Well I've happily destroyed one of my new fire bulbs!
It appears the bulbs I purchased are different from the bulbs in the video example and aren't very happy with 9v/12v - especially when you try and by-pass the ICs (integrated circuits). I did get the bulb to light up/come on with a 9v battery, but only for a few seconds (not in animated flame mode) before burning out completely.
I've now ordered some 12v specific bulbs, we'll see how that goes.
Gotta love those “learning experiences” - thank you for sharing your newfound knowledge!

Talking about how hot it's going be, I was thinking we could make some of this.
Interesting…

You are doing a great job planning and coordinating!

Thanks!
I like the idea of running it off a 9v battery as opposed to a hand full of AAs. The first thing I want to test is to see how long will it runs off a fresh battery, minutes, hours, days...
Or perhaps a rechargeable USB battery pack…

Beautifully done and so helpfully illustrated, thank you!

Speaking of flame LEDs, I just bought a few of these bulbs and 9volt battery connectors. I'm not sure I'll have anything assembled in time of Massacre Island, but we'll see.

Oooooooooohhhhh, the possibilities! Great find!

William took a lot of pics and posted most of them on facebook. We did some staged ones on the beach burying treasure, marooned etc... I'll ask If I can post them here on the pub.
Please do! I can never find what I am looking for in the FB black hole…

Noice, where did you find it?
Purchased ages ago, from Period Fabric - who is really wonderful to work with.

Really beautiful work!

Beautiful work on the gathering, and I also quite like the fabric! Well done…

Well met, Jason D. Please make yourself at home, and share a bit about yourself…

Well done! And thank you!

If you are lucky enough to see linen tow fabric, snatch it up. I was lucky to obtain some, and it is my favorite for toweling fabric. It is coarsely woven, like burlap, but a heavier weight.

I Love It!! Imperfections make it perfect - machine manufactured perfection is too sterile.

Will review my stash and advise…

I typically built one coat of outer fabric and one coat of lining with sleeves attached. Then good sides together and stitch all the way around (except neck opening). Flip right side out and then handstitch the neck opening
