  1. Between the armor and the bucket boots.. that could have been pretty damn funny... Especially... if there had been a ship with full cannon waiting off shore for the Knight. (Sorry, sorry I know that would not be very chivalrous ... (shrug) Now M'dear since when are pirates supposed to be chivalrous? and frankly since said knight had the advantage of his horse at one point, why not give the pirate a chance with his big guns... **wicked grin**

  3. [quote name='Shipwreck John' date='Apr 29 200 Of course the kill scene was definitely one for the books.. Won't spoil it for Lady B... But that was classic!! Agreed... so much for the knight's special edge...
  4. Agreed it would have been more interesting to see.. and I am surprised the pirate did not at least wound the knight's horse at that close a distance...I guess they didn't have a trick animal to use for the scenario...damn but tis so easy to take down one horse with the weapons the pirate was allowed to use.... but they do show the computer "test" results toward the end... and they show the number of kills estimated per weapon tested... both pistol and buss well out numbered anything the knight used regarding kills... in my opinion, the best part was after the pirate drops the knight with the buss, he grabs the treasure and runs off to the beach... notices the knight get up and start chasing him again. The pirate rolls his eyes and mumbles something along the lines of oh bloody hell... now that was great!!
  5. Tis the blind eye, always miss half of what yer saying....
  6. Trust me Robbie, ye don't be needing any lobotomies... I think yer damned clever just the way ye are...
  7. I am def trying to get a few period kits together. There are a ton of local events that I am missing out on here in MD. I would love to come out and play sometimes instead of manning a booth all the time. I can try to have this done for you by Blackbeard my friend. I just learned a much faster technique for the multi fullers up the back of the blade. This wont be a cheap piece. I think I have the antler here too. Sharp or blunt ? Blunt..but not too blunt...as long as tis safe as I need it for fighting... And aye we can sit down at Blackbeard's and talk what kit you need and we will go over the trade "prices"
  8. Still interested in having that hunting sword http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j267/cap...VALOFFICERS.jpg made, so if you ever want to trade for period correct kit, just let me know... http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j267/cap...shHH-1700-2.jpg
  9. And Peter II mourning coat circa 1715-1730 from the V & A's Russian Czars exhibit. Hmmm looks similar to one I have seen around a few times with a hole in the back from a pistol ball ...
  10. Happy belated birthday and get well soon
  11. Good so then, this means I can sew all your buttonholes by machine on yer new coat? Of course they won't look half as nice but since you can't tell the difference....
  12. 'course ya should be usin contrastin thread...to brag on yer work..else noone else sees it?!!? Hell no... not until he's got them perfect...yer doing fine, just the way ye are...
  13. Yer off to a good start, try not to get that little pucker near the bottom if you can on the next ones... still very nicely done... keep going.
  14. Note the necklines... her's looks closer to the 1730s and after style although if you really wanted to debate the issue, it could be close, though way too big to the second picture which is the 1720s style, which was basically no longer working on a sharp corner like the earlier styles... which by the way, the sharp corner really never seems to disappear all together... The problem being with the neckline in her photo, it is what a lot of seamstresses and patterns seem to offer... the necklines are just way too big. Her pocket on the purplish brocade coat is questionable... I have seen large pocket flaps on earlier coats but not a bag pocket which looks to be depicted there. As for the lapels, I am not seeing them either until later. From the pictures posted it is also impossible to tell if there are side vents as well a the back one which were very common and necessary for carrying a sword and riding... I also agree that the cuff to the sleeve just looks too big. Now if she were going for a pagoda sleeve of the period she's missed that as well. There also doesn't appear to be the proper tailoring either in order to get the coat to hold its shape... i.e, its just hanging there somewhat... ahem... limp. Now whether costume or accurate clothing, and it could be that it is just caught up on the dress dummy incorrectly, and just needs to be straightened a bit, but boy if it doesn't look like she botched up the lining on the black coat... all those wrinkles should not be there, but again, it could just need resetting onto the dummy correctly...
  15. I must agree with the seller, tis a costume, although a nice one, but still a costume.
  16. Chum.... now there's a thought... well done Robbie!
  17. Dutchie offered me a spot on the fishing trip too . . . I always wanted to try fishing with "Grenados" Well this looks to be great fun... although I am none too sure of eating anything we might catch...still a good way to pass the time. I'll bring the bait...
  18. but of course... we could all use the money... payment can be made at this year's festival... ye can find me on the Explorer, fishing with Dutchie... and do look smartly there, I need to pay for the fishing gear....
  19. Hmmm.. I have thought that the "copotain" hat was the late Ren-style tall hat wit a small brim, kinda rolled on the outside edges and pitched to the rear. You know, I was just thinking the irony of a pirate in a puritan hat... Well it was just associated with Pilgrims/puritans... when they wore it, so did a lot of others..
  20. One of my favorites, everything but the hat (no offense just not my taste)...especially the look on his face whilst his wife goes shopping
  21. If you really have yer heart set on the sugar loaf style...you may want to find out if it was still being worn in Wales... as a version of it continued to be worn as an Ethnic style, at least for women, right up until today...unfortunately without asking I casn't say about the men...
