Since October, I haven't found a whole lot of interest myself. Though I did find these 2 large foam ice chests, 18"x19"x26". The inside voids aren't very big, I think they're for shipping meat or medication maybe. Anyway they were a couple bulks each, I'm thinking I could wrap them in some old canvas and stamp some bale marks on 'em.

Just found a couple of light/medium blue curtain panels, 100% cotton with a few stains. Enough to make a waistcoat or maybe a jacket.

The 20 years or so that I lived in the Bay Area, I fantasized about (not paying rent and) parking/living on a boat on the bay. I'm sure that COVID has a lot to do with it. But I suspect it's also a reflection on our current situation in the US, the lack of affordable housing, the swell of displaced working people, the unhoused and homeless.

Has anyone else watched Boundless on Amazon Prime? It's about Ferdinand Magellan and Juan Sebastián Elcano's 1519 voyage to circumnavigate of the globe. Way too early for the Golden Age, but nautical history all the same.

I think these stockings look amazing - love the patches sew on them. -
CLOTHING: STEP TWO - STOCKINGS
Stynky Tudor replied to Stynky Tudor's topic in 1721 Fort King George
Jno Connolly posted this to Facebook 2023 DEC This pair of stockings was found on the wreck of the Archangel Raphael, which sank in 1724. There were some clothing items that are specifically Germanic that were found, which makes sense since it was a German trade ship that sank on the Baltic Sea. I’ve never seen the different colored yarn pattern like this pair has by the knee, but the overall construction represents what knit stockings would have looked like. CLOTHING: STEP TWO - STOCKINGS
Stynky Tudor replied to Stynky Tudor's topic in 1721 Fort King George
I think a lot of us gloss over this as well and the accuracy here is less important/impactful. Unless we're talking those silly farby flamingo stockings (that Mission wears). The couple pairs of thigh length wool stockings I own are too thick for the spring/summer/fall months, but are great to wear in winter. I usually go with some sort of commercially made cotton stockings, but I am looking to trade up and recently purchased some light weight wool stockings online. -
As we work our way through clothing and upgrade our kits, it’s time we talk about stockings. What little I know on the subject, wool and silk would have been the most common materials with neutral, off white and browns being the most common colors. But honestly I don’t know. As our 1721 standard to shoot for, can anyone provide examples (with citations) for what people wore for stockings?

1721 will be a historic event in and of that year in history, so we need to build kit and clothing from the ground up. So...step one is shoes. We'll talk about each step, but shoes are first. This is the thread to talk about who has them, who needs them and how to get them, so sound off if your feet are clad or unclad. If you have some for sale, trade, loan or as a gift, please let us know sizes and details. Pictures are always a plus. (Originally posted by William on Facebook)

First off, CONGRATULATIONS to you on getting hitched! And welcome back, you have been sorely missed. Props to Red Handed Jill for reaching out! I've always had an interest and follow a Wasted_Couture on Instagram. Come to think about it, I also follow Nuclear Snail on the BoobTube. Is there a local US website/forum/link you can direct us to? William Pace has been working on a 1721 event and the subject of stockings just came up (on Fartbook) regarding wool/silk materials and appropriate color dyes. So far, no one (except madPete) has piped up on the subject, we'd love your brain dump on what you know.

As what can be expected, I lied about only getting trash bags, madPete sent me a bunch of cool stuff!

Excellent, I'm glad you liked everything! But just a heads up on one of the ancient Pyracy Pub Gift Exchange artifacts I sent, the rubber duck. Back when Duchess started this gift exchange thing, she sent it to me for my first gift exchange. Ever since, It has been loved and cherished. Anyway, I got sick of it staring at me in judgment, I now pass it on to you.
