  1. That's great! I believe I'll try the mustard tonight on my own blade!

Will that cause any damage to the steel that could weaken a blade over time, like general, run-of-the-mill rust?

I don't think so, McCool, as long as you wash it thoroughly with the soapy warm water. After you dry the blade, you'll want to put a nice coat of oil, and that should do fine. ;)

  2. Aye, mate! What I use to "age" my steel is simple yellow mustard of the type that you put on hotdogs or hamburgers. Just rub a nice coat over the steel, let it sit for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, and then wash it off with warm, soapy water. It should give your steel a nice aged appearance. I have used it on my own pistol barrel and lock and it works like a charm! :P

Has anyone told Captain Black that we meet here?

I know I contacted Cap'n Michael and Jules Evermore. . . for some reason I thought Captain Black was already here.

I'm not sure, Stynky. I haven't told him, I guess I just took for granted that he already knew. I will be glad to let him know, if you haven't already done so.

By the way, send me your flag! :P

  4. I think the above link is not working for some reason. Try this one:

  5. Alright mates, these are the folks I still need flags for:

    1. Cascabel

    2. Braze

    3. Stynky Tudor

    4. Jamie Bellows (Oberon)

    5. Charles Black

    6. Jules Evermore

    7. Michael MacCleod

I am currently working on pending designs for Morrigan Quicksilver and Margot la Merchante de Marseilles. I should have Quicksilver's posted this evening, and will have Margot's just as soon as I hear back from her. That's almost half of us. If you have a design, please submit it to me, and if you don't have one yet, let me know what you would like and I'll make it for you. Does anyone have contact info for Oberon and Jules Evermore so that I could ask them about theirs?

  6. Hmmmm...I see so many deserving names already listed here, this is going to be a hard contest. That being said, however, I must cast my official vote and nomination for Bloody Sam Rackham of The Cursed Few. Bloody Sam is a "go getter" pirate, always there and willing to lend a hand when others need him. He never backs down from any task and is an aggressive, adept leader. Bloody Sam is very active in the pirate community, and has done much in the way of charity, such as helping raise money for cancer research by participating in the St. Augustine Duck Race, and Give Kids The World charity. He is the co-commander of The Cursed Few, and is involved in the planning and organization of the Southern Pirate Festival to be held in October. On top of all of these accomplishments, Bloody Sam is first and foremost a loyal friend and brother, not only to me, but to anyone he calls friend. Aye, this is my official vote.

  7. Jeff,

I appreciate you trying to be proactive, but please get rid of the word Honorable.

Having an Order of Leviathan fan page that is obviously ours is a great idea.

But getting rid of the word Honorable will do a better job of what you're trying to accomplish in the search engines.

In fact, if the Order of Set or whatever re-activated themselves and updated their page while we're using the word Honorable – they would leap-frog ahead of us to the top of the search engines.

I have written search engines before and I know how they work.

So by adding the word Honorable to our name – you're actually doing us a disservice, setting back the importance of our name as well as crippling any legal "fair use" rights to it we have.

    I've worked for Lawyers too.

Sorry, but the word Honorable just doesn't belong and feels like a wimpy add-on.

Stop being afraid of our name. The longer we use it (without the word Honorable attached) - the bigger the association will be to us. Our statistics will grow, our standing will climb, dwarfing whatever they have. Trust me they will disappear, be forgotten and buried.

As much as I respect Jeff and see his point I really just feel we should keep Order of Leviathan. It does seem we cheapen our Order by being afraid of the public scrutiny.(When did pirates ever fear public scrutiny!) I can have my arm bend into agreeing by a vote if it goes that way. This is a pirate democrocy. But im my heart I feel we should not change the name it is what it is. I have allot of respect for the members and hope this becomes something fun and worth doing. I'm not worried if people think we are Devil Worshipers because all they ahve to do is meet us . Come on Do you really think that we are devil worshipers ? WE are the Order of Leviathan if you want you can reffer to it as the Honorable Order of Leviathan but we are the Order of Leviathan

I agree. I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for Jeff, and I can understand his reasoning and not wanting to be associated with those fruitcakes because I myself do not want to be associated with them, but I think we should leave our name as it was originally intended. I agree with Stynky that the more our name is used on the internet, it will eventually overshadow those other people, and I also agree with Cascabel in that I do not feel the need to justify the name of our crew to narrow-minded people who would think the worst. All one would need to do is to read up on our crew to know that we are not one and the same with those others. :P

  8. Margot, is it the logo with the skull with the roses clenched in its teeth? We could certainly modify it for your use, that would be no problem.

I'm uncertain how to add a pdf here. The logo is on our website My link but it says 5th Annual. I have a version without 5th annual, a bit more plain. How can I send it? Inserting image is not working. Sorry for my stupidity. Too many websites, facebooks, Myspace Music, Twitter, etc. etc and all function differently. I'm a bit illiterate.

We also do have a BOOM Jolly Roger but as Navigator of BOOM (not Captain, although I am Captain of the BOOM Bilge Rats - band) it's probably best if we can create a jolly roger from the PPF logo, since I'm actually Captain of PPF. Thanks Captain Midnight.

I know I can email it to you.

Yes, that will work! Do you have my e-mail address?

I just sent you a PM with my e-mail address.

  10. Here is a graphic I made for Jeff MacKay, based on the pic of his Jolly Roger from the Don Maitz painting above. I used it as a reference because it was the only one that I could clearly see the hilts of the swords in. Jeff, is this acceptable to you? Let me know if you need any changes made, ok?

    Jeff MacKay's Jolly Roger:

  11. Thank you all! We're off to a good start! We've got some awesome flags, I must say! Jeff, those are good pics of your flag! With your permission, I'll take those pics and make a computer graphic of your flag for you and post it here. It may take a day or so, so just give me a little time, ok? Sterling, I love your Archangel flag! For the rest of you who may not have your own flag, I will tell you the same as I told Willoughby and Braze; if you will let me know how you want your flag to look, or show me even a rough sketch or crayon drawing, I can take that and make you all a flag graphic that you can keep for your own use. This will be my gift to any the Devil's Dozen who need one. Just let me know, ok?

  12. Great idea, I just have the old garden variety skull and cross bones. I will start designing one today. Now where did I leave my crayons?

Very good Braze! If you would like, I could do a computer graphic for your flag too. All you have to do is describe to me how you want it to look, or show me a rough sketch, and I'll put it together for you and submit it to you for your approval.

  13. Aye !!!, sez I. Let's make the name our own, and toss the crackpots and people that deliberately mis-construe things overboard where they belong !! I am not a person that feels obligated to justify things to idiots......

    >>> Cascabel

    Agreed my brother!
