Tres cool! But uhh, what is a CD? :) -- Hurricane

Yeah, I know. We've pretty much just been emailing each other back and forth about the Port Royal camp. PM me if you want in the loop. Most of the Port Royal folks are on the board here these days. -- Hurricane

Sparrow's voice? Is this the only Depp movie you've ever seen? That's Johnny's voice and he's used it in film long before PotC! -- Hurricane

I can say it was definitely a blast last year! I hear tell that there was a mutiny of sorts at least a dozen cast members walked and some of the original management team is no long there.... Anyone know more about this? I just saw in a MySpace posting from one the remaining cast members... -- Hurricane

I believe it violates state law. It's mostly because this is a state park, not a private venue. So I would imagine it falls under the same guidelines that you can't sell items made of coral, endangered woods and feathers. Again, if it was not a state park, the rules here are a lot freer. Hell you can buy black powder everywhere here and I can rack my guns and cannon off in my backyard. -- Hurricane

Yeah, it's at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island, I heard. One of my friends went on their cruise and saw it there. Looks great from the one side, doesn't it? -- Hurricane

Taking nothing away from Callenish, but I got my doglock from Loyalist Arma as a wedding gift and it has been terrific. The Goddess and I each got one fromn our crewe as wedding presents. They have worked perfectly. We fire them with 70 grains of powder with Wonder Bread that give it a good kick and we've never had a misfire. Good product at a very fair price. -- Hurricane

That's the trick with fonts. Unless the viewer has the same font installed on their machine, they can't see the more ornamental fonts unless they're presented as artwork. And many people (myself included) have the settings so that I use different fonts regardless of what the CSS calls for. So it's always a toughy designing a site for the masses, particularly when using stylesheets. I think it's coming along fabulously by the way! -- Hurricane

Ah, that is a grand sight it is... thanks for sharing it. 08 looks like an even greater adventure, it does. -- Hurricane

The Pyrates of the Coast body count is as follows: Hurricane Diosa Oryginal Cinn Touche Master Studley Sheila Willie Wobble Bootleg Red Handed Jill (ours, not the on pyracy.com) Rusty Nail and Krispy will be amongst us as well. We're not sure which style of camping they are doing. That should be it for now.

Welcome aboard! Too bad you're not in Florida mate. We have the Molly Rogers roller derby team, pirates, a 40' pirate ship, black powder and a best dressed contest in our neck of the woods to celebrate the day. Fair winds and good luck finding a port to call home! -- Hurricane

Calabash gourds like this are still used in Jamaica and readily available. They most certainly were used during GAoP there from what the islanders have told me. That looks terrific! As for reproduction onion bottles, they're not hard to find. I have one or two here. Getting one that looks like the originals is a little harder, primarily because the materials are so different. I would love the original kinds. In Jamaica, when you pull one out of the water it falls apart within a day because of the materials used in the glass and the chemicals in the water. I would love to have one from the sunken town. -- Hurricane

It's OK, but pretty low budget and there are several blatant inaccuracies I know of in the Henry Morgan segments. Plus the guy they had play him didn't have any of the characteristics of Morgan so I couldn't get my arms around his performance beyond the errors. I don't know much about the other pieces - I'm not on all of the characters nor can I comment on them. If you don't know anything about these folks, it's a good show. But it's like Pyracy 101. -- Hurricane

Those are a great start Silkie! We do several of these and can provide the words/chords and such if you want. -- Hurricane

I don't think the rules in the pub are very hard and fast, compared to period stuff. I'm bringing my washtub this year for the pub to add a little rhythm. :) Are you looking for the music we'd be doing, say, in the pub? Or are you just looking for stuff for the Careening Camp. I know there's some stage acts there this year - they're listed on the PiP site. Otherwise, I can supply a list of the songs we do so you can hunt for those. I'm sure others will pitch in theirs as well. -- Hurricane

That certainly is poor form, Rumba. Seems these events for that this is how some of us make a living, or at least a little extra coin. We had considered Dana Point at one point to bring our shoppe out west but will strike out colors since they seem less flexible in the same areas we would need, i.e., availability of shopping on multiple sides. Thanks for the report and sorry for your misadventures there. -- hurricane

Due to the sensitive ears of certain captains
hurricane replied to Capt. Sterling's topic in Fort Taylor
There's no one in Port Royal who snores any longer. Won't explain why that's the case, but they started to smell a bit bad after we took care of it... suffice it to say, it's much quieter and there's more food and drink to go around now. -- Hurricane -
The Pyrates of the Coast will be at Thirsty Bones fashion on Merritt Island on Talk Like a Pirate Day. They'll be a pirate costume contest, drink specials for folks in pirate attire, karaoke and lots of other fun events to celebrate the day. I will be the event's host, helping out the gang with the events. Everything kicks off a 6 p.m. with a little flintlock fire outside the bar. Thirsty Bones -- Hurricane

The quality of life of indentured servants in Jamaica depended largely on their owner. Many of the landowners treated their indentured servants fairly well, at least for the times. Of course, the cruelties of the few outweigh the goodness of many, hence history's recording of them. Just like today, you had good bosses and bad bosses. -- Hurricane

I believe white indentured slaves were traded rather than auctioned in Jamaica. They were contracted to a specific period of servitude and the contract was often sold to another person. On occasion, they were also gifted. I don't have the official documentation on that, however. Does anyone else have it at their fingertips? -- Hurricane

Black Skot is the best in the business right now. His coats are fantastic and well made. And he's great to work with. -- Hurricane

That is a very exciting addition to the grounds and the festival... Looking forward to the ringing of an anvil on the ground and it will really draw the attention of visitors to the park. -- Hurricane

I can only imagine the deafening roar of a boom stick that big. Wow! Didn't know those were up there - will have to journey up to that side this year. -- Hurricane

I guess my point was we will all have powder there to share. -- Hurricane

Black powder is in ready supply in Florida and most of us will have a bounty of it. I for one plan to pick up 10 pounds over the weekend at Buffalo Bills. Woo hoo!!!! Plus Julie (who is with the Wolf) usually has a spare can in her purse any time someone there needs it. Sorry guys, she's taken. -- Hurricane
