I like how much people trust my 'model of reality' because I used a computer to make it. And by dang if that hillshade doesn't make it look it so good they don't even ask about the all important details.

I got a sweet pair of skull and crossbones earings at the gift shop at the exit of the POTC ride in Disneyland, I actually used them as pins in my hat. So perhaps there's some on some Disney on line place.

Hmmm I like the idea that there is quite a surprise involving Elizabeth coming up. Let's keep in mind that it's a Disney film, so maybe she's a mermaid that is working to rid her kingdom of whatever ill effects Davy Jones is causing. Not withstanding the above speculation, I hereby change my earlier speculation to now speculate that Jack and Elizabeth are brother and sister and are working together to some heroic end. So far she's always been around to either make Jack look heroic or to get his goods out of hock when she was most needed. All the sexual tension is just them play acting to throw people off. And somehow Jones is their father and the whole getting the heart thing was actually to free Jones not Jack. Yeah, it's a little problematic that Jones sent the Kracken to kill them all, but he's heartless right now and will change when he gets his heart back. Okay, here's my take no prisonsers wild a$$ guess on the future plot lines, with absolutely no basis in anything so tawdry as facts and perhaps even deliberately controversial. Davy Jones' lost love is somehow related to Captain Barbossa, perhaps they were rivals and Jones lost. Also, Jack will turn out to be related to someone unexpected, like Beckett or Tia, or maybe even Bootstrap (and Will). Let's go with Beckett just to be rowdy. So I'll go with ... Jack and Beckett are brothers who had a falling out over a woman, Tia, and both are actually Barbossa's sons, and nephews of Jones. And why not throw in that the woman who caused Jones and Barbossa trouble is actually Will's mother (or maybe Elizabeth's instead). I too had trouble with hearing the dialog and my wife really did, but then our theater says they run both Dolby Digital and THX sound so perhaps they're sort of screwed up anyway.

I don't know if I'll ever make it to Castaway Cay, but this post reminded me of something that my fellow west coast pirates might want to know about. The ship built for the movie Master and Commander is docked in San Diego and is available for tours, along with a steel hulled sailing ship named Star of India.

I'd certainly be glad to meet another pirate/cartographer, especially one who offers to buy me a pint! I am already planning on going to the shanty singing on the 1st. Blackjohn, I wouldn't mind a bit meeting for lunch, but that's a little harder to work out. The whole point of the trip is to deliver my daughter, lock, stock and barrel to law school there (I think there's a pirate/Washington lawyer joke in there somewhere). So I'll either be helping her get settled or around the capital seeing the sites us west coast folks usually only see in pictures. So I could meet but I'm not sure how or where it could happen.

Wow! That place is 15 minutes from where I'm staying and here's an item from their menu that says it all: Beef and Guinness Pie - Beef, onions and chopped potatoes slowly stewed in Guinness Stout and demi glaze and topped with puff pastry, served with vegetable of the day I love the internet! I'll be in Washington DC around the first of August and I was wondering if there is anything sort of pirate related that I could go see. I'll be spending most of my time seeing the usual monuments and things like that, but perhaps there's a pirate themed eatery or place to raise a pint that I could choose instead of some more boring place. Any suggestions?

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Coordinator. That's a nice fancy term for using a computer to make maps. So I do some Cartography, some data bashing, some teaching, some web design. On the side I design t-shirts, do some chinese brush painting and sculpt.

Anyone who's been in the miltary has marched many a mile to "Hey, Hey Captain Jack" it is an awesome marching cadence and cool that someone made it into a song and even more so that they included Captain Jack Sparrow. They did use the 'clean' version, not the one we marched to in the back woods of Fort Knox all those years ago!

oderlesseye that is an awesome pirate hide-a-way! I too love the cannons, but then who doesn't love a good cannon? You probably already know, but if you want a nice authentic cannon boom you can get a signal cannon that fires blanks a makes a quite impressive boom and will have the neighbors shivering their timbers so to speak. Just seach for Signal Cannon and you'll find plenty.

Open the browser link (you must not be blocking popups for it to open), you can search by date or keywords (like france, new york, etc). When you find one to download clikc on data on the left then scroll down to find the download links. You can also download a mrsid viewer. (Mrsid is a file type that allows you to see large graphics failry easily.)
