I want to thank everyone who extended birthday greetings to me mum. Both she and my sister thought it was both very nice and cute. But are pyrates allowed to do "cute"?

We missed the Bigge Storme (or it missed us), and we are currently due for some decent weather at last. Currently 41 degrees, due to hit the 50's...and tomorrow a glorious 63 degrees. I'd rather be lapping up the sun down in Florida, but being aground in NE Ohio, I'll take what I can get...

I got me one of them fine, handcrafted pins, as well. I'm looking forward to applying it to patrons' noggins here at the library, just to reinforce the notion that when we say "SHH!", we mean it!

We wants the Redhead! We wants the Redhead!

For some strange, unaccountable reason, Its a Small World is one of the very few "safe" rides (ie, not a "thrill" ride)hat I make a deliberate point to avoid. Most of the others, if I miss, it's because of time or crowds...but I prefer to keep me head clear of The Ee-vill Song. My Must Do's at WDW? PotC ride (course!) Haunted Mansion Kilimanjaro Safari The Monorail (the transportation system of the *future*!) Tomorrowland Transit Authority Journey Into Imagination Great Movie Ride This list doesn't include the shows or 3d movies, or we'd be here a lot longer

I saw this advertised in the back pages of Seafaring magazine, and thought to bring it to the attention of the company. Maybe I should buy one myself, so I can arm my own pirate vessel...which is an 8 ft long inflatable pontoon boat, so there's no way I can mount, say, a 12 pounder on the thing. But this would be handy indeed...and wouldn't the girl pirates just squeal and coo over it... What is it, ye ask? Why, clap yer deadlights here... http://corkmortar.com/ Now, you too can bombard Copenhagen!

March 3rd be me mum's birthday, and she'll be 89 years old, no kid! Her health hasn't been that great of late, but she still tries to keep active by being a volunteer at Akron City Hospital (Akron OH). I be thinking of printing out the congrats that I hope will pour in and giving them to her on her birthday, that she may see what jolly good swell fellas we pyrates are. Along with the usual flowers. There, you see...the leeches worked!

Amazingly enough, there are! And if you go to DisneyWorld, they got this great place called the Living Seas (in Epcot), a massively big aquarium...and just next door is the Coral Reef, a great seafood restaurant. However, I found out the hard way they don't let you into the Living Seas with a dirty big harpoon to get all Ahab-y on a shark, so's you can take it over to the Coral Reef that they may cook your catch for you. Nope, they tend to frown on that, for some reason. The court case is still pending. ye mean there be others?????

Mr SutlerJon, of 13 To The Cresent Drive, Redding, would you stand up, please? (Mr SutlerJon stands) (clik...BOOM!) This illustrates the importance of not being seen.

One of the very few good things about living in Akron OH is that there's quite a lot of very decent Mexican places in the city. You wouldn't think so, but I got a friend living in Las Vegas, and she states our Mexican places are much better than those in the City of Sin. And Azteca is basically just 8 to 10 minutes from the house...and that's on foot.

Texas *is* a big state. I used to live in Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio. I guess that would be somewhat south central Texas...

Them's is nice and all, but I can't see where you put the flints...

Oo! Oo! Is it me? Huh, huh?

As Mad Capn Bob, I ain't got nothin' fer ye. No epic story, no travels, nuffin. Of course, since Mad Capn Bob is basically *me*, there really *is* quite a bit to tell...many miles be under me keel, as't were. However, under a tentative persona of Capn Allen Curtice (for SCA porpoises), that's something I'm working on. Details are fuzzy (too much kill-devil?) and the story may change (depending on whom I'm trying to impress), but... Allen Curtice: Buccaneer, Caribbean basin, mid 17th century. Originally came to Barbados as indentured servant, got fed to the back teeth with that after a bit, stole a boat and made his way to Tortuga. Kitted out and lived as a hunter on north coast of Hispaniola for a time. OR Originally a soldier in Cromwell's army and a member of the Levellers. Fled to the Caribbean when Cromwell cracked down on the Levellers, lived as a hunter on Hispaniola for a while. Here's where the versions converge: Involved in the usual clashes with the Spanish. Fitted out a periagua with some of the boys, took a small Spanish vessel, and thus began a career of piracy. Relocated to Cagway (aka Port Royal) when Jamaica was taken by the English, sailed on some of Myngs' expeditions, then with Morgan. Possibly with L'Ollonais as well. Present at the sack of Panama. That's it, short and sweet...I haven't worked out any dates yet (or figs, for that matter) besides the obvious ones. I also haven't figured out how to work flintknapping into it...hey, maybe I was shipwrecked on a wild coast for a time as was befriended by an ancient Indian flintknapping master! Aye, that might do...

My mother's a volunteer at Akron City Hospital (also a sometimes resident), and she always complains about the food. Worse'n mess hall food it be, and that's going some. don't hospitals know how important *good* food is for a successful recovery? When will they start serving patients hardtack and bully beef?

Announcing...a whole new avatar! Yes, I have finally gotten around to setting up an avatar, featuring a certain pirate in a certain location

Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion are two of my Must-Do's whenever I visit WDW. Last couple of visits I've been wearing me straw tricorn on PotC in order to "repiratize" it. Dunno what I should wear to Haunted Mansion to haunterize it...maybe something relating to Dark Shadows? But the trouble with the Haunted Mansion is I seem to keep picked up pesky hitch-hikers. I'm fascinated by the ballroom scene in the Mansion...I know its all done with mirrors (literally-The Peppers Ghost Illusion), but it's still a marvel to see.

Welcome back home, Syren! Sleepin' in yer own bed will do you a world of good. Sounds like you had just oodles of fun (Am I allowed to say "oodles"?) at hospital. Do you have anything for the pain (besides rum), and is there enough to share? Hope your recovery will be a rapid one...and at need, we can always ship you some leeches.

I hope she kept to her schedule and didn't get behind in her work...

On mine (I got called in to work today) is a scene featuring Spaceship Earth, aka The Honkin' Big Golfball, in Epcot. I *like* Walt Disney World.

I take it you have the book "Blackadder: The Whole Damn Dynasty"?
