  1. That seems to be the impression. They knocked it down to one weekend and I gather the land owners are being a pain. Once again, nothing verified.
  2. H'ant been on in awhile, however keep a weather-eye out for The Alliance of the Double Cross mates. We will have the big gun out by the lake. Drop in and ask for me. It will be good to see you all in person.
  3. Avast and ahoy mates, Been a little while since I been on the pub, howe'er, if'n yer lookin' fer a nice map o' the Caribbean or a partic'lar island or y'needs a treasure map or ye gots a nice little map o'yer own ye wants in leather, then I'm yer man. Take a gander at me map I did fer a mate o' mine of the Caribbean. I kin even soak it in 10W40 if'n ye wants yer map up t'date. The one on the site is about 26ish" x 20ish" inches give er take. A large map like that is $90.00, but order it through the pub and I will take $15.00 off. Half that size is $45.00 and I'll take $10.00 off. If'n ye wants a larger map or ye' wants any thing specific, let me know and we will work it out. A few here on the pub have seen me work and can vouch for me. And I, personally, think they can't be beat. Each on is hand made/tooled/burned on quality splits and should only look better with age. Take a look at sagelionleather.com.

  6. And if'n any o' ye are interested in joinin' me and me lovely wife Salma Gundy in a little piratin' o' the airways via a Steampunk outfit. I do indeed have yer goggles awaitin' yeh. Go to me website thesagelion.com. I jest put em up, so take a gander. If ye wants any sort of pirate toolin' on em I'd be happy t'do that fer yeh as well. Regards, Captain Dunn, The Sage Lion
  7. Here's the deal. You can seal the leather after you dye it. Make sure that the dye is completely dry. Use Feibings Saddle tan. That is a good color. Or even buckskin. I think they have that. Let them dry. Seal your leather, front and back and you should be fine. You can buy paraffin from Michaels. I am not sure about bee's wax. I will keep an eye out. Give it a shot. Don't try to go too quick. You should have no problem. And remember, you so owe me. Regards,
  8. Mad, go to me website sagelionleather.com and shoot me an e-mail. I may have some scrap for you. Regards,
  9. DKG Leather in Grande Terrace. George is the owner and a great guy. Go in and tell him The Sage Lion sent ya, Mad L. You should be able to pick up what you need there and get any tips you require as well. He should be able to cut something down for you. Go in and ask. Regards,
  10. Well, ye were in the right place dear. And I happened to be the one drummin most of the time. The bellydancer was Liberte. I made a custom leather tray for her, so she was droppin' by to pick it up and ended up stayin' awhile because we are all fine folk. Next time ya just gotta jump in with both feet. Plus, I could use another drummer. Did y'like the look o' the set up? We are very proud of it. I blame Greydog for how great it looked. He has a good mind fer organizin'. Regards, Captain Dunn
  11. Oh, no. I did not type that. Total misrepresentation. Damn. I mean to say dates of the year/month etc. Not, er, well you all know. Crud. Quit bustin' me barnacles. I think I need to go back to just watching the pub. I seem to only get meself in trouble. You are all honest merchants!!!
  12. I know smart alec. I have been away at sea for tooooo longgg. Me lovely wife Salma Gundy made mention o that also. I am not s'good with dates. That is why I have students. My whole world is set to the bell schedule. Ye played a right good game of 9 Man's Morris. Didn't mean to impugn yer piraty nature brother. Hopefully we will see you at some more events so's I kin gits me revenge. Captain Dunn The Sage Lion
  13. Alas, I have only had a run through of 8 in a single session. They were named Morris however. Hmmmmm, intriguing.
  14. Aye indeed, the double X marks the spot. Twas a fantastic encampment and participants were in a good mood, despite the frequent setbacks--and it were two fires out n about. Jacky Tar, fantastic t'meet ya. Even though y'cheat like the devil at 9 Man's Morris. Got some pics up in me gallery, so head on over and check out me website. Regards, Captain Dunn, The Sage Lion THESAGELION.COM
  15. Alright, I have the rest of my pics posted in me gallery. Ye can check out last year as well there. I have so much t'write about that I only made it until Friday evening. Over the next few days I will be updating...wait, probably after that. We gots CUTTHROATS OF CORONA!!!. Drop by the Alliance's Gambling den. Cards, Shut the box, dice, and many other fun ways t'lighten yer load. Matt, great havin' lunch with you and Apple Booty and Klaus. You guys are first rate. Drop by me site and take a look at the pics. Dutch, t'was our please. Cannot beat shrimp on a bun. By the way, that heel got me. I totally ate it going out to the balcony for the Pyrate Feast. 16. They did pretty well. I bid on em also, but alas, the started going past me range. I actually won a couple t-shirts and me lovely wife Salma Gundy almost bid 100000000 dollars for just about anything. She was a bit inebriated. They did alright though. As well, me leather pouch did well also. Below standard price, but the gentleman who won really loved it and the money went to a worthy cause and that is really what matters. Cheers, The Sage Lion
  17. Well, what a great time we had. Everyone was fantastic. It never ceases to amaze me how golden pirates are. I have part of me write up and part of me picture gallery up at me website. Take a gander. If I have a picture of you up, send me yer name so I can make sure you get properly labeled. The trip was a lot of fun. Blackbead was very generous allowing me to sell me leather and dice alongside Rumba Rue. We got to meet a lot of new pirate friends and are looking forward to next year. Drop by me site The Sage Lion p.s. Drop by Cutthroats of Corona this weekend in Corona, CA and visit the Alliance of the Double Cross encampment and do some gambling. Captain Dunn, The Sage Lion
  18. Like the title says all, where is the best resource for Golden Age playing cards and such. I make dice, but where could other games/games pieces/cards be gotten? Thank ye kindly, The Sage Lion
  19. Aye Iron Bess, and I thought it were keep me skin upright against me tipper. I did have a lot of fun with the Bodhrans. It was great t'have all those drums poundin' away. Right fine and fun day I had there. Thank ye kindly. Also mirrorin' Greydog's remarks; do drop in to the Cutthroats of Corona and drop by the Alliance of the Double Cross's encampment. We had enough fun playin' the games at LORE, the actual event is going to be a riot. Captain Bryan C. Dunn The Sage Lion
  20. There was a guy who made some cutlasses. I cannot remember who he is? Any thoughts. The Sage Lion
  21. Superb friends. These are great. Keep em coming. I appreciate your involvement.
  22. Good day all, I will be doin' a little class on Pirate Trivia and the like and would like to over prepare. I have some info but I want this to be as well rounded and informative as possible. My goal is to provide pirate trivia/basics that a casual-serious reenactor may want to know to help create and continue his/her persona. Any suggestions out there? Anything is welcome. The more obscure the better. Little things that ye have picked up over the years that have added to your characters that ye may not find readily available. Thank ye for your help. The Sage Lion
  23. Well, me personal belief is that if y'are gonna wear it, it may as well be functional. I have plenty o' live steel, but as ye've stated above, the pirate fare is sorely lacking in this area. I know that Old Dominion has some nice work, as do some others. I was thinking though that perhaps we can put together, with this thread, more of a reference for obtaining each grade that was mentioned: show, spar, fence. This way, we might be able t'meet the needs of all ranges of income. Feel free to add any additional comments as ye see fit. And thank ye all fer the fine information. I will also be looking fer a boarding ax pretty soon. Any thoughts. Matt, d'ye do simply the leather wrapped handles or is there more in your repertoire? Thank ye all again. The Sage Lion
  24. Alright Brothers and Sisters o' the High Seas, I know there have been other posts in regard to wear t'get a handy edged weapon. And a good one at that. Of course, in me older age I cannot remember too many o' them. Can we get a rundown of Sword makers and other outlets? Fer that matter, any other period weapons. Thank ye kindly and fair winds t'ye all. The Sage Lion TheSageLion.com
  25. What size y'lookin' fer mate? Brass? Silver? Pewter? Iron? I got some cool ones from Crazy Crow Trading Company, a Native American company. Crazy Crow Link Give her a shot. thesagelion.com
