years ago. I was going to have it ordered for my birthday, but wouldn't ye know, it sold out and they didn't restock it. It was kewl. I hate the big flowery hula hawaiian stuff.

I like pirate shirts too with the strings down me chest in front.

  4. Kinda funny....

All three PotC movies were nothing more than a rollicing good fun time......

Hey.. and they were a lotsa fun...........

anyone that wants to argue how "authentic" they are ......

    eeergh.....

They were nothing more than fun movies.........

If you don't beleave that.... check out my post in Plunder about "an authertic Ninja Katana".......

Some people just "don't get it..."

The cool thing about the Pub.... we can discuss Authentic Pyracy.... and at the same time ... fun(Hollywood) Pyrate stuff....

    Without going "there"......

I'm going to have another Rum......

We all can play Pyrate however we want to.......

and hopefully appriceate both sides O' th" arguement.......

    agreed :)

Except Calypso turned into an army of stone crabs. It's hard to love an army of stone crabs, methinks. (Although, admittedly, I haven't tried.)

I don't remember it clearly, but I had the impression that she is the physical embodiment of one (or more) heathen god(s). The first Brethren's Court what met long ago turned the heathen god(s) into Calypso as punishment or to trap it/them or something like that, didn't they? Not a very stable sort of lover, I wouldn't suppose...

Calypso is the heathen Goddess of the Sea.

She could pretty much shapeshift to _any_ shape right up to the moment the Pirate Court bound her into the shape of Tia Dalma. She maintained a small amount of her power, but shapeshifting wasn't a power she kept.

She actually said that very clearly to Davey Jones when she was locked up. How hard it was for her to be bound to just one shape.

When she was released, she regained all her powers, including that to shift in whatever form she wishes.

    indeed

i'm one of the ones who wished Davy Jones had remained in some form, rather than being replaced by Will Turner =p

And to whoever warned against leaving your heart with Elizabeth, "indeed," to that too =p

Aye, tis something I agree with ye all thoroughly!!

And we can also agree that these fun films certainly

brought out more awareness of, enjoyment in, and desire to learn more about the actual role of pyracy in the world, than before they were released. Not to mention the desire to do what we do here, and have more pyratical events around the country, and the world.

Before POTC, pyratical functions and all were a fraction of what they have become now. DRINK UP ME HEARTIES YO HO!!!:P:P:P:P

  5. Aye lass!! Welcome to the pub!! Blue Puppy be a fine moniker to start with. Then ye can develop it from thar. We all has a persona here that started somewhere inside us, and grew out as we went along.

Ye will do the same no doubt. Enjoy this here fun place.

    A toast to ye!! :P:P:lol:

  6. Aye Jenny I hopes ye get it fixed. I hope ye all has a great 4th.

As fer me we camped last week up at Whiteface Mtn.

Next week its a couple days at ABay (b4 returnin thar again next month fer the Pirate Fest.)

Siren accept this bottle o'hydrocortisone to help those bites that the Off didn't prevent in time.

  7. Hola (not the traditional pirate greeting, I'm guessing), I be Sil. I'm new to these waters, as dictated by this board. I have a long standing interest in piracy... Though my grip on linguistics is rather shaky. I hope to enjoy myself here and make contributions.

Now I'm off to plunder my kitchen for the most important booty of all: chocolate.

    Hola Pirata!

    Bienvenidos a la Cantina!

We serve chocolate very often over at the hot tub.

    Come visit sometime.

    Cheers!
