  1. Dang that's cool. Couples of things that jump out to me.

The Slashed sleeves of the coat. I can't seem to recall seeing them anywhere else in this period.

(Sterling, Foxe any ideas?) Everything else is looking about right to me. I like the sash and 2 pipes also.

Now let me preface this with I wear earrings and really wish I could keep them in at events.

I'm going to play devils advocate. Perhaps the earring that we are seeing is a wart or skin tag

if some sort? Just a thought.

  2. Well I don't have painters canvas but 10oz canvas duck. I would think the weave of painter tarps are looser. you can try this. Wash the tarps in hot water and dry hot. This should help to shrink the weave a little.

Try it on one of them and then take it outside test it. Spray it with a water hose and see if she soaks through. Mine is completely untreated and is water tight. Well I will get drips through but that can be solved by running your finger to "train" the water were to go.

  3. Now I didn't do the nifty "triangle" pocket openings as in the period pockets. I just did a straight cut.

I sew my pockets in outer front pieces first, then I'll construct the rest of the outer shell.

This makes it possible to tuck the linings inside the garment.

    Check these out.

Now when you sew the linings in, I sew them on the outside and push them through to the inside. Vintage Pocket making

This is a website I used as a guide. Not necessarily PC but it gave me the right idea.

    Hope this helps.

  4. uummmm..... that's down right amazing..... ;)

and there is a Mrs. F?!?! I didn't know..... and she's quite handy with a needle. (Actually better than me for sure!)

Bravo!! Wish I could see them at the next event but alas.... Foxe you're too far away.

Still most excellent work. They look great!
