  1. Interesting... there is a Canadian production being shot starting in September of this year... actually Cap'n John and I will likely be hosting the series.. we sat down with Civilized Productions 2 years back and hammered out the show.. it's finally starting to shoot.. so we r very pumped about it...

but like it was said ... NEVER too many Pirate Shows....:ph34r::ph34r::ph34r:

  2. Yes... we had the very same type of classes at ORF (Ontario Renn Festival)as well... thankfully I played a gypsy and or pirate on most occasions so i wasn't subject to having to speak in upper class English.. except of course when i play good ol' lizzy the oneth.. and it's upity all the way... lol

  3. well... u may wanna consider droppin anchor at PIP and bring the crew on by for a Pyratical henna tattoo...

Gangrene u say... well the herbs in me henna may help put ya right... if the don't maybe a shot o'rum...

  4. i can't imagine Morgan speaking like that considering his background...

i'd have my doubts any upper rank Royal navy/privateer/or educated man/woman would have spoken in pirate slang ... like most variations in language.. if it did at all exist it would likely have grown out of the lower class sailors and phonetic attempts at translations...

interesting that there seems to be very little credible evidence of a pirate language or dialect outside of literature and film... but... again... just because it isn't recorded doesn't mean it didn't exist... and although the academic side of me wants to poo poo the notion of a pirate lingo.. the archaeologist side of me wants to believe the proof is out there somewhere just waiting to be found.....

  5. LOL... don't think the term Dread Pirate means.. having dreadlocks...

if it is a real term beyond books and movies.. don't u think it may have meant dreadful or dread as in have fear of? just a thought...

although my pirate Cap'n is a dread pirate of the hair kind... lol :P

  6. Interesting ...

i think today's depiction of pirate lingo is really just the result of Hollywood's spin on pirates... After all pyracy was not an anomaly.. it was worldwide... spanning from b4 the beginning of recorded history to present day.... and of course pirates from their own areas of the world would have spoken in their own accents and dialects... i think WE (meaning English speaking)choose the English pirate accent as the accepted.. seeing that for us it obviously is the easiest to replicate...

    just my thoughts...

  7. I don't drink tea or coffee.. or anything with caffeine for that matter.. but a nice cup of hot lemon with cloves and ginger hits the spot.. or a good cranberry lemon ginger and clove toddy...

Sugar in Chinese tea..? obviously u're NOT Chinese... lol ;)

  8. not sure what to do with the geetar.. but i generally take along my pipa (chinese lute) in replacement of ... the body shape and sound have remained the same for about 500 yrs.. so they r a pretty good trade off.. of course u will have to learn how to play the lute.. but u can play anything on it that u play on the geetar!!!! and it's period...
