  1. And then it is no longer a surface.

Ahh, not lookin' to redefine "surface", but to expose the difference between flat and level. The meanings be blurred 'cause the laypersons practical applications do not require that degree of precision. (Thank goodness <_< )

  2. I have seen in some cases that a modern bard will use broadsheet words and fit them to a much more modern melody, that seems to fit the phrasing of the words.

What (if any) be the legal ramifications fer doin' so?

  3. /\ I'd be off the grid an bugged out to somewheres obscure. Tis me humble opinion that if ya ain't workin' fer someone else, an ye ain't workin' fer yerself (fer fun or profit) Then ye may as well be a corpse. Retirement holds no sparkle fer ald Morgan.

< Preppin' a small booth fer the Holbrook Medieval Fantasy Faire.

    \/ Good question-\/

  4. /\ Run fer public office. Couldn't be worse than the vermin we gots now an at least I can find me arse wi' both hands. B)

    >Found a beater guitar at goodwill. Bringin' out the pull saw an glue pot B)

    \/ Pass the Q.

  5. When the government steps out of mandating to the engineers how to increase mileage, we'll see some progress.

Flip side of the coin- Why are there so many vehicles out there getting 50% of their rated mileage when a simple tune up and $2 worth of vacuum line will save them hundreds in gas? Why are so many lured to expensive water4gas scams? Common sense and mechanical ability have been breed out of society. B)

  6. I bought a new Ford F-150 and returned to the dealer the next day

because I couldn’t get the radio to work. The salesman explained that

    the radio was voice activated.

"Nelson", the salesman said to the radio. The radio replied, "Ricky or

    Willie?"

Willie, he continued and On the Road Again came from the speakers.

Then he said, "Ray Charles", and in an instant, Georgia On My Mind

    replaced Willie Nelson.

I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I’d say,

"Beethoven", I’d get beautiful classical music, and if I said,

"Beatles", ‘I’d get one of their awesome songs.

Yesterday, a van full of illegals ran a red light and nearly creamed my new truck, but I swerved in time to avoid them. I yelled, "A$$ Holes".

Immediately, the Iranian National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane

Fonda and Barbara Streisand, backed up by Michael Moore and The Dixie

Chicks, with John Kerry on guitar, Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on

Harmonica, Nancy Pelosi on tambourine, Harry Reid on spoons, Bill

Clinton on sax and Ted Kennedy on Scotch.

    Dang, I LOVE this truck.

  7. The wishbone shaped intersection be where Livingstone Drive splits off NE from Ocean Blvd. Its East of downtown and a little west of where 2nd street divys up Belmont Shore. Ocean Blvd be yer target. Commin' from downtown LB stay on Ocean. Iffins ya overshoot ya can only go as far as the yacht club an jetty. Turn around an backtrack about 2 miles. Ya should be able ta smell a pirate by then <_<

I lived there fer 19 years, this part ain't changed much.

  8. <_< Thou me infermation is a few year old there ain't much that can move down there. The "free" parkin lot belongs to the Safeway. They don't be likin' it when their customers can't park there. To the southwest of that lot is a pay lot. Its kinda smallish too. It had ta fit between the two piers before the old one got tore down(ancient history). The largest lot is to the east of the pool an runs clear down to Granada Ave. Its had parkin' meters fer years.

I posted a map of the area on last years thread. Can't have changed too much.

    Found it-

  9. North on the 5, then south on the LB freeway. The south end of the LB fwy piddles out into tourist trap, curves around, and intersects Ocean Blvd. Turn right onto Ocean (headin' east). As yer travilin' on Ocean there be a large Romanish lookin' building, a few miles out, on the beach. That be the Long Beach Olympic Pool. Park an follow the mayhem.

Ya could leave the 5 an thread yer way up PCH turnin' onta 2nd street after ye pass the LB /SB line-- Iffin yer crazy

  10. I believe The Slaughtered Lamb in NYC takes its name from a similar inn in the classic horror/comedy film, "American Werewolf In London".

Did ya be noticin' Mr Mercer impersonatin' a young man in that flick?

I think ya needs ta follow a formula like the blues singers use. Somethin' like a random verb attached ta an animal with some sort 'o malady.

  11. Back in the 70's me first car was a '57 Chevy junker. Moved up to a '69 Pontiac GP model SJ. It was good fer about 9 mpg in the city an 140mph on the freeway ;) . Was without a vehicle fer 2 years while in England. Got me first bike in '79, a little honda 185. Traded that for a FT500 single in '82. Meet the wife then, she had a '66 buick LeTunaClipper. Around '85 I found me dream truck. T'was a '63 Chevy panel suburban. Replaced EVERYTHING on that truck at least twice. It was slow, broke down constantly but it could go anywhere with only 2wd. Got a '70 Dodge camper pu after the clipper wore out. In '88 we left the city and in '89 the wife got a Plymouth Horizon. I had a series of small 4 cyl pu's after I quit tryin' to resurrect the 'Burb. Finally got a deal on a leftover '95 Toyota pickup in'96. In '01 me job moved to the far east side 'o town an at 80 miles round trip I started lookin' at bikes again. Got a Buell 500 single cause i figgered it would be almost like me old Honda 500. Well the ride was similar but the reliability was not. It was crap, plain and simple. There was a buyer incentive plan right after 9/11 to trade the 500's up to the 1200's. If you had paid $xxxx for the 5 they would give you $xxxx to move to the 12. I surely didn't be needin' somthin' that big  but the 500 was spendin' every other weekend in the shop. Wife's Horizon died just after that wi' 285K on it. We acquired another wi' only 80k on it and she drove that until the engine fell out 'bout 2 year ago. Me boss sold me his wifes old Toyota Camry cheap, it had 330K on it, ran great, new tires brakes, everything works. Me Toy pu has 270K on it, major repairs has been a radiator, starter an fuel pump. Steering an suspension are still tight, and it gettin' @26mpg. Minor problems have been due to pack rats gettin in the wirin'. I's sold on Toyota quality cause I HATE workin' on vehicles.
