  1. I have been a part of pirates in Ft Meyers as well as Key west and am new here on these forums. Being young and new I did not have a sufficiant name until tonight (I live in the Conch Republic state of Key Largo). Here a party is common as it is everywhere else but a pirate party among friends is also very common. anyways back to the topic on hand, I now have a name and that name as it has been given among my peers in a real pub experience (bearing in mind I own a 18 foot hobie, 21 foot center console, a 25 foot chris craft which was recently "acquired" and a 40 foot vintage ketch which have all together been acquired for under $200) which I first disagreed with due to rank but seems fitting. Has been . . .

Take what you can and give nothing back

  2. Just wondering if there can be any provisions made for those that may arrive by boat? With warning a friend of mine may be interested in sailing down (100+ foot gaff rigged schooner). And at the very least I will probably boat down again as well.

  3. Last weekend I became a part of PiP in the background helping as a part of the gun crew. This was not my first festival but was my second and I did see many familiar faces between the 2 events I have become an unofficial part of. I really enjoyed the festival and hope to become a more integral part next year. I have been activly reading many of the threads and approve of much of what I hear, regarding the safety issue during one of the battles I happened to catch a finger and while it was nothing more than a small scratch it did bleed a bit. Within seconds of others noticing there was a bandaid in my hand, my compliments even though it was so small I didnt need it the response was immediate and I was very impressed.

  4. Just think , "The Great Pirate Attack" PiP 2008... starring...

The infamous pirate, Captain Cascabel, leading the seaside attack.

Braze the brave, his first mate, leading the attack on the fort.

His first line, the deadly Bone Islanders, Spike, Scarlett Jai, and Nigel

General Harry, defending his fort with devastating artillery.

Governor Yellowbeard, nervously pacing about the ramparts.

His scribe, Willam Red Wake, attempting to calm his nerves with rum.

Captain Sterling, leader of the Royal Guard, clashing with the advancing pirates.

And many more talented actors/ actresses thrown into the mayhem.

Mustn't forget the Viceroy and his guns . . .

Actually there are rough plans for more mortars

  5. A while back when I crossed the pond (under sail) we ended up in the spanish port of Mao where the Maltese Falcon came in and anchored next to us, what an impressive ship. I didn't get the chance to go on board but I did get to look at her up close and personal.

  6. I happen to know someone in Key Largo that is capable of doing a presentation of Mary Read and could time it between shuttle runs. I don't know if it is possible to use the space in front of the Pirate Soul museum or not.

  7. We convince a schooner captain to anchor off the point with a longboat in tow. A small detatchment of soldiers are stationed outside the fort. The Union jack is lowered on the ship as the Jolly Roger is raised. The longboat approaches the beach with the pirate captain, as a cannon shot from the ship signals the other pirates to swarm from the camps. A few soldiers are killed or wounded as they retreat to the safety of the fort. Lot's of shots are exchanged, the schooner raises her anchor and exchanges volleys with a second schooner approaching. The pirates rush the gates, sword fights and close hand combat is hard fought. The pirates are repulsed and the victory shots are traded with the Naval schooner. And the next battle is one by the pirates and such as.

I wonder if we could do two battles a day, one at 12 and the other at 4?

Excellent idea on the anchoring of the schooner as it seems ships take far too long to circle and fire. The natural complication there is due to the channel. Also finding a long boat may be more difficult than one might think. But boy it would be good to be able to have 2 or 3 come around an anchored ship and actually land. An anchored ship opens a world of oppurtunities.
