  1. Here is mine. My MySpace -- Hurricane
  2. Just kidding, lass. I would hardly question a person's medical need. Everyone in Port Royal is allowed one modern convenience as well - everyone chose inflatable mattresses to sleep on. Otherwise the only power we will have is candle power, even after hours. Have you ever tried to find Muscovado sugar these days? That was a hunt... -- Hurricane
  3. Wow! I didn't know they had boom boxes in 1725... and what is this thing they call electricity? -- Hurricane
  4. If you end up getting a job offer before you go, I have a fool-proof technique that has always worked for me to still get the vacation in first... Let me know if you end up needing it. -- Hurricane
  5. Ebay has a good assortment of raw body parts and bones. Here's just one bloody leg. They also have arms, severed fingers, some assorted brains and such. http://cgi.ebay.com/Sick-Severed-Bloody-Hu...0QQcmdZViewItem -- Hurricane
  6. We have a surgeon in Port Royal (he's majoring in the medical field for real) but he's a womanizing drunk in our scenario. I don't think he'd be someone you want holding a scalpel as he might accidentally do a real appendectomy in a rum punch stupor... -- Hurricane
  7. I am so sorry to hear you won't be making it and I hope all works out with your family and court. Never fun. There's always next year and we will miss you! -- Hurricane
  8. Donna comes from 1660 to 1670. It is Italian for "lady". It stems from the female form of dominus in Latin. Random House Unabridged... 2006. Somehow my mother got the name, though she's no lady. :) -- Hurricane
  9. Sounds like fun! Unfortunately, our crewe is at PiP in Key West then. - Hurricane
  10. The entire Port Royal encampment will be in character in the pub we will be representing. We all have backgrounds and personas and have gone through a rehearsal or two. It should be a lot of fun discussing politics of the time, playing period gambling games, eating period foods and such. Plus we're demonstrating how to squeeze sugar cane and our cook is going to take it and make candy with the coconuts and bananas we have in tow from the back yard. Plus the tryal of Anne and Mary is a sight to behold. Of course, my wife plays Mary so I have say that... Nah, I've seen if for five years now and it's always a joy to watch and is one of the highlights of the festival. -- Hurricane
  11. If you need any information for your class about Port Royal I will be happy to share my knowledge and resources. PotC really butchered what the town looked like. In fact, the only one to come close was Cutthroat Island. Their aerial shot was pretty much spot on, as was the carriage ride down what would have been Thames Street (at least for Hollywood, it was close). PotC kills me every time I see it set against the mountains. Argh!!!! :) -- Hurricane
  12. That looks great!!!! Another wonderful project that creates beauty in a proper (or improper) pirate's home... -- Hurricane
  13. Yeah, figured that would be your favorite, dog that you are.... -- Hurricane
  14. Wow! Glad I didn't stay there for long. Florida is unlikely to do any such nonsense. We're a firearm lovin' state. The legislature recently passed a bill to allow us all to pack heat and waste anyone who makes us feel threatened, regardless of place. Can even be on a sidewalk. Worked most recently when a pimp tried to rob a john and the john shot him point blank. And my local powder seller looked dismayed when I only need four pounds for PiP. Doubt the anti-gun lobby will ever have an ear to bend here. Thankfully. I am sorry for all the responsible folks there who use their weapons correctly and care about demonstrating history there. Another sad day for over regulation by governments who listen to the vocal minority if it comes to pass. -- Hurricane
  15. Here's a good selection of orders and marques for you all. I have the one for Sir Henry and it's terrific. I recommend these guys for all your official papers. http://www.piratedocuments.com/Pages/alpha...etical_list.htm -- Hurricane
  16. The Buccaneer's Realm has just been released. I got an advanced copy and it is a great read so far. It covers the period 1674-1688... the Golden Age of the Buccaneer if you will. Lots of information I hadn't seen anywhere else... If you remember his previous book, The Sea Rover's Practice, you know it will be good stuff. Hurricane Here's the link http://www.amazon.com/Buccaneers-Realm-Pir...94912501&sr=8-1 _________________ "Tis good to be captain."
  17. No problem. You just have to buy it in 25 pound lots. Get together with a few shipmates, and share an order. $300 for 25 1 pound cans, mixed grades, or all the same. Braze and myself stocked up a couple of months back. Maine Powder House, delivered right to your door. Check your local ordinances about storage of explosives. You never know who might think it is their "duty" to call the authorities on you. Some people simply CANNOT mind their own business..... >>>>> Cascabel Thanks for the heads up on that Cascabel. We'll be putting in an order once we return from PiP. We have four pounds for the cannon and two dogs we have, so that should do us for that. -- Hurricane
  18. Boy, wish I knew where to get it here for $12 a can. Last batch was $21 a can for 2-f. -- Hurricane
  19. How exciting. Anxious to see who the Pirate Hunters, soldiers and residents of Port Royal should be on the lookout for. -- Hurricane
  20. It can get beastly cold there at times. One year a cold front rolled through and the weather went from bright, warm and sunny to drab, cold and windy in about two hours' time. Ah, life on the bridge between the Gulf and the Atlantic. Best to prepare for both possibilities. -- Hurricane
  21. Here is the link to the revised festival schedule... http://www.piratesinparadise.com/festivalp...am-07-small.pdf Lots to do, even rum tasting after the Walk the Plank Championships. Woohoo! See you all there soon! -- Hurricane
  22. If you haven't visited Sir Nigel's site that he posted a link to, do. He's been doing some amazing things with this art. The path may not always be straight in life but it always has purpose. Great stuff! Wow!!!! is all I can say... -- Hurricane
  23. Sorry to hear your plight. The upside is that the festival doesn't start until the 30th. The only event on the 29th is the author's sail and the reception for them at Pepes. So you're not missing out on anything much... We can't set up camps until the 28th so you would miss the first night of that, I s'pose. I'm sure Harry could probably slide a bit on the leave date for you if you contact him. Just some ideas.... Otherwise, it's $384 to fly into Miami plus Greyhound... -- Hurricane

  25. Another draw is the different encampments represented. They'll be the careening camp (circa 1725), the Pirate Hunters, the British troops and Port Royal (1680). It really covers the spectrum of activities for someone interested in portraying pirates. There's something for everyone plus lots of cannon and gun play. -- Hurricane
