  1. ^ kind of go hand in hand... I would rather have a nice beach with sun and just enough breeze to make the wool bearable. < I hate being cold... too painful V Favorite type of weather?
  2. Have a little chicken soup....with hot sauce....that will clear you up!
  3. Was blessed with snow...so the weekend turned into five days off, and Mistress McKinney's new ballgown is almost done... then perhaps I can get back to my gray coat... health is ..um...well it is... I'm alive... So glad to hear that Miss Sophie is doing well... my youngest is having a ball in the snow and the oldest is happy staying inside and lounging in the sun... I will be starting your ballgown Feb. 17...I think it would be safe to send over new measurements just in case on that day...
  4. Ye had me there until you said Hazelnut...ugh... So Lady how are you doing? I miss talking with you....
  5. cranberry and seltzer...left over from last night
  6. Unfortunately, it is not a well organized webpage, nor is it kept up properly...maybe some day MB will get someone who can concentrate on that alone...tis such a shame
  7. Ugh!! Mercury....Ye just put me off of Mistress McKinney for a month...
  8. Thanks for keeping us updated... this is way too cool...
  9. Go Giants! ...one can at least turn down the sound
  10. Hey! You never told me that when you were trying to convince me to come! Heck, may have convinced me. Blast! Yeah...why bother....you're like me... the ship is more important than people...
  11. I'm sure there be plenty of gents in the crewe willing to keep ye warm!
  12. What better way to age a pc type garment than to do so naturally? The more you wear it the better it looks without running the risk of doing it incorrectly by faking it... Waistcoats, shirts and shoes are often worn to school along with over coats in the cooler weather... and the kids think it is cool...so I can't lose any way you look at it... as for the adults...who cares what they think?
  13. I must agree with Silkie, and my dear, I am glad to hear you are starting to feel a bit better....say what is on your mind and in your heart truthfully and make it clear. Constant little lies, or so called white lies, or words that do NOT line up with your behavior says volumes about who you really are and none of it is good. Talk about driving a wedge into a relationship. Also constantly "belittling" the one you supposedly love because it is "cute" or "funny" in your opinion does more damage than good... oh and I feel as if I have been hit by a mack truck...
  14. In truth, 'twas not the hangnail but the amputation... at the thigh, for said hangnail, that did the poor fellow in...
  15. Thank you Sir... I would be honoured, for whatever reason, to join ye and yer Lady for a drink...
  16. Sorry Lady B... I meant I will not be attending the ball... there was never any birthday party in the plans...
  17. Rather agree with Hurricane here... or if you insist on aging it ...bring it to PiP, the humidity down there will age it right before your very eyes...
  18. I am sorry I am not making much sense as of late... my apologies
  19. Honestly with my health, I may be very sedate and quiet... I may skip the ball all together...it may be best to get through the days.
  20. Hunting attire or traveling clothes are both correct for what we call a lady's riding habit... my concern is the long gun. For her to walk around port/town with such a garment is fine for traveling... I am just questioning the long gun. Why would she be hunting in town? Why would she be carrying it in town? Hunting, especially for a lady dressed in such a fashion, was pretty much a sport for the well to do...if she is going into town I think odds are she would bring along a servant for protection, and he might be armed. She could be armed as well, but with such an obvious weapon? As for hunting, once she was done hunting odds are she would pass that gun off to someone else to carry as well. Remember hunting then is done for survival or for sport...those that need it to survive aren't wearing fancy silk gowns to hunt in...and odds are the men of the family are seeing to that task. For sport we are talking about them with the means to do so...not like in the US now a days.
