  1. so joe don finally descends from heaven. Azmyth seems to be doin a good job, equal shares for equal work and all that. no one likes his accent though. his only problem is that jay seems to excercising too much control over him.
  2. I thought the picture was an amazing achievement and a terrific new step in the POTC story. I would see this movie 50 more times before I saw any of the other third sequel movies if I could. Complete Eyegasm!
  3. I think that the producers should have supplied the competitors with some more interesting and or more period garb than letting them use their own black jeans or red tanktops or whatever they could muster themselves.
  4. I read elsewhere on pyracy that James Norrington had much more screen time that was eventually cut from the final reel. I think I need to reserve judgement on Norrington's character until after I've seen these extra bits if the come out on the DVD.
  5. Davy Jones had to have been the first to ferry the dead souls to the afterlife because they say specifically in the movie that Calypso charged her love with the task. So, if Davy jones is the first and Will only the second, it must be a relatively new magic, still working out the kinks or what not. This is the only changeover there's ever been, so there's always gotta be a little confusion. The whole "The Dutchman must have a captain" was probably began when Calypso created the position, and the flying dutchman, being a magic ship and all, was later changed in the way that it's captain used it: cut out his heart and neglected it's duties. So the ship probably wouldn't have taken another captain in it's present state unless a new heart was cut out and replaced the old one. From that point on though, the ship is in Will's care, and notice it begins changing immediately. After ten years I think it's possible that as long as Will finds a replacement captain, the whole cut out your heart thing no longer needs to be done, it can be a less gory changeover.
  6. Captain!? How could ye form such a thought in yer mind as to sell her?! The Death Knell be a member of our crew as much as anyone of us, an ye thought to do it discretely is the last nail in the casket. Express yer ideas to those of us what follow ye if'n ye plan to arrange an accord like this in the future, I request humbly of course.
  7. One is never as piratey as when one is at the Blackbeard festival! I always have terribly fine time when the year rolls round to bring us down to Virginia again.
  8. This is not so much a question as a desire for a second opinion: When Zao Fang started thinking that Elizabeth was Calypso, did everyone just play along because it was easier for him not to know the truth? That's what I think. But it also could be that it was a ruse in the story to throw you off the right path that Tia was really calypso. It really was confusing at first.
  9. Alright, who knows the exact location of filming? We're all gonna just show up and steal the ship and shanghai the crew, impose some of our ideas. Whos with me?!
  10. much thanks, now I can stop thinking about it
  11. I wouldn't say that he chose freedom over servitude in the end, I would say that he chose the right path over the wrong path. As a military man he was selfless and heroic to be sure, yet he was unable to let simple thoughts about right and wrong cross in front of his duty. I couldn't have said it better "His identity was locked up in his rank". Almost too much so.
  12. I forgot to add that I do think the character was wasted. Had he been more dynamic, I believe I would have liked him more. The worst thing he could have done was return to being a government tool at the end of 2. He could have made a satisfying pirate.
  13. I was not really impressed with Norrington myself. In the first movie he is a military man blindly following orders and a single pirate-free ambition, and ends up questioning that slightly in the end. In the beginning of the second one we find that he has lost his commission because apparently he didn't learn his lesson and was so obsessed with getting Jack he wrecked his ship and killed his crew in a typhoon. Throughout, he is always just looking for a way to return to being a "golden boy" and resents working for pirates. In the end he reestablishes himself by selling out to Beckett, exactly in the same position he started in the first movie. And then finally, in three, governor swan is executed while he was blindly serving Beckett. His only redemption was releasing Elizabeth and holding off Bootstrap. As far as I see it, he never changed until the final moment of his life, and I think he had to die in order to redeem himself fully. Not saying he deserved death, but he was such an unchanging character that had he lived, he still would not have learned his lesson.
  14. Captain Hector Barbossa has intelligence, knowhow and cunning. Captain Jack Sparrow is creative, inventive, and interesting. However, Barbossa is the one who would project a better image of fear as a captain, much like Blackbeard. Jack is great at creating complicated plans that always work out in the end. I would say that Barbossa is the better captain, but hes only successful when he has a crew. Jack is the better individual pirate.
  15. like any of their actions are even reality. You know that the director set John up to steal the compasses and thus be labeled the devious pirate. they probably go ahead and slip them little ideas here and there to make the show interesting.
  16. [Myself, I have been immersed in the idea of the pirate lords. I started noticing that they may represent actual famous pirates from the moment Mistress Ching showed up. I have been trying to figure out who each of them represent since. I'm not sure if Mistress Ching is the name of the real pirate. I have pinpointed that the french pirate Chevalle is actually Edward Lowe, jaw scar, red skeleton flag and everything. I think the short bearded villanueva might be Blackbeard due to the fact he flew the flag depicting a demon with a pitchfork stabbing a heart . I have no idea about the others and have been wracking my brain for answers. Anyone have any leads? COLOR=red]
  17. It would be a dream come true to crew your ship. From the moment I saw the Royaliste down in Virginia for the Blackbeard festival last weekend, I was stunned and Iwish that I had seen this thread sooner.
  18. I sacked the same town 25 times. Port Royale is mine, mine I tells ya!
  19. what tha hell is wrong with all of you? Guy is a pirate ta tha core, an I would give me right arm ta crew alongside that crazy blaggart. 'oo ever said tha yeh needed to be eloquent an stable to be a pillagin, plunderin, rapin, an burnin bucaneer?!
  20. Yellowbeard has got ta be one o the greatest pirates in movie history. He's got tha skills an tha drive, an he's gruffer than hell. "I'm in disguise ya stupid tart!" "They'd have ta kill me before I die"
  21. Cannon's arse! Bwa ha ha ha ha! tha was a good un though We8er. I'm curious abou' yehr other statement. what kinda work do ya think ye'll be doin?
  22. Ey captain, what is it thas white in tha dark, red in tha light an can make any man hurl his innards at it's sight?
  23. Myself, i play tha electric bass. pretty well. ah play professionally piratey for all sorts of festivals an events. bit of a problem tho when our prospective employers frown upon any thing not period. thats why i started thinkin abou procurin myself a cello an turn it sideways. what do yeh think? ah hate acoustic basses cause they can't project fer dung.
