  2. Red Maria ~~~~~ eye edited the post to give the credit were it is due...

Eye Saw this on the other site so Eye thought it be nice to share it here..

Sorry if you think Eye stole it or worse.. Was not really my intention though Eye can't help myself..eagh eagh ~

  3. This story obviously happened later than GAOP so if there are any other accounts that you know of that are closer to period..Eye would like to know about it because it is something that could be reenacted.

    *************************************************************************************************

Purusing the referernce shelves Red Maria found this 18thc. (Yes an actual 18thc. periodcal and it isn''t in rare books) the periodical's title is:

The annual register, or a view of the history, politicks, and literature, for the year 1758

    There was the following entires:

Aug 6, 1758 the lords of the admiralty received information that a Dutch ship, having onboard the baggage of the Marquis de Pignatelly, minister from the court of Spain to the court of Denmark, and several of his domestics, was on the 30th of June last, boarded three times, by the crews three different English privateers; that some of the crews armed with cutlasses, pistols, and hatchets, forced open the hatchways, and went into the said ship's hold, and there broke open tow trunks belonging to the Marquis de Pignatelly, wherein there were rich clothes and laced liveries, which they carried away to their ship: and that whilst they were so doing the crew of another English vessel joined upon which said crews committed very great outrages, by breaking open all said Marquis de Pigmatelly's cases, and trunks, and taking and carrying away all valuable effects, which were in six of the said cases and trunks, and destroying or damaging the rest of those effect; and then falling upon his, said minister's officers, beat them in a very cruel and shameful manner , and stripping them of their clothes, carried them off, together with their letter of credit and a bill of exchange. Their lordships, therefore, in order to bring to justice the persons guilty of the piratical offences above mentioned, are pleased to promise a reward of 5ool. Without any deduction, unto or amongst such person or persons as shall, within three months from this time, discover any two or more of the offenders, concerned in committing the piracies mentioned above

Aug 16, 1758 A captain of a privateer was taken into custody of the marshal of the admiralty, near the Royal Exchange, on an information for committing several outrages on neutral vessels in the British channel.

Aug 17, 1758 Come on at the high court of admiralty before Sir George Lee, Knight, several trials with regard to Dutch and Danish ships taken by our privateers; and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court, that their cargoes were French property, four were condemned as legal prizes; and the court gave orders that the freights of three of them should be paid, and the ships set at liberty; but a Dutch vessel taken by the Hawk privateer, and carried to Gibraltar, had both ship and cargo condemned; she is a very valuable prize

  4. I have seen a lot of other designers do stuff that's just scary, frightening and the men who wear it look absolutely like you want to beat them up in a dark alley.

HAA hAAa !!!!! Eye LMAO at that!

Funny ! And Wot timing! Bilges Birthday is coming up so Eye sent him a Box of Crabs! Hee HEe ~

  5. My Crew has been selected to help put on a pirate event at a Sheraton hotel in San Diego... In June 2011.

It will be hosted hosted by Gold Coast productions..same people that put on Ojia pirate faire.I have no Flyer for it yet..

How ever wot Eye am looking for is imput on what Activities could be held that would set this event up as being different from the same ole same ole vendor supported festivals. So Far Eye have these Ideas but need more brain storming and thats whare you come in. Please suggest away Any ideas That would in your mind make an event more fun for kids and adults alike. Here are mine so far ~

    1) Have a Sparrow present that has a shtick, Stage show , ect (Vinne )

    2) Water balloon Battle (Out side vendor) Pirates man ever once in a while with the kids to stimulate thar imagination..

) Walk the plank (Stranglehold )

    4) Treasure Hunt (Stranglehold )

    5) Live band Like Gallows Humor ( Saw them at Esco )

    6) Tahitian Dancers ( Anne D, )

    7) Look into a battle reenactment? Lets have some Boom boom !

    8)Costume contest for kids

    9) Emerson Pirates ? Or Mic and whom he brings to the party

    10) A Charity Ball in the evening for the Adults

10.5 ) some fun pirate "hysterical" contest?

    11) Need something out of the box thinkin.. that sets this event up to be different from the rest...Lemme think on it..

    12) Eye know Eye can bring some props like Willie and the treasure chest to this..ect. The BIG Treasure chest can actually be used in the treasure hunt with the winning booty inside and the key hidden by clues..

    13) Create Pirate Island with our Encampment...Hmmmm Treachery Awaits them lubbers!

  6. Consider this, Pirates were the equivelent of todays rock stars, not that they had throngs of adoring fans, it is a reference to a lifestyle, People who lived on the fringe of society without much reguard for rules, or how you are supposed to act, or what you are supposed to wear.
Can you show that to be an historically accurate representation of pirates, or is that just another part of the Hollywood pirate myth? Or something in between?

Jean Lafitte Was Considered a hero in New Orleans

ROCK STAR ! <----- Click the link*******

With out names and just conjecture on my part ..Eye think any pirate became popular who fenced goods at a cut-rate price that enabled the colonies to skirt the British taxes..

  7. I want a big, honkin' chest that SCREAMSPIRATE!!! Maybe 5 or 6 of 'em!

    I loved your spirited post!

Well Auhh Gee ..Maybe Eye can sell you this one from my pirate cove. Just add more Iron pretties.

IT IS BIG & HONKIN ~ AHHH Eye think we need a Bigger Trailer!
