  1. The only thing Eye been "drawin" is a paycheck... :)
  2. So now I got a chance to machine the file and the result is this one inch thick plate aluminum piece. I hope to do the other side and then drill and tap the top edge for eye bolts to hang it over head. I still haven't decide wether to polish and or chrome it,or just paint it. I think a polished and chrome work would be more eye catching... by the way LOL on the buttzville name... nothing pirate there though..
  3. A While back I decided I needed a map.I purchased one that dates to 1792. I Took it to a reprographics place and made large copies. This is for the piratical theme in the "cove" I'm building out back and so today twas the day. My first try was with coffee and tea in the bath tub but paper was not strong enough and tore easily. when I went to put the shower door back on it shattered in a million pieces. This map is getting expensive... So I took the action outside and was determined.. after applying the stain lightly with a sponge I blew it dry and Am now happy and ready to frame it and hang it in the cove.. YEAHHH !
  4. Eyes ain't no match fer ya foxe when it comes to history but the two dablooms eyes got is from "under the black flag" by David COrdingly. He says Woodes Rodgers commanded a privateering mission around 1708-1711. And then went to the West Indies in 1718 to rid New Providence of pirates. Woodes published A book in 1712 "A Cruising voyage around the World" July 26,1718 Woodes was back in New Provence Having returned from England. He re-established order once again as Govenor up to 1720's. Was replaced deu to poor health and later reinstated and returned becuase his replacement was incompetent.this as in 1729. he died in 1732.. Woodes had gone to South Carolina fer his health before he died but It's a note in point that he was not just a govenor... He was a "govenor in Chief" so that means he was in charge of alot of territorty..
  5. I was workin on a cad drawing and this is what eye got So far.. Eye hope to cut a real sign outta aluminum wit raised letters. It won't be as colorfull, It will be something I might consider sending to the chromer though..

  12. I was a recent convert do to an introduction through my wife to ren faire 3mos. ago. I guess it's taken a life of it's own. Mid-life crisis could well as be a reason fer this insanity of wantin to act as a pyrate fer a day or two outa the year and build the cove in progress ect. I see it as more of a hobbie than an interest because now I want to learn navigation techniques. Iv'e been bit an bit hard. So much so I machined this today.... One is the computer graphic using surfcam and the other is the real deal Now the Year is 2012 and looking back eye can say that what got me here was shear rebellion..However what has kept me? The excitement of the life and adventure of it all...Eye have met so many great people to boot! Back then Eye had no idea that one day eye would end up in Pirates Magazine let alone create a full feature movie short! Now on YouTube ! http://youtu.be/xmSeX-gghpo And now an Honory member of the Leviathan. It is funny to look back and laugh at myself with what eye would call very humble beginnings. I have come far in the Hobby turned life style. I find a lot of joy sharing with others, how to's and the rest is future history yet to experienced.
  13. Ealy maps sugeest longitude was already a concept. link More specifically the time line I found says: 1760's was when the lunar tables became available and some guy named John Harrison invented the chronometer. Twas only then was we able to find longitude wit any accuracy. Eyes : just read all this in the lasty chapter of me book " Under the Black Flag" by David Cordingly pgs. 82-83.////86-87 has a few more facts too but ya got to look at the book. I don't wanna plagerize David. Otherwise eyes thinks ya answered yer own question already. East-West direction (longitude) was fer the most part an educated guess; fer maps of the tyme were'nt all that accurate.
  14. Eyes has found the treasure and yas can'tsd prove it otherwise. link & link
  15. Here's to ya all.. Turn up those skirts aends ta music!
  16. Rabble rousin sounds like ah great answer to the thread querry. Aside work/city college routine, I'm in the piratical decor mode. We found a nice fishin net to hang on the fence and a parrot to put in a window. We found a decent wall lamp thats not period but won't detract from the goal to give ya that erie-mysterious feeling of a pirates hide-out, where there be something changin around all the time. I also just got an antique map that we're gonna blow-up and put on another wall. The reprographics place does'nt have antique paper but I have experimented and found tea and coffee to work the aging miracle. The original map is from 1792. A little late for golden age. But whose gonna know exept ya scurvy dogs readin this rap. the map bears the actual names like hispanolia, and New Spain, ect.
