  1. Here are some of the people I remember seeing at PiP last year. I may not have actually formally "met" all of them but I think we at least said hello in passing or shared some rum around the fire!

    Capt Stirling & crew

    Maddogge

    Tiger Bill

    Amanjiria & crew

    Mary Diamond

    Silkie McDonough

    Haunting Lily

    Edward O'Keefe

    William Red Wake

    Patrick Hand

    Captain Jim

    Mission

    Hurricane & Crew

    Bone Island Crew

    The Callahans

    Willie Wobble

    Greg Hudson

    Harry from the Fort

There were many more Pubbers there that I cant recall right now...

  2. Last year, a Canadian couple and their grandchildren spent the better part of the day hanging around our camp. They had their dog with them at the beach but they didn't spend the night at the Fort.

The one time he did let the dog off the leash it only took the park rangers a few minutes to show up and tell him to tie the dog up, even though it hardly left his side.

The Fort normaly doesn't have overnight camping so I don't really know what rules would apply there.

  3. Let's see...

In my driveway right now are my 98 Dodge Van, Paula's 02 Volvo S40 and 04 Dodge SRT-4. My bike, a 99 Victory V92C is parked in the backyard and my son's old 90? Toyota Corolla is out on the street leaking oil. But, my baby, a 1966 Thunderbird, is parked in the garage at work out of the weather and is currently looking for a new owner. (let me know if you're interested!!!)

  4. Iron Jon, you were sorely missed. Hope you are feeling better! Next year... believe me this is one event you don't want to miss, especially a second time.

Yes, I had planned on being there and it looks like I missed a good time from the pictures I've seen so far.

Now it looks like I'm going to have a tough time getting to PiP this year too. I'm being sent to New Mexico for 11 months to teach at the academy. I'll have to arrange the time off for a trip to Key West well ahead of time to be able to make it there.

  5. Paula and I were both armed with cutlasses and pistols during the parade. We met up with M.A. D'dogge and Billy (also armed if I recall correctly) on Duvall St and went to a few different Pubs (including the strange rooftop bar) with no problems.

  6. They were likely mine.  I left them, slops, a shirt, a pair of stockings, under clothes and a pair of rubber soled black suede shoes there.  They were suppose to ship them to me.  Perhaps I should call them to be sure they have been shipped.  Anyone have the number?

Nope, the ones they had were supposedly in my room and they were blue and white.

Good cover on that one Mission!

I was wondering how you were going to explain the appearance of Silkie's undergarments in your room...

  7. I'm in Hollywood myself. I just checked out your website and looked through the pictures. I remember seeing quite a few of your crew at FLARF this year and look forward to seeing you all again at PiP.

  8. I also traded a minivan for a Durango with the 3 row seating a few years ago. It was a trade down in my opinion and a tight fit to get all 5 kids in at the same time. You're lucky if you can fit a few suitcases in the cargo area now.

Luckily I kept my old full size, high top van. The gas mileage is terrible but I can fit tons of stuff inside and still carry a few extra people to events. It also comes in handy as an emergency hotel room, complete with TV and DVD, when the campsite and tents get washed away in the Florida downpours.

  10. I'd be interested in a few of those items but I don't know if I have anything you'd want in trade.

Maybe after I figure out what I'll be making at PiP we can work something out... I can at least give Edward a few turns on the lathe and let him make something you guys need.

  11. That's why I love PiP, I can get there and back on less than a tank of gas!

Round tip to Hampton VA will be almost 2000 miles. The rental car should get about 30 miles per gallon. 66 gallons at $3.50 per gallon average is $230 plus the cost of the rental car = $400 total.

Or I could take the old van to Blackbeard, get 10 miles per gallon if I'm lucky, and spend about $700 in gas... :P

  12. Is this what your looking for ?

April 1649 An Act declaring the grounds and causes of making Prize the Ships and Goods that shall be taken from time to time by the Parliament Ships at Sea, and for the Encouragement of Officers, Mariners and Seamen.

It's not the actual Letters of Marque but the Act authorizing "What shall be lawful prize.; Revolted ships,; all others that joyn with them,; all that take Letters of Marque from Charls Stuart or Prince Rupert,; and all others carrying Contrabanda goods."

  13. Your mailbox is full so I'll post this here instead...

I also have a new pair of boots to trade if you still need some. They are the same as this picture but in brown leather. I believe they're size 12.5 to 13 and they have never worn.

I'll take whatever I can get for them. I can't wear them, they didn't fit my wide feet!

  14. Thanks William, there's some good info there.

I'm in the process of rebuilding my shave horse and spring pole lathe so I can bring them along too. The ones I built before were with regular Home Depot lumber and modern screws and hardware. I'm remaking them using landscape lumber and pegging them together so I can take them apart for travel.

If anyone knows where I can find a set of period style, wood handled, chisels and gouges at a decent price let me know!!! I need to replace my more modern pieces. They go quick on eBay and I haven't been able to get some low enough yet.

The tool chest I built also doubles as my workbench. As pictured, I can use it with a stool and up on end it's the perfect height to work standing up.

I guess I'll have to take the rest of the seats out of the old van this year to get all my stuff to Key West.

  15. I've been putting together a few more things for my 'carpenter's mate' impression.

I made this ship's tool chest from some scrap wood left over from a neighbors deck construction.

... and here are some more old tools that I've picked up at the local flea market and on eBay. I need to get the rest of my stuff out of the storage unit and see what else I still have.
