  1. Rosalinda, I apologize fer me smart arse remark, I mistook your reference for the ‘illstain post that also be happening in this section. I was too quick to judge and should ‘ave sent you PM to check thing out instead posting of posting first, my bad.
  2. Arr Paisley, I already tried to tell her that meeting up with us be more important than seeing her family, but she would buy it. I mean she's already spent many a year with them already you would think they could do without her for one day...
  3. You'r not beating the dead hourse are you?
  4. Garrsh, I just found my avatar picture on the internet some place and thought it looked cool, I want to look like this guy when I grow up.
  5. Arr and thank you much for all the kind words, I be making some more once I be finding me self organized again... Not that I be making any promises mind you, but feel free to fire your idears my way, that is if you got any.
  6. Arr, now that you mention it, does seem like he might be a man over board. Anybody try sending him a PM - personal message or email
  7. Arrr now sorry I don’t have the article right in front of me, but I believe it mentioned finding something with hallucinogenic properties, new world cocaine, thought only to have made it’s way to Spain, hemp and tobacco.
  8. Arr sorry for straying back into this thread so long after it be looking to be dead and all. But there be a short and interesting little blurb of an article in the most recent issue of Renaissance Magazine, Vol. 8 #4, Issue #32 that talks about the excavation of some clay pipe fragments that date back to Shakespeare and what be smoked in them at that time...
  9. Arr Mad Cheryl, If you be bring 7 of yer crew plus their families to the ship off proper like and Capt. Flint and Katey's brings their crew and I bring me own small crew of 4 and if any others that 'aven't yet made them selves known show up, we'll 'ave a right nice Pirate Invasion on our 'ands! Does there be a better day to invade? Saturday? Sunday? Both?
  10. Arr Captain Weaver, That thrum cap looks AWESWOME I can't wait to see how yours, comes out.
  11. Arr Capt.Flint, Katey, piratelass, I look forward to seeing everyone at the Blacksmith Shop and White Heart Tavern!
  12. MadMaryFlint, I would offer you a ride but I seem to remember that you’re on or near the coast some where… we’re inland and west from you I think. Not to mention how bad the the idea is of getting car rides from a strange 40 year men that you met on the internet even if they enjoy playing pirate dress-up. I haven’t heard from CaptCat in a while and I don’t know if she’s planning on going, but you might want to check with her though, I think she’s in Richmond. (Stynky volunteers to be shark food and walks the plank for obligating others)
  13. Arrr of course there Cushy Bottom, everyone be welcome to the event! And if I may be so bold, I believe the invitation to wreck, I mean party at Capt. Flint’s & Katey’s be extended to all of us on this here board. Doh, I should have read the last post...
  14. Arr three cheers for Capt. Flint & Katey O'Tierney
  15. Doh, sorry Katey, didn't mean to ignore you there me darling. Are you meaning a spot on the faire grounds or some place after the event?
  16. Arr Mad Woman Cheryl, As for attendees as far as I knows, just the peoples that showed interest in previous topic conversations that I listed might be going. But with all the new activity on the board I’m sure that there must be more interested now. Hey you mentioned that you be bring some of your own shipmates wit ya. How many in numbers does that be?
  17. Ahoy there MadMaryFlint, You’ve just got to sneak away for this, at least for a day or part of one anyway! I mean your brother and your family just aren’t important enough reasons to turn your back on your ol' shipmates. Guilt, guilt, guilt. You could bring them along I suppose... We might be able to ‘ave a bit of fun wit them, at their expense as long as they bring enough money.
  18. Arr Capt. Flint, I hope you don't mind, but I've sort of restarted this thread over in the "Raids" section.
  19. Arrr, so who’ll be with me attending this year’s "Pirate Invasion!" at the Maryland Renaissance Faire? I 'ear it 'ill be happening the weekend of September 20 & 21. http://www.rennfest.com/mrf/index.html A while back, the lot of us on this side of the new world ( sort of north-east u.s. ) be talking about a pirate get together. Capt. Flint came up with the great idea for us all to meet up at this year’s Pirate Invasion event in Maryland, being that Maryland was centrally located to the group of interest relatively speaking. Well, September is right around the corner! So, who be with me? Capt. Flint? Katey O'Tierney? CaptCat? Dorian Lasseter? MadMaryFlint? Mad Woman Cheryl? Captain Rob Carroll? Capt. Sage? Arr, and I know there be several others out there that I’ve either forgotten their name sakes or have yet to make their acquaintance. In any case, this be the time to make yer self known and be counted in a manner of speaking, this be the time we should all get together!
  20. Ahoy there LadyAtropos, Now I know that you be thinking, “Garrsh, that Stynky be a real flake ” ( ancient nautical terms ) Well it be true, between the out of town visitors, visits from me in-laws and the summer lightning storms taking out me internet connection, I be ‘aving a wee bit of trouble getting me “in process” pictures of Pirate Molly’s tricorne posted… not to mention that I actually ‘aven’t done any work on it either. Arrr, I said not to mention that Anyway, me in-laws ‘ill be heading for ports else where in a couple more weeks, I’ll likely be getting back to it some time there after. Sorry again for the wait.
  21. Arr LadyAtropos, Like most things, it really depends what level you’re interest is and how much effort you be wanting to be put in. If your interested is to build a hat from the ground up, starting with raw or carded wool, making a felt hat blank and get to shaping, The Hat Shapers site might be a good place to at least start learning. Besides a slue of hat forms, they’ve got a couple slide show type tutorials on making your own felt hat blanks, shaping and a bunch of related links. http://www.hatshapers.com/ Now as much as I enjoy making me own hat blanks, I think I have more fun just steaming, shaping and working with pre-made blanks. As for equipment, I use a pot of boiling water to steam and loosen the wool fibers, a hat form to stretch the crown over, a sprits water bottle and a hot iron to flatten out the brim. Here's a picture of old reliable, my aluminum pot that I boil water in to steam my felt hats. I also use it to dye single pieces of clothing, that’s my shirt along with some tea bags.
