  1. Tavern Wench for the weekend Charming Couple Bollow and I have both agreed Lynn the less evil twin Have NO clue who this STRANGE fellow is, but that is Lynn in the background And have NO idea who this guy is BUT he kept trying to pass himself off as Maddogge My personal fav and a few others...
  2. Honestly Lady B, there aren't too many stories to tell this year... I think too many folks were already coming down with sickness of some sort or the other... Mine was my birthday made all the more sweeter by the arrival of Momma Ratzi... thanks to Haunting Lily, Mad Mary and Cheeky... the Polish Hussar was a fine sight to see... and there seemed to be a number of more displays about than last year... the belly dancers were back again, the Romans, bag pipers, the Generals....etc., etc. Shopping was good although they had a bit of a cock up for the poor vendors with double booking the ballroom Saturday night. Pete did an excellent job with Historical Jeopardy, but then no one thought he would do other wise. and the weather was a whole lot warmer and nicer.
  3. So Cheeky why are you waiting to post the pictures you took? trouble with your computer again? shall I help? RFV
  4. Sure ye can... years of practice I guess... if not try a needle threader... I like the shorts myself... the smaller the eye the better, although they will break with the heavier wools...
  5. She sounded good! And says hi to everyone
  6. Success Rumba... my dad went through something that sounds very similar... he is doing well now... we pray the same for you.
  7. In all honesty, Stynky, Kate did a magnificent job on her Waugh mantua... she should post her blog here as well...
  8. Good now keep practicing... by the time yer down with your coat and waistcoat, you'll be a pro...
  9. A note of caution with the dish washer... obviously not all dish washers work alike... I tried this and turned a beautiful lock into a pile of rust... I will never do it again.
  10. Hey the stain is cool fer that lived in look... leave it
  11. I am not finding gabardine as we know it prior to late 19th century... it does not come up Montgomery under that name...
  12. No, just tis a silly way I knot my first thread.... I'll take a picture soon and post it... tis more of an embroiderer's knot so there is less bulk on the wrong side of the fabric...just as snug and keeps the double thread from getting out of whack...
  13. Very impressive Commodore! Quite the bit of work there in yer kit... well done.
  14. Right then, highlighted the thread to show what part passes over and what part passes under in order to get your knot... and just in case the purple is OVER/ON TOP of the green and the point of the needle is OVER the thread as well... slowly pull it taunt to get your stitch/knot... repeat
  15. Linen twill tape or self fabric, but now to recall Rose in a recent conversation, all the original 18th century stays she has seen up close have been bound in kid leather... Hope I got that right... and that is not to say that they did not use linen, or self fabric, or cotton twill tape, she just hasn't seen it in originals yet... Rose feel free to correct this if necessary... there is one 1780s (yeah I know way past our time frame) bound in white silk and the pink stays (yeah I know earlier than our time frame) are bound in pink silk
  16. It can be done... start listing what terms/words/techniques you don't comprehend...
  17. Remember when using the head pillory, your victim's ear should be nailed to the wood...
  18. Our crewe travels with a leg pillory... the head pillory is in the works... but these might help... hardest thing is getting pc hardware... you need to find a blacksmith Defoe in the pillory
  19. For certain projects, especially fine leather work, you want to use enough thread so that you are NOT constantly stopping and starting again with a new, short piece... like Mickey says stop and let your needles drop and untwist, but the number one help is to wax your threads... beeswax.. it helps a ton...
